After the sudden death of her parents, 21-year-old writer Claire O'Sullivan finds herself alone in the world. Struggling to cope with her double loss, her aunt buys her a ticket to Zimbabwe and urges her to spend a couple of months healing in the majestic surroundings of the African bush. Although she is hesitant, having never traveled further than her home in Dublin, Ireland, Claire gathers her courage and prepares to start again.
Overcome by emotion at the raw beauty of the savannah, Claire feels God's love inspire her. But slowly she begins to wonder if the wildness of the country around her has become more of an influence. Because, no matter how she tries to stop it, she also begins to feel moved by Seth Henderson, the handsome but troubled owner of the game reserve where she's staying. Having fought in the Rhodesian bush war and lost both of his own parents to Zimbabwe's troubled past, Seth has his own emotional skeletons.
Claire begins to feel more lost than ever as her strong Christian morals and rock-solid faith become confused by the undeniable attraction she feels towards Seth. And, as Claire turns more towards her faith and God to guide her, Seth pulls further away. To him, God has always been absent and elusive. Despite this, the attraction between them grows and Claire faces the biggest test of her faith.
Will Claire's prayer be strong enough to show her God's true plan?
Set against the backdrop of beautiful Zimbabwe, Claire's Prayer is a Christian fiction romance like none you'll have read before.
I really enjoyed this book - probably more so because it brought back so many memories of Zimbabwe to me. The book is written about Claire who goes over to Zimbabwe from Ireland to escape her torment of a family tragedy, and she meets the owner of Impunzi, a guest farm bordering the Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe where she meets the owner, Seth, who has problems of his own. I think this is the only part that was not enjoyable for me, the angst that is shared between these two main characters before the "romance" clicks in. I have to be honest, I prefer where the main characters of a book get together in the first half of the book rather than in the last chapter. Otherwise it was well written and very enjoyable!! I highly recommend "Claire's Prayer" ……...
Ugh...I struggled to get through this. Claire went to Zimbabwe from Ireland after her parents died, to heal. At a lodge and big game resort she falls for one of the proprietors, Seth. I liked all the characters...for the most part...except for Seth.. He was charming, handsome, cared deeply for people, but just wanted to sleep with Claire. What on earth she saw in him was hard to fathom. Get a clue to leave him in the dust when he says let's just make love and get over this. She got mad, told him off then proceeded to give him every encouragement...cat and mouse. If this was supposed to be Christian fiction then they need to scrap all the ogling and descriptions of each other's looks, and try again. You don't date non-believers and sleep with them. Frustrating!

It started off ok, and tried to develop a christian theme throughout the book. However, the end part is dreadful in that the ''christian'' side was totally thrown aside. Very disappointing, and entertains unbiblical principles, such as unequal yoking, without seeking to even justify that part of it.
I was surprised how good this book turned out to be. my imagination ran wild and boy was this a good thing. I love the emotions that ran wildly inside my mind at all life's creation. beautiful in the eye of the beholder.
Poor writing and then I found out (thank you reviews) that later in the book that the two main characters sleep together before they are married. Removing this from my kindle making a note here so I don't pick it up again.
