Fascinating book that broadened my horizons
Since getting into manhua and danmei novels, I've become increasingly fascinated by Chinese history and culture. The old myths and customs are especially intriguing. It is unfortunate that asian history does not receive more attention in Western education. Reading this book made me realize how many gaps there were in my knowledge. For example, the Taiping rebellion was a hugely impactful event in China's history, yet I don't ever remember learning about it in school. It was also interesting to learn about events such as the Poppy Wars and Boxer Rebellion from a native's perspective. It makes you realize how slanted things can get when you only hear one side of a story. This was a fascinating book that broadened my horizons.

Too many errors need better review and a lot of editing
Time sequences are confusing, put Warning states and three kingdoms era together. There are many better English short histories of China already. E.g. the shortest history of China, A brief history of China (by Jonathan Clements), those are of much better qualities.
