Everitt wakes up one day to find a strange Post-it note in his apartment. He doesn’t remember having written it, he can’t even read what it says. Over the course of a couple of weeks, more notes show up, and Everitt feels like he is beginning to lose his mind as he attempts to figure out who is leaving them and what they mean!
This is a brand new short story from the Splatterpunk Award Nominated author of Bowery and House Call!

a quick, strange read and oddly enough, for added confusion, my kindle malfunctioned on the second to last page 📄 so I was about to throw my kindle because there was no way the story ended at “What the fuck is this? What does that even mean?”
(Alas, I made it to the last page and I’m not telling you shit, go read it!!!!)
Ashok burn right hand of men. To Neptune, rebirth in blue fire.
Everitt fears for his life. He feels like he is going insane and losing control, and he documents it all within the pages of Notes by Matthew Vaughn….
I swear, every time Matt writes something new it becomes my new favourite!🖤
TAKE NOTE: This is fucking incredible! It's intense, deeply disturbing, incredibly addictive and completely captivating. It will leave you feeling surreal and will definitely leave a lasting impression! Its a brilliantly horrific headfuck, like a seriously fucked up acid trip. It is genius in its gruesome, chilling narration that will get right in under your skin and in between every little crease and crevice of your mind! It will stick with you like a post-it on a fridge! (Sorry, not sorry! 😂)
It's a really short read that is rammed with the thoughts and actions of a man descending into a truly unsettling spiral of confusion and insanity, with horrifying and heart rending results. I felt the sheer terror this character must've felt and it left me cold and scared to close my eyes. I also dont think I'll ever be able to use post-its again……
"Luck was on my side when I heard something in the kitchen. I froze, my head turned so one ear was facing toward the kitchen. If someone was in there, how was it possible they got into my place without me seeing them?"
Everitt wakes one morning to find a random post-it note in his apartment. The post-it makes no sense, and he has no idea how it got there.. slowly, over time, he finds more and more post-its around the house and is adamant someone or something is creeping in at night and leaving them.. making him descend into madness.
This was such a fun short story. It was creepy, weird, and the ending was completely unexpected, although I had an idea of where it was going, the ending itself surprised me.
If you have a spare 30 minutes, this is certainly worth a read!
Imagine waking up every day to random Post-it notes around your apartment that you don't remember writing. That's exactly what Everitt is going through.
Each note he finds leads him deeper and deeper into the mystery of how and why this is happening. Will he figure it out? Will it ever end? What is this madness?
Vaughn consistently delivers top-notch stories. This is another winner. His writing style always draws you in, and it keeps you engaged til the end. His twists and turns in his stories put M. Night Shyamalan to shame. Stop reading this review and dive into Notes instead. Read all of his books. Go on.
Loved this short story. I snagged this off of Godless and the whole idea caught my attention.
What would you do if you woke up to notes in your apartment, that you don't remember writing, and you live alone?
This was insanely intense and had me on the edge almost as soon as I started it, I'm a fast reader but I was pushing to finish faster so I could figure out what the fuck.
Loved it.

I can't say much about the story besides what the summary is without giving anything away. The whole story takes a hard turn a few pages in and keeps getting crazier. A fast read and highly recommended .
I devoured this short story. While Vaughn’s voice as a writer is very different from that of William Pauley III, Notes gave me strong Eighth Block Tower vibes. Solid bizarro. Didn’t expect that ending but I’m not mad. Read it.
If you’re expecting Matt’s usual splatterpunk, you’d be wrong, but that’s not a bad thing at all. “Notes” is still a wild ride from start to finish. It’s a short read so to give anything away about the plot would spoil it. Vaughn never disappoints and I enjoyed the hell out of this one!
