for a shojo manga, i’m very surprised at the amount of political intrigue and war occurring, but i’m not mad!

I think Su-won is much more conflicted about what he's done than he lets on. When he saw Yona and Hak, he somehow gave off the impression of standing on shaky ground. They, on the other hand, seem to grow stronger and more certain by the day.

Fantastic volume!

I don't know why this volume was different, but I did not like the battle aspect in the previous volume and already braced myself to not enjoy this one, but how silly I was because obviously if Su-won is going to be the "main character," then of course it will be good! Not only that but Geun-tae and Ju-do, who I absolutely adore seeing on page, had so much spotlight! Their banter and friendship is everything and never tire seeing it, especially since they are the "old men" in this manga and love seeing them get some love and spotlight. Truly, all three of these characters are awesome and it was definitely quite the epic "meeting" when our bandits and King see each other.

Also Tae-Jun!!! *sobs* I truly hope this will NOT be the last we see of him! I absolutely have loved his character and was crushed when the mangaka said the Fire Tribe Arc is ending. His brother was equally a great character and was so touched by his actions, but even more so by Su-won.

Unpopular opinion: Su-won is amazing and absolutely LOVE how it seems him and Yona are "working together"! I think she is 1000% correct in voicing that their country needs someone with tremendous strength to lead and that that person is him. I officially will need to look into getting merch of him because he really has become one of my favorite characters in this series (though he isn't quite up there with my love for Sinha and Gija, but he's definitely in the top 3!). If he's suppose to be a villain, he's doing a horrible job because he is looking out for this county splendidly.

Though of course he couldn't have done it without Yona and truly admire how he is not ignoring the work she is doing and being mindful of what she has done. (The grain is a prime example.) Granted, he may have not realized it before now, but I think its just the beginning in a positive way. Truly, I hope there comes a point where all three of these dear friends can come together once again in a peaceful way that unites all of Kohka.

Lastly, that final scene with Yona and Hak had me FINALLY wanting to see more of them together in a romantic light! It's the first time I've felt that way because while I like their ship a lot, this is the moment that I knew I really would love for them to be a couple. The way he cheered for Yona and bet his all on her was awesome. Also the way Yona's feelings are changing was super cute!

This volume definitely caught me by surprise in how much I enjoyed it! I'll definitely have to get this volume just because of the cover alone because they are all so cool!

The last several volumes have been kind of meh for me so this volume was a real pleasure to read because now I finally understand what where the story is going. With the conflict with the Fire Tribe coming to a head, its clear that Kusanagi wants her characters to unite the tribes a la King Arthur and I can totally dig that. Its a really great political goal for Yona and Su-won to fight over and it helps me understand how some of the "pointless" side quests are actually important. It was really nice to see how characters that had been developed separately start to come together, like Tae-jun, Gun-Tae, and the rest of Su-won's court. The only thing I don't get is how Kusanagi plans on dealing with the Su-won vs Yona conflict further down the line. The first few volumes aside, Su-won has been shown to be a strong, wise king who is actually doing a heck of a lot of good for the country. Its not an issue of overthrowing a tyrant or an incompetent king anymore. As I can't see Yona and Su-won getting together romantically (don't do it, Kusanagi! Don't do it!) someone is going to have to go. I guess we'll see what happens.

This was a great volume! It had a little bit of everything to satisfy you. Many of the previous plotlines are starting to come together and showing their impact on the story/world. It’s amazing how Mizuho Kusanagi balances all the plotlines and keeps them building through small moments. Literal glances between characters tell you so much about how the characters are feeling!!

Also, love how Yona’s impact is everywhere ❤️ she’s grown so much already 🥺

I have mixed feelings about this book. I love that the four dragons are finally together but there is nothing really happening. The story line is not advancing one iota. Yona doesn't know what she wants and is just composing as she goes. These volumes lack progress.
However I will keep reading because I have hopes for the romance and I just the interaction between all the dragons!

Can't really say anything without spoiling this series at this point... just read it! The art is amazing, the characters are well developed and there is a tiny bit of romance... hopefully we get more!

Amazing

This series is my favorite shoujo manga not your typical manga of this type plenty of action and adventure with everything else. The characters are still great the story this time focuses on Su Won and how he handles the fire tribe lord and also I loved seeing more of Taejun. The story was really good it focused on the battle between the royal group the invaders with Yona and group fighting looking forward to reading more soon.

A war is waging in Kohka, between the Fire Tribe and the Sky Tribe.

I have some mixed feelings towards this volume because while I did really enjoy the climax of the story arc, and this volume features one of my favourite chapters, I didn't really think Yona and crew needed to be involved. They played the waiting game for majority of the previous volume with little payoff as I feel they didn't make much of a difference in the battle. I think it would have made more sense for them to have placed their efforts into defending the small farming villages at the border. Su-won had enough of a handle on the situation that I was confused as to why they even had to be there. I did like the way the fight scenes played out though, and found them very compelling.

As for improving Kohka, I really like how it's the combined efforts of Yona and Su-won that are really improving the country. The interactions between the HHB and Su-won never cease to stress me out, but I like that they're all working towards a common goal. Though I still can’t get over how two-faced Su-won is, and that’s what’s really stopping me from truly liking this character.

This volume also features one of my favourite chapters, with the gang going to market. This really is a more comedic chapter, but I love the development featured in terms of Yona’s romantic feelings. And of course I love seeing young Hak and Su-won, and it was fun learning the origin of Hak’s nickname.

Nice end to the uprising battle, and this continues to show how smart and cunning Su-Won really is. One thing I'm enjoying about how the political story is moving along is that I'm starting to believe that Su-Won may actually be a good ruler for Kohka...and where does that leave Yona, beyond her rightful claim to the throne and her desire to avenge her father's murder? Yona is doing what she can on the run, but Su-Won seems to be handling things really well, slowly uniting the tribes. This is going to make for some very interesting political and emotional dilemmas in the future.

There were also some nice Team Dragon moments sprinkled about in this volume, and it seems we're heading to the Water Tribe next? Exciting!

“I don’t want to be doing something like this. But by doing this, if I can save even just one Fire Tribe citizen, then this is something I must do.”

This was the most epic and satisfying way of saying goodbye to what has been, at least so far, my favorite arc of the series. I will miss the Fire Tribe a lot and hope that we can revisit it often.

Seeing the paths connecting, more like overlapping a little, of Soo-won and Yona and Hak was both terribly bittersweet and heartwrenching and really fun and cool. I like the idea that they can never severe that little silver thread that connects them, even if it does bring me some heartache.

For all the conflicting feelings I've had over Soo-won I think this volume did a lot into settling what I want this story to be in the end, which is saying quite a lot.

Primarily, though, the focus was settling things down and fixing the messes that had been long-standing , and in that capacity, it was all I could have hoped for. Getting my boy Tae-jun the recognition he has earned brought joy to my heart and all the good omens make me a little less anxious for what is to come.

It is not goodbye, for the Fire Tribe, but merely a see you later.

Ugh, this series. It's CLEARLY trying to get me invested in Su-won's story along with Yona's.

And...it's, well...working.

Why??? I was so determined to hate this guy at the beginning of the series. 😖

As a side note, Tae-Jun is endearing himself to me more each time I see him. Actually, now that I think about it, he was also annoying near the beginning.
I'm sensing a recurring theme here...

This volume gave us everything! Action, angst, character development, emotional moments, flashbacks, and more! The author definitely puts drugs in these books, that’s for sure 🫣 Love it when a story gets better and better as it grows and wouldn’t disappoint the readers or disturb them in any ways.

Loved the twists and the moments where everyone coped in the aftermath of the battle in their own ways that were honestly not boring at all!
