Knot Your Basic B*tch

Rate this book
Who wants a shot at love and a pack of their very own? Not this b*tch.

After growing up in the famous Stryker pack, with six dads, two moms and fifteen siblings, do you know what I want? To finally get some F*#!ING peace and quiet.

Too bad I’ve perfumed and had to sign up at the Institute as an omega.

Nothing will stand between me and my dream—to finally get a nice calm secretarial job—not even sexy twins or chiseled abs. At least, that's what I tell myself.

But when destiny crashes into all my careful plans with HOT scent matches, will I be able to cling to my hope for a simple life? Or will I let them sweep me off my feet?

Knot Your Basic B*tch is an MMFM omegaverse parody.

Not much character development between all of the alphas as a pack and also with their omega. (Two alphas fighting over a sandwich and then suddenly some bdsm/don vibes out of left field?) The author spent too much time describing the alpha auditions for her brother’s pack vs having an actual back story.

Chloe sleeps with one of the alphas within 2 min of meeting them with maybe 5 works spoken. The adult scenes weren’t even that great the first time she looses her virginity she didn’t even c@m?! wtf.

The third act break up was so so dumb. The dentist office…seriously…

On the bright side it was a quick read.

This was an ok book. I felt like I was missing part of the background of the Stryker pack. Chloe was a bit whiny and naive for me. She got a bit better by the end of the story. So overall it was a good quick read.

3⭐️ 3🌶

“You know how my scent is vanilla? They are chocolate, strawberry and banana. Together we literally smell like a neapolitan banana split.”

Fun, fast-paced, lighthearted, omegaverse parody, with some hilarious moments.

Loved it 🥰

I absolutely love this book so much and can't wait to see what other books this author brings out.
I give this book a five star rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
I recommend this book to anyone that loves omegaverse reverse harem books.

There are also plenty of spicy and dominant scenes between the female omega and her pack mates. 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶

There are also hot 🔥 🥵 and spicy 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 scenes between the MMM pack mates as well if you enjoy that as well.

cute sweet story

I loved how light and fluffy this book is. In some ways, it pokes fun at omegaverse stories, but in a cute and lighthearted way. Chloe and her alphas were perfect together but I would have loved to have seen more depth to their relationships. Overall, this was a cute story and a great palate cleanser.

Quick fun read.

This was a wonderful story that was a quick fun read. I was hooked right from the start and loved the humor that Miyo Hunter weaves throughout the story. I live how tight Close is.and how she knows what she wants. She and her men create a lot of spice. If you looking for a fun Omegaverse this is it.

Where do I even start with this one???

First things first, there was absolutely no connection between Chloe and the pack or even individually with the pack members. Chloe barely even interacted with Sabien or Brutus, mostly only with Kain (and even that wasn't that much). Kain showed the most legitimate interest in her past a physical omega level, followed by Brutus who clearly had interest in her wellbeing even though he had the most minimal amount of interaction with her. I truly don't understand how she could fall in love with Sabien when on literally every instance he showed little care for her beyond thinking she was hot. Like 2/3 separate times that he fucked her and he only made her orgasm during that 3rd circumstance because Brutus forced him into it? During the 2nd instance his twin brother Kain literally got her off three times and yet Sabien still didn't even make the effort to get her off once. Then whenever he would go sit with Chloe and his brother at lunch he would refuse to converse with either of them, literally just sat around on his phone and barely acknowledging them until she mentions having a free night off (to which he perks up and his mind goes directly to the gutter). Sorry not sorry, but at not point does it make sense for Chloe to have fallen in live with that guy... with any of them in general really because she literally knew nothing about them (not even gheir last name until basically the end of the book)... but she especially should not have fallen in live with Sabien.

Speaking of last names... I have never heard something more childish and immature in my life than Chloe having a literally mental breakdown over the fact that her pack has a silly last name. Like really? What are you, a big baby?

Very confused on how Chloe's older brother, who she describes as being quite a few years older, is as the institute with her and yet she somehow graduates within a year of entering? Like do omega's somehow only go for a year, while Alpha's are for longer? Also, there was never any mention of her pack attending the institute other than brief interactions of being on campus, so did they even attend? Additionally, I feel as if majority of this book was surrounding Chloe interviewing Alphas for her brother's pack (because literally who cares?) when it should have focused more on building the relationship between her and her own pack.

There definitely seemed like there was information missing regarding her family, and based off subtle hints within this novel to other novels that are part of the Poisonverse, I assume that there's some sort of connection? Which is kinda weird considering that this is supposed to be part of a different universe.

I also found thag there was some super weird things going on in this book surrounding comments based on family members. On several occasions Chloe made comments about how her brothers were attractive, had six pack abs, have seen their dicks before, etc... and I find that's just weird commentary to make about your own family in general.

Over all, the writing itself was decent but the plot and storyline just wasn't done well.

Read this if you need ridiculousity to drag you out of a bad mood, otherwise don't bother

If the ending was not so abrupt, I may have scored this slightly higher but it very oddly ends mid random shopping trip. That said, it's not all bad. Chloe had the potential to be a better FMC than the author gave us but she was likeable and her motivation was almost reasonable. There was a bit too much about her brother, lunch foods and her noise aversion and not enough of anything else. Brutus especially is just this shell of a Dom, like we're supposed to find it attractive that he is strong but shafts all responsibility onto Kain? Sabien is mostly useless and apparently irrelevant. Oddly, in the second book I've read in three days, Brutus and Sabien have some sandwich drama that we never get the details on, which is really just annoying for the amount the author harped on their little sandwich drama. Kain seems truly likeable and my only complaint about him is not getting more interaction between him and Chloe. All in all we just don't see enough of the guys to decide if we LIKE like them.
Chloe's family is loud and messy and overwhelming but we don't see any real discord so her strong aversion is not quite in line. Titus is around but weird so I can't tell if he's truly oblivious and self-centered or if he is trying to maneuver her into socializing at the institute.

The best, most ridiculous, absolutely awful wonderful overreacting I've ever read hands down goes to her dad brigade though. There is a good sprinkling of humor throughout but their scene pretty much deserves one star on its own for sheer bananas.

Probably the worst aspect of this book is the lack of world building. I don't understand the various omega classifications. Apparently there are different bond types but we don't learn anything beyond one being called a princess bond. I can't even figure out if the institute is a governmentally required activity, how the institute works, and if she has any sort of legal autonomy when she tries to refuse attending. The book is very fast paced but that's because it's a very shallow story to begin with. I don't hate it but it's not something I would recommend paying to read.

The Fanny Pack

Chloe is one of many children in her pack. She has multiple fathers and two mothers. Her house is absolute chaos all the time and she is counting down the days until she can go to college and become a secretary. After realizing she is actually an omega, she gets sent to the institute to further her education on being an omega. While there she meets her scent mate Kane, and instantly panicked because she doesn’t want mates, she wants to be alone and live a quiet life. The scent mating is too strong to deny, and she ends up falling for Kane and his pack mates Sabine, and Brutus. This was a quick read, and started off really good.

What I liked about the book was Chloe’s independence. She was a girl who knew what she wanted and was determined not to sway from her path. She tried to fight that insta love connection you can get from your scent marked. Kane was really level headed and I loved the aquarium. The guys complimented her well, and we love Brutus’s big D energy. The heat was great too. The downside for me in this book was the no shifting or really any “shifter” type energy in this book. You almost would feel like you were reading about humans and not shifter if you didn’t get words like Alpha and Omega thrown in a lot to remind you it was a shifter book. The first meeting with the dads was crazy over the top, and then the ending was a little strange and abrupt. The things that she picked out for her den were reminiscent of a teenage girl, and I honestly thought she was joking around, but she wasn’t. That was confusing with the character that she was through the whole book. To me she comes off very intelligent, and mature. That really threw me and then the book ends. I really did enjoy the first 80% of the book. The last couple chapters just really went a little left for me. It was a good read.

This is a hidden gem; I primarily read darker omegaverses but this one caught me off guard with how funny it is. It is a very tongue in cheek parody and pokes gentle fun at everything from the FMC's name to the alpha's scents. Chloe is from a family of superstars and she just wants a quiet life after getting through school. We only meet a few of Chloe's family members however they definitely leave an impression and I would love to read more about the Stryker pack!

I really did have tears of laughter at the pack names towards the end, the Neapolitan ice cream and the dentist office intervention/rescue was hilarious. The romance is very fast paced which is my only minor gripe; there isn't really much time to develop the MMCs, Kain, Sabien and Brutus but what I did see I really liked. Kain is the star for me and I felt his connection to Chloe was the strongest of the three and I would have loved more time with him, Sabien and Brutus to understand their dynamic a little better especially as Brutus was a powerhouse of character.

Miyo Hunter is a new to me author but I'm looking forward to catching up on her other works.

My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read

This was quiet the story. It was fast paced and spicy. I absolutely loved Chloe and her basic Vanilla smell. Kaine said it best that everything you make always starts with vanilla.

Chloe has big dreams of going to college after living in a family household of several people and all she wants is a quiet boring life as a beta by working a job as a secretary only for her dreams to be sidetracked when she comes out as an Omega and has to go to the institute, but that's ok she'll make some changes, but then her brother wants her to interview Alpha's for his pack he's creating. Oh let the fun begin. I think my favorite was the guy she had go get her lunch and he wasn't to draw attention to himself. I laughed so hard at what he did, but amongst the interviews she finds her scent match and she's trying to reject him and he tells her "No" and she kinda has a mini meltdown. Ahhhh the fun she finds herself in with these 3 Kain, Sabien and hot stuff himself Brutus. But everything has a way working out as she quickly found out. I loved this story and these character's.

Format: 📱 eBook 📱

A light-hearted, fast paced, quick read OV novel with minimal angst. I honestly read this book in about two hours; it was that quick to get through.

It was a fun story with banter, some very laugh out loud moments, and also some very sweet moments. The spice was okay - and for an OV novel, it wasn't a huge focus - and I really enjoyed that Chloe wasn't your typical omega - though I do wish we had more of her and her reasons as to why.

I do feel that the book could have been longer to give us more depth to the characters, and I also felt like we were thrown right into the deep end in chapter one with no backstory, especially after given the list of all the names/designations of the family (it honestly felt like I'd stumbled into a defined universe/shared world, but couldn't find any other books in the "series"). At times I actually felt like the story was more about Chloe auditioning Alpha's for her brother's pack, over the development of her own.

Honestly did not understand the third act aspect, especially with the dads - that was incredibly OTT and totally out of left wing, considering we'd barely touched on Chloe's parents through the story.

Did I enjoy reading it and disappearing from reality for the two hours it took me to read? Yes. Would I read again/explore the series further beyond this book? Honestly, probably not.

Knot Your Basic B*tch: High Fructose Corn Syrup Verse is written by Miyo Hunter.

💜 omegaverse
💜 large family
💜 university
💜scent matches
💜 🌶🌶🌶 spice

Chloe is just surrounded all day everyday. Surrounded by noise. Surrounded by dirty clothes. Surrounded by people and chaos. Her family is so big and she’s ready to be able to go to the university and and some space of her own. She just knows she’s going to be a beta and can’t think of anything worse than being an omega. Look at all of her siblings and her moms are pregnant, again. Who would want to go through that? And if she were to be an omega, her dreams could be taken away? Why would she want to pack up and give up everything?

This was a fun take on an omegaverse story. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but this was sweet and could be something that a twenty year d would normally go through in life. I liked how the characters and world were written and found myself a little safe when it was all done. I enjoyed this story so much.

This story was a fun, fast paced and witty read. Chloe isn't like a regular omega, striving for the pack and babies right away. She wants to finish school and get her dream job.

I felt like there needed to be a lot more character development with everyone! One of the mmc's isn't even introduced until more than halfway through the story, then to only end up sleeping with him with little to no words spoken after having just met him. I think if the story built up to him earlier and Chloe felt like she learned or knew more about him before this scene, it would've been better. There's a couple crazy scenes thrown in at the end that felt come from nowhere or they were completely over the top.
I liked the thought behind the story and I liked Chloe's personality. Overall still an okay read.

A Quick Omegaverse Read

I love a good omegaverse, and Miyo Hunter gave us a book that is so amazing that she hit it out of the park! I could not put this book down. Once I read those first couple chapters, I was hooked, and there was no way I was stopping until I the book was done!! The story was cute and funny. The plot line ran smoothly, and I completely adored and fell in love with the characters. I loved that Chloe wasn't your typical omega who only wanted a pack. She is independent with dreams and goals and wants a quiet life. In comes her scent match to blow that all up, and we get a comedic wild ride of Chloe learning to accept her pack and the guys learning to love and woo her. It's a fast read and a guaranteed HEA.

it was cute

Not my favorite book. I like a bit of excitement or drama and there was not a single ounce of it in this book. I liked the story line although it’s one I’ve read a thousand times I know what I am getting and it was a quick and easy read. I guess the only thing I did not like is that it just ended. Like at a store having a conversation and then, turn the page and it was over. Like I felt like I missed out on a lot of potential that could have happened.

** potential spoilers**

She literally prevented alphas from joining her brothers pack and there was no reproductions? Non of them made any kind of stink? The bonding was so sudden and anticlimactic…

Anyway, like I mentioned above it was a quick easy read.

First - I found the dedication hilarious!

This book is so cheesy that it’s Brie. But I honestly loved it. It is a very sweet omegaverse with very little angst. This book is not a serious one. It pokes fun at itself and the characters are a bit ridiculous at times, but they are so adorable. The FMC has her academic plan set out and just wants BORING! Her MMCs, though, are determined to get her to accept them no matter what. Also, that was a wild throwback for tamagotchis. I forgot those existed! I haven’t read anything else by this author, but I can definitely say that, based on this book, I will definitely be reading more from her.

So much fun and humor! I love that Chloe is the opposite of the stereotypical omega. She dreams of mediocrity! After growing up in a ginormous, loud, and chaotic household I can’t say I blame her.
It was a fun surprise to realize that this was set in the same world as the PoisonVerse but so fluffy. Seeing the family relationships (hello crazy brothers and overprotective fathers) as well as how her relationship with her scent matches evolves is great! Love that it gives a deeper understanding of Chloe.
I definitely need more of her family and this lighter world. I want to know how Titus’ pack gets on, how her parents met, and so much more!

This was a cute but fast paced book! Everything did happen quicker than I expected it to without any drama which was surprising! So if you are looking for an easy simple but cute read I’d definitely recommend this.
Chloe wants a simple quiet easy life she thinks she’s a beta but when she perfumes she realises that isn’t the case she’s sent to the institute. Her brother Titus gets her interviewing alphas for his pack, whilst doing this she meets Kain and they both know straight away that they are scent matches, she then gets to know him and then his brother Sabien! And finally she meets Brutus.

I was crying with laughter at Fanny pack!
Also can we talk about how pretty the cover is!!!

I need more of this series! Tons of funny banter & crazy hot scenes. Chloe is just wanting to find some peace & quiet, which I can relate to well as I also come from a huge family (grandma had 14 living kids, my mom had 6 & I have 4). The interviews Titus had her do to help find him a pack were entertaining (shout out to the one who was army crawling lol). I can agree that I wouldn’t want her potential pack name either cause it’s too funny, I was not prepared for Brutus’ name suggestion & almost burst out laughing cause it was hilarious.

Knot Your Basic B*tch by Miyo Hunter is the first in the High Fructose Corn Syrup Verse. Chloe is part of a huge famous family. Her moms keep popping out babies. Her dads are a highly trained, famous pack that everyone wants to know and be a part of. Chloe just wants to graduate from college and get a nice quiet job. While doing a favor for her brother, she meets her scent match. Takes her a minute to come around to wanting her scent matched pack, but she gets there. HEA. Loved the guys. They are perfect for Chloe.

Totally in love with the book and it has you going 100 mph right? Then the ending hits….. and it just drops you like you didn’t go through extreme highs and lows together. :/ I was going to give it five stars but that freaking ending bro 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🫥🫥🫥🫥 loved it about as much as a punch to the gut. The more I think of it the more I kinda wanna cry because the whole book was great, not amazing but was a quick safe read. If you don’t mind a simple wrap up with no meat for the ending this is 5/5 then for you.

Little Character Development

This is an interesting take on the omegaverse and given it’s called “high fructose corn syrup verse” I can only imagine the author felt reading this story might be hazardous to your health? Or sticky sweet? While it’s not hazardous in the least, it does seem a bit contrived. Creating drama for the sake of drama. The characters leaped into bed way too soon and honestly I don’t even know what the “break up” was or why it even needed to happen. Too much happens off page to be truly compelling.

This is an omegaverse that doesn’t take itself too seriously! From the dedication on this is a funny/cheeky story and I really enjoyed it. I found myself laughing out loud throughout this entire book! The one liners are so funny.

I loved Chloe’s inner dialogue! From her alpha a-hole red flag list to her love of books she was so easy to root for. I like how she agreed to help her brother find a pack and that leads her to someone she never expected to meet. This was a quick read and I hope we get more of these books in the future!

Sort of parody

I knew this was a parody going in. Parts of it were obviously written as one, others were not, and it got a bit difficulty to discern about 70% through. A lot of the writing was repetitive, which seems less like parody and more like just bad writing. In desperate need of an editor for certain chapters. I didn't hate it, but it was very confusing and not well written. The first 2/3rds I really enjoyed, despite the repetition, but everything after that felt like it was being phoned in.

Sickly sweet and hilarious

There were so many amazing laugh out loud moments in this book. From the conversations, to the essay topics, inner monologue, Daddy rescue missions and boyfriend interviews, I had so much fun reading this book.
I felt like there were some missing parts, like Kain and the aquarium and why he spends so much time there. The relationship dynamics between the alphas, the purpose of the institute and its weird curriculum and a more in depth exploration of just how basic Chloe really is.
I had such fun with this book and read it over an afternoon.

Knot Your Basic B*tch by Miyo Hunter is a MMFM Omegaverse parody and is delightfully hilarious and nothing like I had ever read before!

My only complaint is that I wish it was longer! I'd love to know more about the famous Stryker pack. I adored the delicious chemistry between Chloe, Kain, Sabien and Brutus. I ❤️ Brutus!

I devoured this book in one sitting and I absolutely need more of the High Fructose Corn Syrup verse!

Highly recommend for anyone wanting a quick, light read with lots of laughs and some great steamy scenes thrown in for good measure.

Chloe Stryker is horrified to discover that she is an omega and forced to attend The Institute. But nothing will deter her from her dreams of becoming a secretary, a nice quiet life far away from her chaotic family home and her multiple siblings. Taking on extra classes and interviewing alphas for her brother's pack, she is terrified when she meets her scent match. Of course she has to reject him, too bad he won't accept her rejection and now she is being courted by The Fanny Pack. (Yes, you read that right!) This was hilarious and a wonderful spoof.

Was a rather light read, but did felt a bit.. flat. Ending also felt super abrupt, and there were points in the book I was really questioning things… like tamagotchis?? (For finals?? And worth 50%?? What??) And then the general stereotype and somewhat Mary Sue feeling of FMC? Wasn’t too bad, but also everything that was an “issue” just felt really surface level, or was brushed past really fast (like that one weird creeper alpha she had to interview). Overall something to read to pass time, but not quite memorable in a way that I’ll remember the plot in a few months…

Honestly I should have DNFed this. I did not like it at all. Absolutely no chemistry between the FMC and any of the MMCs (or any chemistry between the MMCs who are supposed to already be in a relationship). Honestly she only really speaks to one of the alphas and the other two don't even seem to care. The alpha interviews for her brother were so weird. It seemed like this whole book was just making fun of other omegaverse book - but I currently love most things omegaverse so it just came off so gross to me. Definitely didn't enjoy this one.
