Data is the new life of all business verticals across the world. Gone are the days when business leaders would call out for huge decisions based on fluke, intuition, lofty desires, and group discussions. Accompanied by AI and analytical tools, data gives proper insights and clear picture of the business, thus, enabling them to make informed decisions on expansion, acquisitions and mergers, investment, ROI and customer retention. However, data is vast, and only experts can tame it. Well, one such veteran is Cynthia Hetherington. She is into business investigation for over three decades. From early days of dot com bubble to AI apps, her knowledge on OSINT is impeccable.

Before commencing with this book, I did some online search on OSINT and Due Diligence in business. The definitions surprised me. Open Source Intelligence is a ground-breaking aspect for me to understand business growth stories. Well, the author has clearly explained, as the book chugs ahead, that gaining information and data from open sources online is a part of OSINT practice and further helps in forming a due diligence for any business. Due diligence helps investors and stakeholders understanding the landscape of business for current and future endeavors.

The book is segmented into four parts, each one is useful and lucidly written. Before getting into the ocean of OSINT, the author takes us through old patterns of CRAWL, somewhat similar approach like OSINT. It is a business-helping book, useful for critical business intelligence and evaluation in all endeavors. However, I feel that it can also teach great lessons to small and novice entrepreneurs that start ventures on their own from the drawing rooms of their home.

Business scaling, as often understood, requires impeccable research work. If you can grab understanding of OSINT, well then it can also foster up your research work. It is such a classic detective thing in the world that is being governed by data. The ethical practices and approaches presented in the book are of high value, the author lays her secrets out that she gathered throughout her career stances. If you are someone who loves to understand the behind mechanism of business and how you can make right and informed decisions, well then this book is imperative.
