Born in the small town of Clintwood, in southwestern Virginia’s coalfields, Adam Lawler is the son and grandson of coal miners. Determined not to work in the mines, Adam graduated from high school at age sixteen and attended Coastal Carolina Community College in Jacksonville, North Carolina, where he earned an Associates degree.
Adam continued his education at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, where he earned a B.A. in history with a minor in psychology, and a M.A. in Appalachian Studies. Finding little work for professional hillbillies, Adam went to work in the retail automotive industry, holding several sales and finance management positions over a twenty-year time span. He also taught Western Civilization and Southern Culture at Wilkes Community College.
Adam is a ham radio operator, holding the callsign WK4P. He has been actively involved in the hobby for over twenty five years and supported our sailors and marines by serving in the Navy-Marine Corps Military Auxiliary Radio System (MARS) program.
Adam settled in West Jefferson, North Carolina and raised three children; Cyndi, a fourth grade teacher, Wayne, a glass artist, and Rachel, a customer service representative. He is currently empty-nester and still lives in West Jefferson with his Doberman Pinscher, Freyja.
Great way to retire, good start for a book series.
First book, with an almost promise that more adventures will follow pleases me greatly . The couple seem to be a very adaptable pair with quick wit and enough inquisitive mind bend to be able to slip into many different types of weird situations and hopefully gain a great audience. Well written and easy on the mind, but hard to put down for a break. Thanks for that, anticipating many more soon.
As a nudist, I found this book to be a very accurate description of social nudism (except no one uses the word colony). As someone who is nearing retirement, it is wonderful to have protagonists who would be peers.
It was entertaining and suspenseful. I am really looking forward to his next books.
Loved this story. Very fresh perspective. A good twist on the typical novel. Loved the references to southwest VA since that is where I am from also. Looking forward to the next one!
