This series is quickly becoming my go-to for pure shoujo fluff!!
I loved this volume as much as the first even though I was sad she ditched her glasses and then got all of these comments of how cute she suddenly is when she has ALWAYS been cute! I think that will be my only "beef" with this series because I love Aoi and Sena so much and was THRIVING seeing them start to develop feelings for one another! I don't think I'll tire of the popular boy x shy girl trope because it is so wonderful to see romance bloom between them!
I really really loved the "practice date" they went on and was squealing at how much fun they were having together! Not only that but seeing how Sena IS falling for Aoi had me squealing AND kicking my feet! Loving how supportive he is of Aoi even though there were signs he was jealous or at least a little bit upset about it!
But then the ending and Aoi questioning her feelings, cue more squealing! I am VERY excited to see what happens next and hope both of them move forward in actually confessing because alllll the signs are there that they like each other! EEEEPPP!!

The first part of this volume really doesn’t do much for me - Aoi and Sena going off on their fake date is just a ball of awkward and is mostly about Aoi feeling bad and Sena having fun but not saying so. It sets up what’s to come, but isn’t interesting in and of itself.
After, things keep progressing between Aoi and Tokunaga, to the point where it feels like we’re going to be seeing one of the only honest-to-god love triangles in manga history (all the many love triangles with No Hope Rivals do not count).
Would that we should be so lucky. Despite bonding over dogs, preparing a date, and meeting up for said date, well, it is believable that high school boys are so fickle, I give you that. However, it does feel very forced with how it just yanks Tokunaga out of the frame. It’s better than lingering on it, but there had to have been a more organic way to dispense with him.
Once this all gets dealt with, however, the quality on this one jumps up a few notches. Aoi is adrift, but Sena sure has been paying a lot of attention to her, both fake date and otherwise. Which we knew wound happen, yes, but it’s still a notch above anything else to this point.
In one of those ‘until it’s gone’ moments, Aoi suddenly notices the Sena-shaped hole in her life when he isn’t around during summer vacation, since her brother is busy and Sena isn’t there hanging out. You can throw in absence making the heart grow fonder too, or at least taking the blinders off.
Given her dismal confidence and general lack of experience, it’s not entirely unbelievable that Aoi doesn’t get what’s happening here. Especially since she and Sena have long orbited one another anyway, so he’s perilously close to the friend zone anyway.
Watching Aoi slowly come to terms with these feelings is way more fun than her having a mere crush and then just waffling on acting on it for however many volumes (which will likely happen). Aoi’s coming into herself and it’s a neat bit of growth.
Naturally we end up at the beach, but this is where we learn the sort of fanservice our mangaka is into, as the boys immediately strip down and Aoi flat-out rejects the notion of swimming. It’s fun seeing that sort of honesty from the author, there are abs for days here, plus it’s never bad to deviate from the norm once in a while.
It’s not a bad bit of business once it gets the cruft out of the way. The back part of this is absolutely stellar and a real good time. The first part is okay but incredibly pedestrian and the change in quality is both noticeable and appreciated.
3.5 stars - rounded up because the last section really is that good. The first bits are average, but, when this decides to actually go where it was always going to anyway, it becomes so much better.

3 stars. Cute but I'm still not digging some of the older shoujo vibes. I do like the small changes, like the guy she asked out not being a player and being honest about getting a girlfriend between the setting of the date and the date. I did not care for the immediate return and continued return of her not wearing contacts. Wearing them as a sign of confidence, sure, but wearing them to get a date and then after rejection away they go is tedious and the manga can't seem to decide which way it is going, leaving a vague "ugh" taste with elements like that.

I liked this one a little less than the first one. I wish the making friends aspect wasn’t dropped so fast. I want her to have a friend group to rely on too. The ML is okay so far. He doesn’t feel like anything to write home about yet. Oh and the mom’s behavior was a little wierd at the end of this volume.

Aoi Tsujimura, daughter of a prominent shojo mangaka, considers herself an NPC in her own life. She is not particularly talented at anything or remarkable in her studies. As time goes by in high school, Aoi compares herself to the shojo protagonists her mother writes and decides to try and become the lead in her own life.
Her brother and his friend have decided that they best way for her to become the lead is to find a male lead for her, and they stumble across the perfect male lead for her. Aoi has to decide how much she is willing to change to pursue a relationship.

Oo, I had so much fun with this volume!
I'm really enjoying the slow buildup of the romance and Aoi's character growth. I really love how she didn't put all her focus on getting a boyfriend. She wants a romance, but she also wants to grow her social circle and make friends. I thought that was so well done.
Something that took me out a little bit was some of the editing done? I know most manga are drawn digitally nowadays, but one panel looked so obviously photo edited that it took me out a little bit and made me pull out older mangas I have to compare and contrast with. I think it's great that things are becoming easier for mangakas but still took me out of the story.
Still a great volume.

Beh, ormai ci sono pochi dubbi sulla direzione che prenderà questa storia.
Aoi continua il suo percorso di crescita e alla ricerca di un amore stile protagonista di shojo manga. Ovviamente non è facile cambiare e liberarsi dalle proprie insicurezze, fare i conti con una bassa autostima non è proprio una passeggiata. Ma ormai ha capito che può contare sul supporto non solo di quell'invasato del fratello maggiore, ma anche di Sena - ormai diventato la persona in cui confida di più, la persona che per certi versi ha dato il via a questo cambiamento. Un amico speciale, ma già verso la fine del volume si capisce che le cose potrebbero prendere una piega più interessante...con sommo imbarazzo di Aoi 😅 peraltro sono abbastanza sicura che anche Sena non sia del tutto indifferente, mi sembra un po' troppo coinvolto per poter essere definito un semplice "amico" 🤔
P.s.: Tokunaga l'abbiamo già perso visto che si è trovato una fidanzata - la delusione iniziale di Aoi è grande, ma poi si accorge di aver rimosso la cosa piuttosto velocemente e di aver passato buona parte delle vacanze estive a chiedersi quando avrebbe rivisto Sena, if you know what I mean 😏 la ship è pronta a partire 🥳

Últimament, l'algoritme de Twitter em mostra uns comptes que fan unes recomanacions de shojosei 100% ON POINT ♥ Aquesta sèrie és la típica història d'amor d'institut entre una noia molt introvertida i poc sociable que té un germà estrella del bàsquet i un any més gran ben popular. A més la mare és mangaka de shojo d'èxit i a la família són força cursis i romàntics, però la noia no viu bé estar a l'ombra de dues persones tan talentoses... El germà i un company de l'equip de bàsquet de la mateixa classe que la germana decideixen ajudar-la a tenir més confiança en ella mateixa i l'animen a buscar xicot (mmmm well...). Sorpresa, sorpresa apareixen feelings inesperadament Molt cuqui!!!

So glad the Tokunaga arc got over quicker than I expected, honestly. I was dreading the unnecessary drama and much to my relief, we didn't get it. I'm loving the little blushes and crushes blooming between Sena and Aoi. Itsuki is shaping up to be my favorite character in the series (loving the banter between him and his sister)!

Very sweet and cute! This is a nice read with minor drama that will make you smile. Glasses = not cute but contacts = pretty face was not a great start but other than that it rolled forward and she's gaining confidence. The ending feels inevitable but it's going to be a happy and fun read on the way there.
