A little was left unanswered for me like why Eva and the commander betrayed the team. I would have liked for their motives to be revealed.

Lienna & Anis
Dieses Buch beinhaltet eine Geschichte über Wandler.
Ich fand diese Storyline leider halbgar, der Schreibstil ist mühsam und das Buch oft anstrengend zu lesen. Wer hier allerdings eine typische Wandler Geschichte sucht ist bei diesem Buch fehl am Platz. Man kann hier keine tieferen Einblicke erwarten und die Handlungen sind oberflächlich, verwirrend, haben keinen Halt- jedoch bietet es ein paar Emotionen. Die Charaktere sind jedoch genauso halbgar wie die Storyline und daher enttäuschend, bieten allerdings eine wechselnde Erzählperspektive beider Protagonisten.
Um ehrlich zu sein war die Geschichte mehr verwirrend als aufklärend. Das beginnt schon mit Seite eins als wir auf Anis treffen der einer Spezialeinheit von Wandlern angehört. Sein ganzes Team schien chaotisch zu sein wie die Handlungen selbst.
Wir kommen bei ihm schon immer wieder kleine Rückblicke in Form von Erinnerungen und das zeigt uns das er eine Vergangenheit mit Lienna hat und was dort passiert ist. Auch bei Lienna werden immer wieder Rückblicke gezeigt in Form von Erinnerungen die uns im Grunde das selbe sagen.
Das Lienna nicht gut auf Anis zu sprechen ist kann man im Klappentext schon erahnen aber.... da hätte ich mir mehr Wut und Enttäuschung von ihr gewünscht.
Alleine das Wiedersehen der beiden und die geheime Mission von Anis und seinem Team geben schon genug Spannung und Drama, doch dann noch die ganze Rudel Sache, Korruption der Behörde und seinem eigenen Team.... Das hat das Buch unnötig vollgepackt.
Auch das Fehlen von Emotionen die ich nirgends spüren konnte war schade.

A phenomenal beginning!
This book is fantastic and I loved it! The first in a new series by Layla and it’s an absolute must read! It grabbed a hold of me on page 1 and never let go. Filled with love, loss, danger and betrayal, the story of Aris and Linnea is a great way to start. They knew each other in high school but Aris was a bit of a bully to Linnea. Prom night will reveal the truth of their relationship but Aris will deny it and leave town. Now, years later, he’s back as the new alpha, who killed Aris’s father, is causing a lot of trouble and is treating his pack poorly. In an effort to try to resolve the issues peacefully, Aris finds himself blood-bonded to Linnea. Their relationship is adversarial at first but as time goes by and they give in to the bond and chemistry between them, that changes. But a vision she has will reveal a betrayal that will shake Aris to his core. Attacks will come, friends will be lost and vengeance will be had. The traitor will be revealed and Aris will learn that while Linnea may not be able to shift, she’s one strong woman! It gives them the chance to start over, and have the life they always should have, in their hometown of Rosecreek.
I read an ARC copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.

Betrayed bullied mate…
It’s not terribly clear what the rules are for this world, as some of the standard werewolf rules don’t seem to apply. Aris is the MMC and Linnea is the FMC. Years ago during high school Linnea realized Aris was her mate. He totally denied it and walked away. So it’s not clear what happened with the mate bond, and if he ever “cheated” because I don’t recall any mention of her feeling pain due to infidelity. Anyway somehow the bad guy figured out their situation and made them blood bond.
The bad guy killed Aris’ parents and took over his pack. Now there are any number of illegal activities going on and Aris and his team have been sent to take care of the situation.
I liked it, and it was fairly well written. I think this is the first book of this author that I’ve read, but she has numerous series that she’s written. I’m going to give some a try…

Aris left his home to join the Special Ops straight out of school. Not returning even when his father, the Alpha, and mother die. Now, however, his mission is to check out the Alpha who killed his father.
When Linnea and Aris meet again, the action comes thick and fast: there are betrayals, rogues to fight and past mistakes coming back to bite them in the but!
I loved this first book, I was drawn in from the beginning and was sad when it ended, can’t wait for the next one.

The title promised a lot of tropes, and the book technically checked all the boxes, but not particularly well.
The bullying is in the past, and it was vicious high school bullying. There is no groveling. Aris just shrugs says he bullied her because he liked her, then they have sex and all is forgiven.
She gets pregnant 5 seconds later.
There’s a traitor and it’s painfully obvious who it is.
There are various poorly developed plot elements that end in an action sequence.
The team kills an entire army of rogue shifters. They just keep running in and dying, like Yakuza in an old kung fu movie.
The bullying is in the past, and it was vicious high school bullying. There is no groveling. Aris just shrugs says he bullied her because he liked her, then they have sex and all is forgiven.

Betrayed Bullied Mate
Layla Silver did a good job with this first book in this series. It had a lot of suspense and betrayal. It jerks you in the edge of your seat wondering what is going to happen next.
In the end of this book you do get a HEA. It was had imagining one of your betrayers was you commander and the other one of your own team members. With getting and reaching.

I'm pleasantly surprised
When I started this book I thought it would e a run of the mill shifter agent / damsel in distress story. I quickly realized it is not run of the mill anything. The characters have a stubborn streak as strong as steal. The supporting characters are strong, loyal & fun. Well, all except for that one.

easy enjoyable quick read
Read this as a time filler before a book I was waiting for had come out and wasn’t sure what to expect

Good read!!!!
Enjoyed the book. High school bully turns mate is a good storyline. This story had me laughing and crying. Linnea and Aris’s relationship was rocky at first with both of them hiding their feelings since high school but the mate bond exposes their true feelings for each other. Good read.

2.5 ⭐ It was ok, an easy read. If you're in a bit of a slump like me it's one you can not think too in depth about. It's not the best and there's a lot to be desired in character development, the fmc changes her mind almost instantly.

Just the sweetest thing
Ok, so the ending made me ugly cry a little. I ain't give it away, but it was a beautiful ending to such a fantastic story. The book had the right amount of plot and spice to keep me engaged.

The majority of the story is the special op the team is on. The romance/relationship issue seems resolved almost instantly (because of the bond and the forced proximity).
