There’s never a dull moment at a witching school but Misty’s summer term is more exciting than ever.
With the promise of a weekend trip to a faraway forest, the students look forward to watching the spring spirits bring magic to the lands. The event happens only once every ten years; it’s spectacularly special.
But, even more importantly, it’s a temptation that Esther can’t resist...
In this fourth book, we begin the third and final term of Misty and Bridgett’s first year at Moonstone Academy. 🌙 💫
Bridgett is glad to be reunited with Ariella and Button, but their joy is short-lived. 😱 Something goes terribly wrong with Button after she eats kippers. Will she recover? 🐟
There are hints that Bridgett’s powers might be developing in small ways, but it’s still uncertain how far they’ll go. 🔥
The highlight of this book is the introduction of the Spring Spirits and the once-in-a-decade Spring Ceremony. 🧚♀️ With a weekend trip to the forest ahead, the students look forward to seeing the magic unfold. 🌳
There’s also the quiet question of whether this final term will continue without Esther. 🐸
I really enjoyed the familiar characters, the season, and the magic itself. 🪄 It had warmth, friendship, mystery, and just enough tension to keep me turning the pages. 💞
I truly loved this book and it's the perfect addition to the Misty series 🩷
Misty as a character is just the sweetest and the relationships that build between the characters along the way are so comforting and well written.
The antagonist of this series is also incredibly well written and developed, definitely one of the reasons I found it so hard to put these books down!!
All that's left for me to say about this series is, i can't wait to find out what happens next! 🤭
I have loved this series and just how every story so far has felt like a build up to something bigger, it keeps you hooked. The theme of friendship is absolutely so wholesome and I’ve loved my time with Misty and Bridgette. The only reason we haven’t got a five star for this one, despite it being wonderful, is it felt just a bit different from the rest in the way that we stepped outside Moonstone, taking the story away from its integral location, but, in the grand scheme of things, that’s a tiny nitpick. This series has been full of fun and excitement and I can’t wait to see what’s next. Faith is a wonderful author.
This was another really fun addition to the Moonstone Academy or 'Misty' series, and now that I've read four out of the five books in this set, I feel I can write a slightly more in depth review explaining exactly why this series is so lovely, and why I can't wait to purchase the whole set for myself - and hopefully my future children!
Faith Fawcett's debut children's series follows Misty, a newly fledged (and assumably newly born!) witch's kitten at an academy for young witches - very similarly to The Worst Witch series by Jill Murphy, which was my absolute favourite growing up. Misty is a little different to the other kittens, and even more special, and his human is Bridgett, a lovely girl who never completely fits in. The two have a very unique bond, and this bond only develops throughout the series.
I love love love how each book feels like a separate chapter in a bigger story, with new characters slowly integrated, characters we grow to love - and hate. The antagonist grows in power throughout the series, growing more and more horrible with every book, and we find solace in the lovely girls at Moonstone Academy, such as Ariella, and of course the wonderful head teacher.
The only reason I couldn't give this book a five star rating is because it didn't quite live up to the expectations set by the first three... but was still thoroughly enjoyable, written in Faith's lively style that's impossible not to get lost in. The first three books had more of a self-contained arc, meaning they worked as standalone stories, but this book didn't necessarily feel that way as much.
If you're a fan of children's literature and losing yourself in fantastical worlds, this series is so easy to read, and such a warm universe. I can't wait to reread the full set when book five is out, and one day share the world with my own children!
Congratulations, Faith, on such a gorgeous, well-paced series.
Absolutely amazing! I was so excited to see what bridgett and misty next got up to and I’m loving the friendship between Bridgett and Ariella! The spring spirits filled my heart with joy.
A wonderful book 4 to a fantastic childrens series, beautifully told, whilst simplistically done for children, so beautifully crafted as all Faith's books are. Another great read!
