Tribes of the Gods Endure is a fictional mythological tale about the concealed mysteries of Ireland and the Irish people. The ancient gods of Ireland have been forgotten for a long time and rarely talked about, but they are shared from one generation to the next by older people in local bars. They are the defenders of their people and their homeland. A resilient attitude that they instill in their offspring, who strive to be real leaders by defending the defenceless and making their lives better.
“Tribes of The Gods Endure” has a very interesting setup: Irish tribes are under attack from this woman who used to be exiled but is now a goddess out for revenge. She shows up with a Fomorian army and her three sons, ready to trash the place and take back what she thinks is hers.
Now, I'll be honest - this review might sound a bit weird because I had a hard time following the book. Half the time, I wasn't sure what was going on or where the story was headed.
The plot moves super fast, and I often had to reread parts just to figure out what was happening. I think part of the problem is the paragraph breaks or lack thereof. Plus, there are so many characters with similar names crammed into this tiny 215-page book that it gets pretty confusing.
For a fantasy book, it feels way too rushed. There's a ton of information thrown at you, but not enough time spent on really digging into the story or explaining things clearly.
Despite all that, the book's got something going for it. I mean, I finished it, which says a lot. I just wish it was longer and explained things better. The biggest letdown? The big battle scene that the whole book builds up to is only a few pages long. Talk about a bummer.
Bottom line: If you're into Irish mythology and fantasy, and you want a quick read, you might want to give "Tribes of the Gods Endure" a shot. It's got its problems, but it might be worth checking out.
A beautiful and wonderful dark debut novel by Kay Ni C full of old Irish mythical legends, the Aes Sidhe (fairies), ancient gods of Ireland, the Tuatha De Denann, and the scary wailing banshee that used to terrify me as a kid. For a debut novel, it feels Kay C Ni has been at this game a long time, creating and crafting an ancient magical Ireland for fans of fantasy and mythical tales and history blended beautifully in this wonderfully written tale.
Tribes of the Gods Endure is a standalone novel with fantastic worldbuilding and setting. From the very first page, you are just hooked with its grisly setting, and you know you are in for one hell of read. The story is told from multiple pov's, and the character growth is excellent. You feel so connected with them as the author puts them through their paces as evil desends and threatens their peaceful way of life.
Tribes of the Gods Endure is full of ancient clans united by one king. Based and told in the beautiful counties of Mayo, Galway, and Meath. Kay Ni C transcends you back in time, and being Irish, I absolutely loved reading tales like this back in school. If you love your fantasy action-packed, sword wielding gore ridden battles, magic, giant wolves, ancient legends, evil witches, and their cannibalistic eating hordes, then you will love this.
In this tale, King Tiernan ruler of Ireland daughter has gone missing, sends his men out, to find her. When they don't return, he learns that an old foe and story from legend has returned from the dead Carman, the evil witch has gained godly status and has brought her vile sons and beastly creatures the Fomorians from the sea to bring death and destruction on all the people of Ireland.
With the Tuatha De Denann gone from the land and hidden on the secret ancient Ilse of Ui Breasail. King Teirnan must unite the clans and get word to the Tuatha De Denann for help. Will Carman have her revenge and blood lust on all those who are descendants of the Gods who destroyed her and left her for dead. Read it and find out. You will not be disappointed.
I absolutely enjoyed this book. It has opened my eyes to how much fantasy and mythical lore of Ireland has to offer its readers, and I will be looking forward to reading more similar stories. I can't wait to see what Kay Ni C brings us next. Highly recommend...😁☘️🔥🗡
Tribes of the Gods Endure, by Kay Ni C, starts as it means to go. This is an action packed story that begins with the enemy stealthily invading the lands of Tiernan, the local King. His daughter, Fiadh, along with her father, are main protagonists in this adventurous novel, although the book is told through other POV's, which give a well rounded view from both sides of the battles and trials these people face.
The invaders are led by a Goddess named Carman, who is hell-bent on getting revenge on the people of Erui and the ancestors of the people who banished her and her three evil sons from the Erui, generations before these characters were born.
The adventure brings Fiadh, scared, alone, and hiding from the enemy into the realm and protections of the ancient Gods of Ireland. Conn, her beloved must travel to find her and together they discover that with the help of these Gods, they might be able to defeat the enemy attempting to destroy them.
The Fomorians - they are an enemy that will make you shudder. They are awful, but so well described in looks and action by Kay Ni C. The ancient Gods, are benevolent and wise and do what they can to aide their faithful.
The difficult dilemmas are well played out for Tiernan to0, as he strives to save his people. It is a short book as novels go, about 216 pages, but it is a book that would suit people who love fantasy with mythology and younger readers would also enjoy this fast paced book.
The author's knowledge and love of Irish mythology are on display on every page of this book. I look forward to reading more of her works.
This book is a mythological story with ancient gods of Ireland, fairies magical protectors, hidden passages, deadly creatures from the sea. Definitely check your trigger warnings before going into this book, death and cannibalism.
Tiernan is the ruler of his land and will always protect his people and his daughter Fiadh. The land has been taken over by Carman the witch and her sons Dother, Dian and Dubh. Carman has come back to seek revenge on the land and the people.
Conn is loved by the people and Tiernan’s daughter Fiadh. You find out through the book how they are all linked. This had mystery, secrets, gore. This books pulls you in.

This book was top tier , had all the elements of a book that keep me gripped... Irish mythology and folklore , a love story and an epic end battle scene .... brilliant book and would recommend in a heartbeat
Tribes of the Gods Endure is a captivating mythological tale that brings Ireland’s forgotten gods to life. Rich in history and resilience, it’s a must-read for fans of mythology and folklore!
A journey through the hidden mysteries of Ireland, where ancient gods, long forgotten, still influence the lives of the Irish people. Set against the backdrop of Irish mythology, this tale weaves together stories passed down through generations in local bars, where the old gods are remembered as defenders of their people and homeland.
While the premise is intriguing, who wouldn’t be drawn to a story about ancient deities and Irish mythology? ( If you know me, then you know I’m a sucker for mythology),I found myself struggling to fully engage with the characters and narrative.
The book moves at a fast pace, which, given the book’s short length, is understandable but ultimately left me feeling lost. The characters and the story seemed to blur together, making it difficult to keep track of who was who and what was happening. The narration was also very confusing to me, as one minute, the narration was revolved around one character to then be describing another 2/3 other characters and their movements.
That said, the concept is undeniably interesting. The idea of gods instilling resilience and leadership in their descendants is a compelling one, and the exploration of Irish mythology is always a draw for mythology lovers like myself. However, sadly the execution left me wanting more. I needed more depth, more clarity, and more time to connect with the characters and the rich mythological tapestry. I truly wanted to enjoy this so much more.
In the end, Tribes of the Gods Endure has the potential to be a captivating read for those fascinated by Irish mythology. If this is your jam, then give it a go. It is a short read and fast paced so you will not be bored.
A huge thank you to Pegasus Publishers for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is a dark and beautifully researched novel that draws the reader into the world of Irish Mythology. The author has woven a 'fictional' tale that stands apart from the Irish Mythology upon which it is based, but has captured the tone and malevolence that surrounds the Gods and the fae. As such, I read this book in two sittings because it is the depth of knowledge it imparts, and the characterisation of the main POV within the book that engages. Unfortunately, there are some editing issues ‒ not with the prose itself, but with how the book is set out with POV changes and cuts between scenes. This detracts from the flow of the story being told. However, I personally thoroughly enjoyed the book and the fast-paced style. This is a 3.5/5 rounded up because of the clear love for the mythology it imparts.
I absolutely loved the mythology in this book. The author's love of it really comes through, which only makes the story more appealing. However, as others have said, there are layout and formatting issues with the book that make the story flow hard to follow. I feel the publishers have really let the author down here. Simple line breaks to divide up the scene changes would make this great story so much easier to read.
It is such a shame because the story is one that pulls you in and takes you in directions you didn't see coming. It is rich in Irish mythology, and the author really brings the story and characters to life. You can almost feel yourself in the landscape, knowing that the Tuatha de Danann are hiding just under that nearby hill.
You want to hate some of the characters, love others, and really wish others were still around today.
Exciting and adventurous read that takes you through the dark and mysterious world of Irish mythology! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and was hooked to each page, excited to find out what happened next! If you like fantasy you will love this!
This book is mesmerizing, I love the characters, the myth, the way the author describe everything is captivating. She took me directly into the heart of Irish people. The story is fast paced, so engaging and interesting. Everything is written with a deep knowledge of Irish culture and a heartfelt respect for traditions. The myth and mystery intertwined naturally in this tale that is plenty of revenge, sacrifice, honor and true love.
All the characters are well developed and defined not only by appearance, but by their personalities and actions. While the ancient Gods of Ireland, are benevolent and wise, the Fomorians are dark and evil. Their barbarian actions are awful and I could feel that through her unique narrative. Fiadh and Conn have the kind of love which is real and have old sadly forgotten valued. This story is not centered in physical desire, the spicy here is minimum because the author remark the ideal of the love at those times, that kind of loyalty and belonging imply in just a gaze. That makes this story special.
The author's writing style is stunning, reading this book is like watching an epic movie. Her descriptions makes me picture every detail in my mind and felt it in my bones, as if I were living into the story. Her knowledge of Irish history and mythology is in every line along her love and respect for it.
I highly recommend this book for all readers who enjoy history, mythology, epic stories, true love and living the pages.
