Christian Henderson knows what it’s like to be heartbroken, but he also knows what it’s like to be single and mingling without a care in the world. However, his time has run out on the single life, and he’s ready to settle down. Although he’s the middle son of his parents, he’s the only one that hasn’t found the woman his soul craves. He’s established in his career as part owner of an A/C repair business, and thanks to being a Henderson, his bag is set. There is nothing left to do but start a family. After the relationship he thought was the one fails, he’s even more determined to find the right one. When he meets Mya, time stands still. Immediately, his heart is off to the races.
Mya Ceasar is really fed up with relationships. Giving a man her all, time and time again, has proven to be a bust, and she feels she’s struck out on love. Even with as young as she is, she believes it’s just not in the cards for her, and she focuses on living her best life, indulging in temporary fulfillment. Deep down, she craves love and affection, but she doesn’t trust anyone to provide it unconditionally. As an independent romance author, she chooses to live every day like it's her last and hopes that love will eventually find her. A chance encounter with Christian proves to be the saving grace her heart desperately needs.
Christian is a man who knows what he wants, and he sees it when he meets Mya. Convincing Mya of that is more difficult than he thought it would be. Her past trauma is speaking loudly, and she isn’t easily persuaded when it comes to matters of the heart. Will Christian have the patience to endure the wait, or will he move on like Mya never existed?
Starting with poetry, writing has always been a constant in Monica's life. The interest began in her teenage years, being in love for the first time. Her love for writing has only progressed. Song lyrics and poetry led to short stories, then one day in her down time, a short story became a 56k word novel. It has been non-stop since then. Being a wife and mother, has only added to the joys of Monica's life. Attaining a BS in Sociology, helping her better understand people and their behaviors, has only helped her become a better writer, understanding characters and their complex personalities. Romance of all types has been her passion, and she plans to continue honing her skills in that genre.
How are we at book 21? I feel like we have had the Henderson's in our lives forever, and now getting to experience the children growing up, and starting families feels like a dream. 🤩
Mr. Christian! Good heart, sweet, loving, but has little to no patience, and a temper like his Uncle Storm. Lawd help us all! I understand that Christian wants love more than anything, but when he was checking out patients in the hospital, I was giving him the 👀just like Storm. 😂
Mya found herself in yet another situation with a nothing ass man, and she was over it! After she gets out of the hospital, she will return to her mantra, men ain't ish, and live her life. She outside and wants to continue her heaux phase until she can't. Then here comes fine ass Christian.
This man wanted to strong arm Mya into a relationship, as he felt such a connection to her. She wasn't having it. Friends with benefits is all I got bruh. 🤷🏾♀️ See this was his out, but he had to try and change her mind. Whew this is going to be a wild ride. The push and pull was inevitable, as Mya was trying to work through her trauma, with her youth and inexperience playing a huge part as well. Christian was just a bull in a China shop, barreling toward what he wanted, Mya.
Although hesitant, Mya gave Christian a chance, as she was afraid of losing him. She really did care for him, but not enough time had passed in her opinion to learn if he was really who he says he is. My heart broke for Christian as we learn he still has so much unresolved trauma when it comes to Avery. He is so angry that it happened at all and was having a hard time letting go. Then hiding his vulnerability from everyone, especially Mya, was sure to make him lose it all.
Loved the cameos of the Henderson family, as we see the youngin's growing up and thriving. Karima for the win! 💓 She and her wise, sound advice put Christian on the path to healing and righting his wrongs. KJ? What are you doing? I cannot wait for his story; I can tell it will be messy and explosive. Great job Miss Monica! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
I can honestly say that reading Monica’s Henderson Sage books makes me feel like I’m part of the family! Love reading her books and recognizing the characters from her other books. As always she didn’t disappoint in Christian story. Reading the other books in this series was like watching Christian grow up right before my eyes! Love my Henderson family
“I Want It” by Monica Walters is an engaging black romance novel that masterfully blends family drama, buried secrets, and humor. The story follows Mya, a vivacious and independent woman, and Christian, a hard working entrepreneur. Their journey towards love is filled with unexpected twists and heartwarming moments, making it a captivating read from start to finish.
The characters in “I Want It” are exceptionally well-developed. Mya’s spirited nature and Christian’s charm create a dynamic and believable relationship. Walters’ portrayal of familial bonds and the impact of past secrets is both poignant and realistic.
Humor is woven seamlessly throughout the story, providing lighthearted moments that balance the more serious themes. Monica Walters’ writing is both witty and heartfelt, making the characters’ like Uncle Mayor Storm, interactions feel authentic and relatable.
Overall, “I Want It” is a delightful romance novel that offers a perfect mix of love, drama, and laughter. With its positive, well-developed characters and engaging plot, it is sure to leave readers with a smile and a warm feeling long after the final page.
I enjoyed this story. Christian and Mya were perfect together. They faced some challenges with their past, but that didn't stop Christian from pursuing Mya. I loved how Christian was straightforward, knew what he wanted, and didn't play games. I understood Mya's hesitancy in starting a new relationship, but I was happy she was willing to give Christian a chance. Plus, he's a Henderson man, and we know how those Henderson men are about the women they want. Overall, this was a great story, and I loved how the Henderson family rallied around these two and their union.
It’s been a while since I read a Henderson book and I enjoyed Christian and Mya’s story more than I thought I would. While it lacks some of the depth of some earlier Henderson masterpieces, it’s still a breezy read despite the complex topics of dealing with the aftermath of finding out a relative is a s3x off3nd3r, racism related to gun violence, relationship trauma and more. I would say you need to have read the other books for this to be enjoyable, but at the same time the Henderson world is so big at this point, you are constantly referring to the family tree page to remind yourself of who is who and to recall their back stories from the previous books. Looking forward to getting back into this series.
Christian wanted to have his own family - a wife and kids. He was over random hookups at his big ol age. He wanted a relationship with his person, but it wasn’t working out like that. He thought he had it, but distance snatched it from him.
Mya had been burned bad by every man she dated. She had no good reason to want to be in a relationship. So she was in her f* ni**as mood. She was in the hospital after experiencing a tragedy when she met Christian and a new but shaky friendship ensued.
Christian had ulterior motives for befriending Mya. He wanted her and was going to make her want him and to be with him. He was going to wait her out but he had no patience. Christian was on the fast track. His biggest mistake was trying to get Mya on the fast track too.
She was living her best life in these streets or so she told herself, and she didn’t hide that from him. She told him she was in the streets. However, she definitely didn’t want to let him get away. She recognized he was a good man, but struggled with letting go of her previous hurts from men in order to accept him and what he was offering to her.
Christian and Mya had a lot going on. Their pasts played a significant role in who they became. Getting around their traumas and to a place of healing and acceptance made for an interesting story. Navigating all of that and pushing towards what you need and know is right for you, is rough. Not to mention the family - even though they’re very supportive and tight knit - are still loud, wild and crazy as hell and always has something going on. We got a glimpse of the beginnings of several stories that will hopefully come out and continue the hood Hendersons journeys. As always with this series, this book was an excellent read too!
This was another great addition to the Henderson family saga.
Christian was a man who knew what he wanted and applied pressure to get it. Mya was very hesitant to let him all the way in based her past and I’m sure her age played into her maturity level as well, but once she did let him in, she was ready to receive all his love and affection and even made the very adult decision to take a break when they both needed it. I loved that they both worked on themselves during their time apart so when they got back together, their connection was even stronger.
This book also gave us more looks into the younger Henderson kids and seeing them growing up. I love how this family rides for each other no matter what and will offer advice even when it’s not wanted, but is usually very necessary advice for that person. Of course you don’t have a Henderson book without Storm showing his butt and this story was no different. I love how the Henderson parents allow their children and nieces and nephews to be themselves and speak their minds and recognizing them as adults without trying to censure their words. Jasper, Tiffany and Storm may be uncle and aunt by relation, but their connection with their nieces and nephews is similar to an older sibling with their comfort level and I love that.
All I can say is, read this book and you won’t be disappointed. I can’t wait for more.
I feel like this book hit a lil different. It was definitely reminecent of the earlier emotion and trauma driven storylines about the Henderson's.
Jasper got to flex a bit in this book we only hear about Storm.
I was screaming, cheering, and even she'd some tears on this one. It had been a minute!
Christian was tired of them streets. He wanted what he wanted, knew his worth, and stood on business. Gotta love a man that knows what he wants.
Mya had to be a bad one cause sis pulled her man in a hospital gown, bonnet and barely ambulatory. Got her car towed and rent paid! She was a strong one. Sis said twice, bitten.... and was over men. She was not trying to be blinded by sweet words or shiny things.
Goodness, those are a lot of cousins to keep up with! Can't wait to read what is next with The Henderson Next Gen!
Genre: Country Hood Romance Troupe: insta love Spice Level:🌶🌶 Possible Triggers: loss of baby, drug abuse, pedophilia references Tissues:🤧🤧
I said what I said and as always: don't take my word for it. Read the book, form your own opinions, and support your authors!
This was a two star read for me because the MMC was a lil overbearing and unhinged. Like I get knowing what you want and going for it but if someone clearly communicates they don’t want what you want why you forcing it? Additionally he was an older man a lil more seasoned so it’s like your time line and her time line won’t be the same because HELLO she’s 20 something to your 30+ self. It was a lil too much back and forth wishy washy stuff going on for me to fully enjoy it. I’m glad there was realistic bits on how family crime and trauma affect people. I will say this family is a bit too large for me lol especially because it’s so many personalities and what not. So while sometimes there’s some comedic relief other times it’s like DANG these folks is adults like let them figure it out without 36 cameos comments and opinions it’s becomes distracting. I didn’t really understand Janson popping back up and being rowdy either. Overall this was just not my favorite experience from this author. I’ll always appreciate a Shyvonne cameo tho
Christian was sure Mya was the one when he met her walking in hospital hallway just recovering from surgery. Even though she was not looking her best and had just lost a baby from a failed relationship he was not judgmental and still wanted her. Mya was so jaded from her failed relationships she was afraid to get into a serious relationship. After one 🔥🔥🔥🔥encounter with Christian she was pregnant again! Those Henderson soldiers miss! Christian did not give up and Mya had no choice but to fall in love with him. I like how Ms. Walter address issues that affect all families and normalizing therapy for both men and women to deal with issues that leads to dysfunction in our lives and relationships. I’m loving these country hood love stories 🖤🤎 and look forward to reading more. I recommend these stories . Get them you won’t regret! Thank you for the good read Ms. Walter!!
This book was filled with so many emotions and family in need of healing!!!… Christian was strong where he needed to be, but that your man inside of him needed some healing from everything his family endured behind his father’s actions!!!… Along comes Mya and shake things up, only to realize that she is lovable as is and her faults and the ppl that made her feel less than does not matter when a man that wanna love all those parts of you come along!!!… I hope there is a story for SS coming because his response to them trying to rob him had me raising my eyebrows!!!… This family is growing and I’m loving the way these children are stepping into their own and in the family business!!!… I love the way they embraced Avery/AJ, because I was scared he was going to be ignored because of the and of his father too!!!…
I love to see a man chase a woman with true intentions! Christian knew what he wanted instantly, and although Mya wasn’t in that frame of mind, he didn’t let up. We should all be aware by now that Monica Walters is one of the greatest in these literary streets, and this book further demonstrates that. I truly love how she makes me fall in love with characters, both old and new, every time I read her books. I said from the beginning that Mya was about to take my new husband through it, and that’s exactly what she did. However, he didn’t take it lying down or lightly, which I loved about him. His moves were always intentional, even when they hurt others or himself. Mya was for the streets and owned it, which made me respect her so much. She let it be known what she would and wouldn’t do and stood strong… until she lost that battle 😆 Monica Walters creates her books in a way that clears up past issues while also giving us new ones. The Henderson family has been through a lot, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down. There is always suspense and curveballs with this group of characters… besides Storm, his behind is still and will always be a fool🙄 KJ’s book is next, and with what he has going on, I’m here for all the foolery!
This family has had me locked in since day one! I feel like a neighbor or someone who grew up with these folks. Christian's book did not disappoint--not that I thought it would. My main takeaway is that I'm sure so many people and relationships would thrive, if people were honest up front and consistent like the characters in this book. Christian nor Mya hid from who they were and what type of time they were on. They were able to set boundaries and with a little help from family, were able to do the work that needed to be done in order to secure their HEA! I'm so looking forward to KJ and Karima's books.
Another Henderson banger!!💣🔥 full of family, love ❤️ and great seggs💦🍆. These two took you on an emotional ride but it was not too long and drawn out. Christian knew what he wanted and Mya was reluctant but ready. Hate that Courtney turned out to be a junkie 😭.
It’s always Chrissy for the win, she is such a stand up woman. I am so glad Christian dealt with his trauma as the child of a molester and was able to build a relationship with his younger brother. As always, Unc Mayor has a way of stealing the show. I absolutely love these families and how they support and love one another 😍 Can’t wait to see what’s next👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
The way that Mya and Christian connected was not ideal but he was determined from the first encounter that she was who he wanted and he would do whatever to convince her. Mya was in the hospital after having a miscarriage. The father of her child was nonexistent not claiming the child as his. She was convinced that there was no good men out there so why would Christian be any different. Even after being put in the friend zone he was determined not to give up. When Mya got pregnant again with Christians child he did what it took to prove he could be trusted and would be by her side no matter what.
Monica never disappoints. The Henderson Family have always been my favorite and this book did NOT disappoint again.
Christian and Mya both had a lot of trauma to work through. They push and pull tugged at my heart, but their love for each other was always present.
Highly recommend everyone dive into their love story because there are so many relatable moments. When Mya opened up about her feelings after her mother passed, I felt ALL of that.
I love Christian! He was patient yet consistent even with dealing with his trauma. He took the time to get himself together even when he didn’t know what would come of it! Mya!!! I hate she had to deal with so much trauma but taking the time to do the self work is a blessing & im glad she did what she had to do to get the love she deserved. Can’t forget Uncle Mayor! I’ll always love him & ima stand beside him!!! I can’t wait to dive into Karima, SS, and the others!!!!
This book!! This Henderson family novel by author Monica Walters took me through so many emotions. I laughed, cried and even blushed (because Christian and Mya are nastyy lol). Both main characters were a bit stubborn, Christian was ready to settle down while Mya wasn't quite interested in a committed relationship. The Henderson men definitely recognize their queens when they see them! Uncle Mayor was going through so much in this book, my heart went out to him. Especially with his son's situation. I know the upcoming stories will be good, I can't wait.
What I love the most about Monica Walter’s books is that there always a love lesson to be learned . I Need It teaches us to release the past from the sins others have committed. Mya couldn’t let go of the sins past lovers, and for Christian he hadn’t let go of the horrible sins committed by his father . I truly enjoyed this trip back to Nome and the Hendersons! I tell you the love and the jaw dropping moments in the book are on par with what Monica brings to us each and every time!
I mean I loved Christian and Maya's love story and all and glad they made through all the adversity. I can't believe those people made Uncle Mayor Storm Gabriel Henderson feel like he had to give up his position, he was the best mayor they ever had. They done made S S pull out the rifle and tried to rail road him ..... this is too much . Monica I need the next family member book to come on out so I can get updates. Write them damn meth heads out of Hendersonville . 🤣 Sick of them .
Just like the other Henderson men, Christian knew exactly the woman he wanted. What I really liked was that he didn't judge Mya about her situation upon meeting her. Mya was about to wear me out, though, with all of that running. Lord have mercy! Like Storm said "she's a track star!" LOL! So glad they confronted their issues and allowed themselves to just be. Love looked beautiful on Mya. Now I don't know who is next but we have a whole lot going on!!!!!!
How you meet someone while you're at the hospital since your brother just had a baby and you see someone struggling and you go to help her and her name is Mya and she is a romance author😀 being hurt in relationships can cause you to lose faith in your own self, makes you feel like no one wants you but Christian did did from the moment he saw her and man did he get her. There was a lot going on but the Henderson family don't let anything get them down they come with the thunder or should I say Storm 🤗😃
This book was pure perfection. I mean we’re 21 books into this series now and these stories just keep getting better and better. How Ms. Monica’s mind remembers details and connects people and situations from 10 books ago ON TOP OF including cameo appearances from characters from an entirely different series is chefs kiss! Started and finished this book in less than a day! Christian is a good man Savannah!!! And Mya deserved for someone to show up and keep their word the way he did for her.
This one right here didn’t waste any time or play any games. You’re in the storyline right off the bat just like Christian. He’s definitely a Henderson and is probably the most like Storm as can be lol the updates and the Henderson as usual are wonderful. I can’t believe we on this next generation of Hendersons and the stories keep on coming. The drama is slight and necessary. Monica continues to keep you on your toes and laughing along the way. I’m excited to see which Henderson is up next and to dig in more to this tight knit family.
Christian Henderson found the love of his life walking through the hospital. He didn't know it at the time, but she turned out to be exactly that. He helped Maya back to her room while he was visiting his brother and Angel. Maya let him know that she was not looking for anything more than a friend. The two of them went through serious turmoil to make their relationship work, but they made it. They even got a family and future out out of of it. The Henderson Family is still going through tragedy, but also going strong! Awesome read!
Okay Ms. Monica, This book had me on edge. And not for what you all might think. If you are an avid fan on The Hendersons, then you know how we feel about Uncle/Mayor. I had never seen him that way. ((The quiet before the storm is eerie Ms Monica.) Mya and Christian had alot of internal mess to work out. Baby the call to Mya's dad was tops! I just he would react like that. The flip side too. So please read this with you fav glass of vino and snacks. You might not put this book down until the end! 😉
This book was epic! First off, lets talk about how they met on the Maternity Floor! The story was hilarious and chaotic after certain moments in the book. Uncle Storm is still a fool, but you got love him because he’s the truth for real. I glad Mya put her insecurities aside and gave Christian a chance. It turn out to be the best thing for both of them. I can’t wait to see who’s next!
Monica, you really are keeping the Hendersons alive. How I love their different lives. I just love Christian and Mya. Their lives paralleled each other until it didn't. Watching Christian learn about himself and watching Mya surrender and learn to trust someone other than herself. I just love the Hendersons so much. Thank you for keeping them alive.🤗🤗🤗🤗
Another one under Mo's belt! Makes me wanna be a Hendersons! This family is everything. The unity is powerful! All for one, one for all! Christian is my kind of dude!!!!. He ain't no punk. He is soft when he needs to be and is rough when the need arises. Ms. Mya had a warm time relinquishing her independence. She got told though.....Christian straightened her out......love it!!!! Loved reading their journey...so would you.
Good reading. I love reading about the Hendersons. This one was as good as the others. I love the whole family along with the added family members. Christian and Mya did well. They had a great story like the others. I still think Angel takes the 1st prize ribbon but they are all good. Easy reading but you must read the previous books to fully understand who you’re reading about.
