The amount of emotions that flow out of this book is insane. I was hurt, outraged, lonely, loved, pissed, abandoned. I laughed, felt secure, and shame. Mazyar pulled every emotion from me in this book. And let's not forget to mention, my husband enjoyed this book too, but he doesn't know it. There are just a few spicy scenes, and they are ravenous 🌶🌶🌶
The FMC, Reeva, was built so intricately. She provided us with a bad ass, no fearing fighter with a naive, insecure coy & taunting side that gives into her softer side when the moment was right.
The focus on the world building was amazing, and the plot is incredibly unique. There are answers left unsaid, and I'm not mad about it. I'm coming for the 2nd book.
One of the most unique stories I have ever read. Beautifully written and scooped me up and into the world of different realms. Where memories may be dreams or reality and Reeva must fight for her survival. The suspense held me captivated and I am in complete awe.
I'm speechless... and trust me, it doesn't happen much. I was fascinated by this story from the beginning until the end. It was talking to me so loudly that I could hear it with my soul. Impressive, exciting, funny at times, deep and emotional. 5🌟 doesn't seem enough. Highly recommended.
What is not to love about this book! The mystery, constant action, forbidden romance, the world building! I love all of it! And I have to say the main male love interest is not my favorite guy lol I am rooting for Mori!!
What an amazing book! I don’t usually go for the dystopian genre but I enjoyed the world and the characters in this book. It is really well written and drew me in from the very beginning. I loved it!
By far my favourite read of the year, well re-read. since I technically read this in 2024. But it's THAT good I just had to read it again. And all the feelings were there, promise. This is basically my comfort-book. I take it everywhere with me to pass the time. It's such a great escapism from life. I feel like this review isn't enough, it doesn't do it justice. I.Mazyar is a freaking indie author and made this masterpiece with no publisher, no fancy team or anything. Every time I see other reviews on this book they genuinley make me tear up. I full on start bawling because of how much this book altered my world-view. I've been reborn. The protagonist (FMC) Reeva, is such a little sweetheart, but also a little devil. (or should I say deviless, ifykyk) I just felt so connected to every single character, no matter the gender, age or backstory. They're just so raw and oragnic, they're not your average severely overpowered overly- brilliant and obnoxious characters. They genuinley are so relatable, and I don't want to ever stop reading because of how attached I got to them all (Especially you Omaar) ANDDD it's a sci-fi dystopian theme???! Yes please give me 14 of them right now!
This was so intriguing!! Loved the mask dealer and the whole mystery behind the masks and the amnesia game! So many questions, I need to read the next book asap!!
This book completely blew me away. The concept alone is one of the most original things I’ve ever read.
In this world, if you do something against the law, your memories are erased and you’re stripped of who you are... turned into a blank slate and forced into labor. Eventually, you and your stolen memories are sent to auction, where the wealthy place bids on your past. The highest bidder doesn’t just watch your memories… they live them. They feel every emotion, every moment, every trauma and can even pull secrets from you that you didn’t know you had.
That alone is twisted in the best way. Then there’s the mask — honestly one of my favorite “characters” — and that’s when the Amnesia Game truly begins.
Reeva goes through so much in this book, but what I loved most is that she never stops fighting for herself. I felt genuinely connected to her at times, and her strength kept me fully invested. This book had me constantly guessing what would happen next... nothing was predictable, and that is absolutely my cup of tea. It was intense, unsettling, emotional, and impossible to put down.
I loved this book. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever read, and I’m so thankful not only to own it, but to know the author on a personal level after experiencing her work. Purely amazing. I can’t wait to continue this series and see what’s next from such a talented author.
Masood here (Agent Falafel/TikTok). Your book didn’t just change my brain chemistry, it helped me fight through personal sh*. The FMC’s story hit close to home. The plot in this book is very unique. I’ve never read anything like it. Mask Dealer was one of my top 10 reads in 2024, and Soul Dealer is in my top 3 this year.
Some people don’t understand what creative writing is, or a writer’s stylistic approach to a story. The em dash, semicolon police, I call them. Loud as hell with no grasp of grammar and zero understanding of how art works. The emotions I felt reading this book(my dad and sister too) were overwhelming. No computer could write anything like that. I’ve seen other authors get attacked online for using punctuation correctly, like grammar was just invented last week. Pure ignorance. Uncalled for.
Please keep writing. Ignore the loud ones. I can’t wait for your next book. Soul Dealer in this series is still my favourite btw. I keep thinking about it.
I absolutely loved this book - I wanted to devour this while simultaneously savoring every piece. This was so beautifully written and the the world building is so incredibly I felt like I was right there with Reeva.
I felt all the emotions and could feel the soul I. Mazyar put into it.
It is face paced and pulls you in from the very beginning. The game is so intriguing, and the memories and what Reeva experiences pulls so much sadness and I was angry for her. She is such an incredibly strong FMC with the perfect amount of sass! I loved her.
This left me basically frothing at the mouth and I need to dive into Soul Dealer as soon as possible.
Thank you I. Mazyar for this incredible story!
Don't let this sit too long on your TBR like I did - read this NOW!!!
I’m no grammar expert, but I do know that em-dashes are not periods and thus should not be used as frequently as the former. Let me preface this next point: I am not saying this is AI, but with the constant em-dashes people are going to think it is.
I couldn’t get through the verbose writing and the introduction of so many new terms in the first few pages that I couldn’t keep it straight. The FMC also immediately annoyed me, which usually isn’t an issue, but the writing kept taking me out of the story so I couldn’t tolerate a character annoyance too.
Finally, the formatting was inconsistent - some random sections were bolded and the fonts were alway dark (in nighttime mode) and I was unable to change font type and brightness in the Kindle app.
With a storyline that went unexpected places, a decent mystery and a good side character plus a strong-minded, if ditzy and not too bright, FMC. But the characterisation was very inconsistent, it felt like the book was written by two different people. I was not a fan of the MMC and his misogynist attitudes, the references to the fmcs purity/innocence went unchallenged. I didn't like the BF male side character, either. The monk and Mori were not as bad, although the latter was initially too pushy. The romance and BF relationships were incredibly insta which made it difficult to take seriously.
Immersive. Fast-paced. A totally transformative dystopian experience.
This book swept me off my feet. I was NOT ready for this--it's fast-paced, wild, dark, and thrilling, with potent characters and spice that will make you shiver (deliciously). Prepare to be delivered to an entirely different world. The main character, Reeva, is unbreakable, full of righteous anger, and bursting with heart. I can't wait for more from this author.
I have missed a good Dystopian dark fantasy read, and this is precisely what I needed. I felt every emotion possible. Mazyars's writing style was phenomenal and flowed so well. I enjoyed the poetic sentences that were thrown in and how well they flowed with the story! I am so glad I have book two on standby because I now have more questions than I did at the beginning haha. Pick this up! You won't regret it!
I had less than zero idea what was going on in the first half of this book. I also wasn't positive who the love interest was going to be. even at the end im not positive im right. not to mention he is married and has a child but is still obsessed with reeva. yikes. and somehow she went from stripper to monk sword extrordinare. im going to continue in hopes more of my questions are answered. cause I need to know who the rememberer was.
I buddy-read this novel, and let me tell you, I didn’t expect this from an indie author. I rarely enjoy books I find on TikTok, but this was a very pleasant surprise. The emotions this story evoked were something I would expect from a classic. Beautiful writing, emotional depth, and fluency put this storyteller at the top of my list for books I’ve read this year.
I cannot even put into words how I felt about this book. I felt all the emotions from happy sad angry to name a few. What’s whirlwind of a ride. I’ve never read anything like this before. I cannot wait to continue the series.
