Follow my short story adventures in this humorous and at times sad memoir. Be with me the night I caught alligators by hand in the Florida swamps. Enjoy my cuisines of rattlesnake, Rocky Mountain Oysters and even a light bulb.
Ride along with me and Dean and Wes from the Kirkwell Cattle Company on the Wildman Ride. We rode horseback from Colorado into Oklahoma and ended in New Mexico. Discover if a rope around a bed roll keeps snakes away at night.
Stop by my house for a Bloody Mary and discover what’s for breakfast. You’ll be there when I went hang gliding, had a “fluffy” lady land on top me when our hot air balloon crashed. Jump out of the boat the day I pulled in a shark.
Get drenched on the Gauley River during a whitewater trip. Take photos during a night snorkeling trip in Jamaica. Ride in my car along with Betsy – the blowup doll. Feel my excitement the day I carried the Olympic Torch on its way to the 1996 Atlanta Games.

The Shade Tree Choir deals with the specific physical and emotional abuse he suffered as a child. PALS: Part One takes the reader through the teenage years and how five friends helped him to cope. PALS: Part Two shows how he experienced success after abuse.
Additionally, David wrote a book of poetry devoted primarily to the subject of love. It is titled, My Treasure.
Nelson was a retired physical therapist, office ergonomist and national public speaker. He wore another "hat," as well. He was a Cowboy Poet and storyteller. He was the Cowboy Poet Laureate of Tennessee and performed across America. His book, The Campfire Collection of Cowpoke Poetry is filled with his poems and stories, and Art from the Heart combines his poems and stories along with his artwork.

I found the stories in this book quite interesting - David Nelson has had a remarkable life. Although this book was a sequel to PALS Part One, which I also enjoyed, the writing style was completely different. Pals Part One contained numerous, yet poignant tales of David Nelson's life from grade school through high school. The stories of he and his pals growing up in a not-so-nice part of Dubuque, Iowa, were so rich with detail and emotion. Some stories make you laugh, yet others make you cry. Pals Part Two tells tales of David's life from college and on. A very interesting and entertaining read. Although he faced many hardships, he persevered!

Heartwarming,sad,humorous,enlightening,a flood of emotions through out.
I found the more I read the more I wanted to know about not only the author but also the town of Dubuque. I also grew up there but from the south side of town. I laughed, I cried, tears came happy and sad ones. I learned a lot about Tennessee, the state I haved lived in for the past 5 years. I think everyone can relate to at least one or more subjects David covers in this story.
