While this is very good for the experienced hiker who wants to explore the Adirondack Mountains, for me, who is a novice hiker who hasn’t climbed any mountains and was hoping to read more about what a novice would need in this range, it felt like it was too much. The author has many excellent tips at the start of the book - they are useful for all hikers of any level. But after that, when he starts to describe the trails in more detail, that seemed a little too detailed for the newcomer. But I would recommend it to experienced hikers
Received this as an advanced reader copy courtesy of NetGalley. I’ve read James’s previous High Peak book “From 1 to 46” and this seems like the new and improved version in addition to combining his podcast stories. The maps are better and it combines trail information as well as his story of climbing each peak. It was an enjoyable read and fun to reminisce on my own experiences of becoming a 46er.
One of the best books I have read! I prefer books with shorter chapters and this one is near perfect. Only problem is i’m now excited to begin my summer himing season and its mid march :-|
I really enjoyed this book. I’ve listened to his podcast and follow along with his story on social media and he’s a great guy! This book just makes me want to get up there an hike. I found it really helpful to hear someone’s personal opinions on each of the hikes and their personal tips and tricks. As I write this now I’m 10/46 on my 46er journey!!
