Paul Carson is a doctor based in south Dublin where he runs an Asthma and Allergy clinc for children. He has published a number of health books and, as well as weiting various medical journals, he was editor of Irish Doctor magazine. Dr Carson is married and has two children.

Fast paced thriller with a very tense ending. An excellent holiday read.

"Eigentlich hatte ich einen ziemlich guten Einstieg in das Buch und Carsons Art zu Schreiben hat mir auch sehr gut gefallen, nur leider konnte ich dann überhaupt nicht verstehen, wo der Thrill sein soll, wenn man von Beginn an weiß, wer der Mörder ist.
Dieser Zustand hat mir dann auch das Weiterlesen vermiest und somit habe ich dann schon beim ersten Buch nach ca. 100 Seiten aufgehört und "Tod in Dublin" gar nicht erst angeguckt."


Beinahe wäre ich mit "Herzalarm" so verfahren wie damals mit dem "Skalpell". Paul Carson konnte mich auch hier nicht so recht fesseln und das Verhalten der meisten Charaktere kann ich überhaupt nicht nachvollziehen. Ansätze für einen spannenden Krimi waren da, aber leider war alles irgendwie zu platt und langweilig.

Paul Carson is a doctor by profession.
He delivered very nicely plotted medical thriller with excellent imagination and characterization.
I liked it very much in every aspect. It has heart pounding suspense which is an asset to the story and makes it difficult to put down till the ending. Although it is of medical background, but it is not less than a spy thriller.
It would have been a great experience to watch it as a feature film.
I am very keen to read other novels by him.
I will give it 4.5 out of 5

I enjoyed the book; somehow, Paul Carson’s story reminded me of Michael Crichton's medical thrillers that delve into unusual cases in a doctor's practice. Final Duty is well worth a read, especially if you enjoyed Carson’s Scalpel.
