This is a scattershot waltz through the history of Yellowstone National Park. There is one photograph on the cover and no other illustrations, maps, etc. This has the feel of a children’s book and more illustrations would benefit this book. I didn’t care for the authors writing style. It seemed a little flowery when a more journalistic style was needed. The chapter entitled “The Night of the Grizzlies” seemed particularly loaded with problems, odd transitions and confusing gaps in the narrative.
This is a quick and easy read consisting of a number of short anecdotes about the history of Yellowstone. As someone unfamiliar with the area hoping to learn some history and fun facts, this was the perfect book for me.
