I am in the process of learning about Somatic Therapy and came across this book, and I am really glad it is the first book I chose to read on Somatic Therapy. It offers so much valuable information and exercises. Finding a somatic therapist who takes my insurance isn't easy, but I felt this book provided enough information to get me started on my own journey. I highlighted anything that seemed to speak to me as I was reading the book and at the end there are exercises provided and what those exercises can help with. I found I was already doing some of them on my own and was able to add a few more I know I could incorporate into my life easily. I definitely recommend this book for anyone working through any sort of trauma.

Excellent!

Finally, someone has shared exactly what somatic therapy is and shared it through these honest, relatable chapters. Somatic healing has become a fad, but Lisa uses practical and factual information on how it works, how it is different, why it works, and most importantly, how you can do this for yourself. I'm not claiming this will work perfectly for everyone, but pain meds are only bandaids, they do not treat the deep-seeded route causes of trauma that allows pain to easily show up as something you have to live with for life. If you want all-around integrated treatment then you will want to learn how to do this yourself or visit a somatic therapy office.
