Peter: The World - Short Poems and Tiny Thoughts is a collection of 26 poems based upon the surreal, magical story Peter: A Darkened Fairytale.
Inside these pages, you will find whimsical poems of 'The Light' and forewarning of 'The Dark'. The tale of Peter has inspired several books of which Peter: The World is the third publication and there are many more adventures soon to be released.
So, take a walk with wizards, dream of stars, drink blood with vampires and never ever listen to demons. If you look closely, you may even see sweet fairies hiding in your garden - tucked behind violet flowers. But, do be careful, they just may be vampire fairies.
Living in a small village in Lancashire, England, the author has written a number of books based on the tale 'Peter'.
In the 1990s, the author had twenty-one articles published, both nationally and internationally. After gaining an honours degree in Geosciences, doing post-graduate study in Occupational Health and Fitness, and earning a masters degree in Science Communication, he developed an interest for simple communication.
A passion for writing again emerged, and combining various interests in fine art, museum exhibition display, biology, geology, poetry, and the mystical led to the story of Peter: A Darkened Fairytale. The author still retains a childlike vision of the world, which is conveyed throughout his books.
"Peter - The World (Peter by William O'Brien Peter - The World (Peter: A Darkened Fairytale #3) Short Poems & Tiny Thoughts - Vol 1" by William O'Brien is a selection of inspired poems, taken from and pointing to Peter: A Darkened Fairytale, a magical novel series by the author. This dialogue between poem collections and novels is a great idea. I thoroughly enjoyed the novels and loved having the poems taken out and reading them separately. Peter's adventures are not unlike Alice in Wonderland or Narnia: a darkened world of fairy tales fare, wizards, fairies and demons. Playful, inventive and original the author has found a niche in the market and secured himself a unique place within both, the fairy tale and the poetry world. Told in rhythmic staccato style the flow of these poems is fast, captivating and enchanting. If you love poetry and magic you will love this wonderful collection.
These poems and thoughts are from the world of Peter: A Darkened Fairytale. Even if you haven't read that enchanting novel you will enjoy the wisdom and secrets contained in the little book, 'Peter - The World (Peter: A Darkened Fairytale): Short Poems & Tiny Thoughts - Vol. 1, by William O'Brien. This verse resonated with me:

This is a very enjoyable and inspiring collection. I have read Peter: A Darkened Fairytale and also highly recommend it. Along with this and the other related books by the same author. 5-stars.
Peter: A Darkened Fairy tale is a magical tale that is awesomely like one of my favorite books-- Alice in Wonderland. I love Peter so much I was thrilled to see a book of poetry dedicated to this darkened world. I wasn't disappointed. It was amazing the way this author managed to weave short poems into a new magical tale. Great book.
In..."PETER THE WORLD ~ Short Poems & Tiny Thoughts" the author explores the worlds of Light and Dark with the use of Haiku-like poems. Peter lives in a magical world filled with fairies, vampires, ghosts, wizards, witches, and he experiences each of these characters as he encounters them. As stated in the Author's Note, "the author still retains a childlike vision of the world, which is conveyed throughout the book". This gift is clearly demonstrated in all of his writing as he vividly describes each of these encounters.
When I was a young child, I was exposed to the fairy tales penned by Brothers Grimm. Whenever I read the musings of Author William O'Brien, these previous fairytales and folklore come to mind. Although the styles and tales are different, there is a familiar thread of creative writing talent to be discovered in this Boxed Collection. It stretches the imagination of its reading audience and will appeal to all ages...both young and old alike.

Peter - The World is a collection of short poetries inspired by the tale Peter:a Darkened Fairytale. This is the first volume of the collections, probably the one that left me more amazed between the all of them. Maybe because I was not expecting this kind of work: it's not easy to "translate" a tale into short poems that can free your mind to "manipulate" and get deep into a narrated story. Mr O'Brien managed to do this in a brilliant way, with a rich and intriguing writing style which will involve you into a fantastic world of magic. Definitely a reading recommended for bed time stories!
This book contains a collection of short poems based on the world introduced in O'Brien's novel 'Peter: A Darkened Fairytale'. The poetry is a mix of light and dark subject matter with an underlying sense of wonder at it's core, much like the novel itself. Be prepared to enter a realm of magical creatures; some benevolent and some wretched. Anyone picking this up without having read the book it is based on will doubtlessly be drawn to read it very soon after. This is an excellent addition to the wondrous world O'Brien has created. Highly recommended!
I used to be very into poetry but I somehow drifted away. I finally decided to pick up a book on poetry and i am glad it was this one. I think I may end up reading some of the authors poetry books.
I highly recommend picking up this book specially if you're into poetry.
Light, beautiful and poetic. Not many authors or poets are blessed with the divine ability to connect with readers soul's passionately and you indeed have this gift. This was a wonderful read, well done.
The poems in PETER — THE WORLD ~ Short Poems & Tiny Thoughts" are written with a feather-like touch. The author, William O’Brien, conjures up a magical world in which his protagonist, Peter (of A Darkened Fairytale), lives. This is a complex world, made of both light and darkness, where sweet fairies may be ‘hiding in your garden, tucked behind violet flowers,’ but where all is not as it seems, as these fairies just may be vampire fairies. And so, vacillating between hope and fear, you experience this world with heightened emotions. Here is the invitation whispered in your ear:
Magical book Has opened wide Mysteries kept Concealed inside
Walking with them Smell and touch Pages of gold Edged with luck
A review of "Peter - The World (Peter: A Darkened Fairytale): Short Poems & Tiny Thoughts - 1" I find the Peter volumes by William O'Brien to be delightful series, wisdom literature for children of all ages. If you cherish your inner child, Peter. "Tiny Thoughts 1" shows you yourself and the world through Peter's clear eye. If you've read Tiny Thoughts 2, you know why you must read Tiny Thoughts 1. If not, your adventures with Peter can begin through the mechanism of this book: thoughts not truly tiny, but simply expressed.
Buy any Peter book, and you're in for a treat. By this one, and your soul will breath a bit easier in today's congested world.
A further volume of poetry based upon the world created by author William O’Brien in ‘Peter: a Darkened Fantasy’. The writer uses short rhymes to conjure up pictures in our minds as we are once again taken on a magical journey of whimsy and delight. Great one for both kids and adults alike.
William O'Brien is becoming a favorite among fantasy fans. I love his descriptive narratives of the characters of Peter's world. I will certainly recommend this book to poetry and fantasy lovers.
