Caedus and Balthazar are both members of the Dark Guard, a group of demons tasked with protecting their kind from the sorcerers that would bind them and use their powers in the human realm. But membership in the Dark Guard isn’t the only thing Caedus and Balthazar share: they also share the love of the same female.
Iliana is everything a male could want, but everything changes when she takes her own life. Devastated, Caedus turns cold, denying anything resembling the softer side of emotion, while Balthazar struggles to hold the two of them together.
Vivian Nox is the half-demon daughter of the fallen angel Lucifer, and she has an affinity for souls. As the owner of a pleasure house, Nox uses her power to give her clients what they want most, but when Caedus and Balthazar stride through her door, she recognizes them as her soul’s desire.
Still haunted by Iliana’s death, Caedus isn’t ready to repeat history, but when one of Nox’s pleasure slaves goes missing, he finds himself unable to turn away her request for help.
Their search reveals a killer loose in Hell, but that isn’t what worries Caedus. As he and Balthazar spend more time with Nox, Caedus begins to suspect that she won’t be happy with anything less than his soul.

I received this book from the author in return for a fair and honest review.
I haven't read many books that are set in Hell but this one has tweaked my interest enough that I will be looking out for more.
I loved the take of this book, it is demons that are summoned unwillingly to the human world and it is part of the Dark Guards' jobs to get them back without harm. Balthazar and Caedus are introduced almost immediately and they certainly make a striking impression. Iliana makes one too but it isn't that good.
There is a story (in case you were wondering) and it's very good. There is a killer loose and one of Nox's pleasure slaves becomes a victim. So the hunt starts as they try to find out who has done this. There is sex in the story but it isn't gratuitous, it is all part of the story and explains about how deep the bond is between them. There is no mystery about who the killer is but it is how will they capture him that makes it interesting. To be fair, the killer part of the story was actually secondary for me as I wanted to know about Nox, Balthazar, Caedus and hopefully Amon.
There is M/M, M/F/M, M/F action in this book so if any of that offends you then this is not the book for you. There is also a hermaphrodite in the story so be prepared for some very interesting and descriptive scenes.
There are a couple of scenes towards the end of the book where it has been repeated which needs sorting but I do know that the author is aware of that.
Adult open mind is required for this trip into Hell. Erotica and demons combined make this a good story. Jennifer Kohout, is an outstanding writer, making this trip one you do not want to miss.
Queen of Souls By: Jennifer Kohout For the first about 7 hours of the book it was pretty much mindless sex with tidbits of a story line. The last 5 hours of the book really got into the story and had tidbits of mindless sex. I did enjoy the book though. I really enjoyed the actual story line of the book.
The story line is a murder mystery, that's not really a mystery because you know who committed it, the other characters although do not know who or even how the murder was committed.
The story takes place at a Pleasure House in the depths of Hell. One of the Pleasure Slaves is missing without a trace. Nox is the mistress of the house and also the daughter of Lucifer himself. She is a soul eater. She can take a small part of your soul with just a touch, or she can take your whole soul if she is inclined.
Caedus and Balthazar are 2 members or the Dark Guard. They protect demons from sorcerers that can bind them and use their powers in the Human Realm.
When Nox first lays eyes on Caedus and Balthazar she knows their are her Soul Mates. Caedus and Balthazar once lost their female Iliana to suicide and have struggled with letting her go. Caedus and Balthazar are also longtime lovers. After the death of Iliana Caedus has turned cold and Balthazar has struggled to keep them together.
When they meet Nox Balthazar is ready to start fresh, Caedus not so much. When the Pleasure Slave comes up missing and Nox asks for their help, as the 3 investigate Caedus changes his mind about not wanting a life with Nox.
There is pretty much every kind of sex you can dream up in this book.
Sierra Kline is the narrator and has an amazing voice. She kept me in enthralled in the story. Her voice was so easy to listen too, She done an amazing job with all the voices as well as all the emotion in the book. I will be looking for more books narrated by her, as well as books written by Jennifer Kohout.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Firstly just because I know I appreciate them for possible reads (TW: suicide/r*pe/a bit graphic)
OK so honestly if weren't for the serial killer perpetrator perspectives this would be on my favourites shelf, it's so unique with its relationship dynamics, the love, the whole underworld, different demon breeds and the hot and very VERY creative sex. Those two male demons are pure masculinity and hot as sin and the fact they're also in love with each other just adds to the excitement.
But yeah the scenes with Mr creepy were upsetting to me and I did need to take a break after them, but that could be a personal thing because I'm sensitive to those things.
~I received this book as a free promotional item in exchange for an honest review~
A+ for highly charged erotic content but not quite so good in execution of the two storylines. “Queen of Souls” follows Vivian Nox, the half-demon daughter of Lucifer and the demons, Caedus and Balthazar. After the suicide of their lover, Iliana, Caedus withdraws into himself as the pain and guilt he feels at failing to protect her eats away at his soul. In a bid to discover a way to reach his partner and lover, Balthazar comes to Vivian in the hopes that she will be able to grant him his soul’s desire as she has for others. Nox can read souls and has used her power to build the most exclusive pleasure house in Hell. When Balthazar brings Caedus with him to his meeting, Nox recognizes that they are her soul’s desire, but that the damage Iliana’s death did to Caedus may be too great for her to have them both.
Interspersed with the story of Caedus and his journey through grief is a murder “mystery”. One of Nox’s pleasure servants was killed and she turns to Caedus and Balthazar for help. The story jumps between following the serial killer as he evolves and the relationship between Nox, Caedus and Balthazar. The writing and the story are very good and all the characters, even those who only pop in for a few scenes are so well done, the reader gets a real sense of who they are. May only real problem with the story was that it almost felt like it should be two separate books. The storyline with the serial killer and Caedus’s journey were interesting but tonally so different that cutting back and forth between them was a bit jarring and dissatisfying, especially since the cuts were accomplished mainly via sex scenes. Had the editing been a little tighter, the flow of the two stories may not have felt so off, but after a while even with the enjoyable variety of sex and partner pairings, I just wanted them to get to the point. However, the narrator was amazing and the characters and writing were good so even when I was frustrated by the pacing/editing, I still found the book entertaining.
The setting of the story being in hell was another reason I wanted to read the book, and I was interested to see what the author would do with it. Frankly, Hell is pretty much Earth. Beyond being populated by demons and fallen angels and having a more free take on sex, there wasn’t much difference beyond a few unfamiliar words and the obvious details that come when your characters have wings, tails and horns. Seafood dinners are still excellent and women avoid chocolate because it “makes you fat”. However, there was enough detail and interesting world building traits that you just shrug it off and take the book for what it is—an enjoyable erotic story with horns and wings to increase the kink factor and call it a day.
I voluntarily reviewed an audiobook copy of this book.
Genre: Paranormal Author: Jennifer Kohout Book: Queen of Souls My Star Rating: 3.5 out of 5 Will I read I read it again? yes Intro: There’s a killer loose in Hell.

WARNING: The book contains explicit descriptions of sex and is intended for mature audiences only. Wow… does this book have some hot scenes in it. The warning of explicit does not lie. I did like the characters well all except the killer of course. I liked the story line and loved how Caedus has found love again and has healed from his past. I liked how they found the killer and really how well it was written where it brought you into the story line. I was given this book to read and give an honest review. This review is my honest opinion and I have fully read this book.
What an amazing Hell! I really enjoy this book and was nothing like I've read before. This story takes place in Hell and I admire the author, how she is capable to make a new world out of nowhere. Things made sense there and once they are explained it gets easier as the plot goes on. I'm really happy about how the author made a believable place for demons of all kinds to live, how they have rules and a life there. They feel pain, loss and love and this is a great perspective in a book. Their differences made them unique and that is great, also how they don't hide from their desires and most of all how the author is capable to write sex scenes using all those uniques differences. She's descriptive in a way that made it believable and the imagination runs wild from there. That's what I love about this book. How I was able to imagine that realm, with all the characteristics and colors, that and the sex was hot. Talking about the plot, I love how two things were happening here, a love story and a crime. I enjoy how the story developed and the two of them got together. All the characters have an important role and it is great how they keep true to themselves. They kept their personality and grew up as characters and that is something I really enjoy. Nox, Caedus, Balthazar and Amon develop a relationship and it isn't easy considering the baggage all of them have. This story is about forgiveness, patience, understanding and how sometimes doing the good thing means trying all means possible, even those forbidden. They have been through a lot and this book let us know how they discover themselves again. They really focus in their souls' desire and once that's understood, the title makes a lot of sense. So, why 4 stars? The POV was a little confusing to me. One charcater was talking and suddenly it changed to another character and it got me confused. There are so many of them that I had to re read some parts to know who was actually talking. I enjoy the book, the writing style and I'm looking forward to read more about the author.
Most of the time I complain about the shortness of books, that it wasn't long enough to actually fill out the story. Well this one is 351 pgs, though at it took me a minute to get into it, by the end of the book I didn't have a problem giving it a solid 4 stars. Amazingly in-depth and full of character. You have a Tri-couple..two males and female, which in the general since of things is a hard relationship and its not one that should be regarded lightly. Caedus and Balthazar dark guards, one a gargoyle one a bull demon... one is a bit more laid back than the other and both sexy and all kinds of yummy. They are partners and loves.. they rescue summoned demons and bring them back to hell. Hey a dirty job.. someone has to do it. Nox.. is a owner of her own pleasure house, and the daughter of Lucifer. Who can brag and say their father is the first fallen angel? Her magic? Is to tell ones heart desire... (as she feeds from their soul) With a tragic and heart breaking situation occurs it pushes the two dark guards away from each other.. though not physically but emotionally. Balthazar has a idea that may help, or may lose Caedus to him forever... all he knows is he cant keep going the way they are. Hence the reason going to the pleasure house, to see Nox... and her special gift. There is a killer on the loose, and nothing is as it seems, Nox has even seen her own hearts desire. Balthazar knows this as well as Nox's … but Nox tells him she wont share with a ghost... The sexy.. well dayum hot and intense... the three of them together hot enough to burn the pages, them just the two of them still as hot and scorching. I simply loved Amon, Id have liked to see more of her.. maybe later?? smiles at the Author... All of the characters were well wrote and interacted with each other awesomely. A very good read, I was surprised... and look forward to more from Ms. Kohout. Enjoy I did.
Vivian Nox knows that Caedus and Balthazar are her soul's desire, but they aren't ready for another relationship besides there's a killer loose in Hell in this riveting paranormal romance.
The strong compelling characters strongly invite the readers to follow their story as they struggle to follow their paths to happiness. Caedus, Balthazar, Nox and Amon all have emotional issues that causes them to keep parts of themselves hidden but their attraction to each other demands attention and soon their desires are burning hot with some scorching hot sex scenes that burn with a fiery intensity including m/f, m/f/m, m/m, f/f, m/f/f/m scenes and some BDSM. The steady to fast paced plot keeps readers on their toes with lots of suspense, excitement and passion as it guides the reader throughout several layers of intrigue with lots of characters.
There is one person, however that has decided to take his happiness no matter the cost which adds danger and excitement to the story as the well written scenes and details capture the imagination and bring the story to life and the well orchestrated events along with the unexpected twists that keep the reader's guessing ensure that the reader's can't put the book down until they have read every last detail and there is never a dull moment with this complex plot full of interwoven characters and mini plots.
The author has created a sexy and decadent world full of captivating characters that grab the reader's attention, interesting and different elements, its own set of rules and lots of smoldering passion. I was completely enraptured with the story from the very beginning and would very much enjoy reading more books in this fascinating world.
First and foremost let me begin by stating that I received a free copy of the book from the author in exchange for my honest review. Thank you
Queen of Souls is a startling and erotic love story, if one is willing to keep an open mind about sexuality, good and evil. Jennifer Kohout creates a world so strange yet similar to our own, where demons and fallen angels dwelled; a Hell that we are not accustomed to. In hell we are introduce to Caedus and Balthazar who have experience an immense tragedy which threatens to destroyed the life they have built together; and Nox who is willing to do anything to repaired the relationship between the two lovers. If you knew your soul’s desire would you be willingly to follow it, even it if it meant giving yourself up to two complete strangers and allow them to debase you in the most intimate and fun ways.
If you are looking for something different, hot and steamy, you will enjoy this novella. Its design to make you want, desire and drive you crazy with hunger.
*****************Warning: spoiler Alert ***************************** I just hope this is the first of many, where we can discover the story of the other supporting characters. I want to know what happens to Haden, Amon, Evie, and Remy. Did Evie get the baby she so desire? Will Amon, Caedus, Balthazar and Nox become mates and have little bull demons, or little gargoyles running around. How will Lucifer and Magdalena approved of the mates she has chosen? I was a bit disappointed that the murder of Colulus, and Taros was not solve or talked about. Where they ever attached to Errol, was his soul in Sheol?
Awesome! This book was an amazing ride of emotions and events that drew me along without stuttering or slowing down, instead it gained momentum as it progressed. Queen of Souls had a mixture of wonderful, deep characters from Nox - bold and beautiful, to Caedus - brooding, guilt ridden, and searching for the meaning to his life, to Balthazar confident and with a beautiful soul. There was also Amon, who was both sure and insecure in herself, as well as Oberon, a minotaur with a penchant for cooking. Haden is also worth noting, a souless who found himself in hell, literally finding what his soul desired all along. This book was a tale of love finding a way and a murderer's over-confidence and I loved absolutely every minute of it. I sincerely hope that the author writes more about her version of hell because it was stunning, beautiful, and worth every minute I took to read it.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. While I loved it and couldn't put it down, it felt like the main point of the story was rushed at the end. I loved Caedus and how his character through out the whole book was battling with himself over their first lover's death. In any relationships like the one in the book, there is always one lay back guy and then the all dark and moody. Balthazar was the sweet and caring one, who everyone falls for easily, even myself.
The only other problem I had with the book was how the killer had killed two people but they only questioned one death, they didn't even notice the other person missing. Don't get me wrong, I loved the book but I'm one of those people who likes every little detail either answered or explained in a book.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This is a good book focused evenly on both a murder mystery and a journey of personal discovery for nearly all the characters. The writing was excellent, as usual. The characters were certainly alive and passionate. The plot never slowed for a minute. The setting was described well. Would I read more by Jennifer Kohout? I’d read anything she wrote. Would I recommend this book to others? Yes if they’re into this sort of thing.
*Recieved an ebook from the author in echange for an honest review*
I am a lover of good covers. That was my first impression when I first laid eyes on this book. Although I expected a love triangle I fell completely out of my guess. The story is realistci with characters which love, hate, suffer and have healthy appetites, not to mention the steamy scenes. Overall the story of Demons and Hell was quite unique, since I've never encoutered something similar and I would like to see more stories like these from the author.
I felt the pain, happiness, excitement, and love for one another throughout the story. The story world and the characters are so well developed that Ms. Kohout could easily turn this book into a series. Caedus and Balthazar live in a brownstone in a nice neighborhood in Hell - too funny I love it! And Queen of Souls would be a good story even without the sex scenes.
