Cute story. Could have earned 4 stars except the many typos were more noticeable when using the text-to-speech feature on Kindle. :(

Enjoyable! Entertaining! And oh so Good!
This is one of my favorite authors. I have read numerous books across her many different series and they never disappoint. This is the 5th book in the Pearl Sands series and my favorite so far. Intriguing, interesting with a true twisty mystery. Charlene "Charlie" former private investigator and now hotel concierge is asked by a very wealthy hotel guest to help her with a mystery. Someone is blackmailing her and she has concocted a plan to flush them out.
Charlie along with her friend Nelson are to accompany her and 8 other individuals to an exclusive, remote tropical island resort where they will hopefully be able to uncover who the person is and also the true reason why. With very few clues, more questions than answers they have their work cut out for them.
Fast paced, very well written, it held my interest from the first page until the last. I read it in one sitting and because it takes place near Christmas it has a holiday vibe as well. And finally things seem to be heating up between Charlie and Nelson!! Yay!

September 28, 2025I enjoy these books. It is like reading the FL Keys B&B Bookk Club books over again ( a successful middle aged woman who meets a handsome gent who assists her with crime solving while she tries to reject her attraction to them. Of course there is another male who is interested in her, but she does not have that certain spark for them. It takes several books until the star crossed couple even kiss,if ever. I assume that is coming in book 6!
My main concern is the editing...so many misspelled or wrong sound alike words. Spell check is a wonderful thing, but not when it comes to editing books.
If you can over look the editing and cookie cutter plot it is a pleasant read. She does a good job of humanizing her characters.

Happy/sad to be all caught up with this series. I'm hoping there will be many more. This fifth book in the Pearl Sands Beach Resort Mystery series takes Charlie and Nelson on a PI gig on a secluded island with an intriguing mix of suspects. And it's Christmas! And romance is in the air which makes me all kinds of happy. A wonderful addition to my holiday reading repertoire.

I really love this series, and I say the same about every series I've read by Ms. Collins. I would normally give it 5 stars but the numerous typos were distracting and way too many to overlook. It took away from the enjoyment of the story. I will continue reading future books and hope the proofreading and editing get better. It's a shame, the writing otherwise is spectacular.

No spell check?
Spelling and grammar needed alot of attention. The series was a nice idea being at nice resort with some mystery to each story but alot of repetitive thoughts and feelings thrown in. It seemed like you needed enough words to make a book and the storyline was already figured out.

Love these books!
What a great Agatha Christie-style mystery!! Great location…believable characters…enjoyable writing…a few typos, but the story greatly made up for those…hope there are more stories with Charlie & Nelson…
