Rate this book
Welcome to enchanted Santa Catalina Island, where you can step into the past, and easily imagine what it must have been like to have lived here thousands of years ago. Memories abound throughout the island, from the houses that retain their 19th century charm, to the feeling that surrounds your senses once you begin your stroll through the streets of Avalon, or in the back country, far from the crowds. The island conjures up nostalgic reminiscences of a bygone era... it occasionally conjures up ghosts! Santa Catalina Island appears to be an Energy Portal or Door to Another World. where strange things occur. It is all too real. The island is a powerful spot, deserving of the name, the "Magic Isle." * The spirit of Zane Grey may still occupy his now converted house on the hill overlooking Avalon. Guests continue to see and hear what may be the ghost of Zane Grey in certain rooms of the Hotel, no doubt trying to come up with many ideas for more ghostly westerns. * The ghost of a former Chicago Cub baseball player may still haunt the now abandoned Catalina Visitor Country Club, wandering through the courtyard into an area which once housed the locker rooms during spring training. * Other spirits of former employees, residents, and frequent tourists who do not want to leave the Island, still appear to haunt various residences and establishments, including the Casino, Hotel Catalina, the Inn at Mount Ada and even Vons Market. * A discussion of other paranormal activity outside Avalon, where ghostly phenomena have been encountered at Toyon Bay and the Isthmus Cove - Where Natalie Wood's spectre is rumored to still wander.

Haunted Catalina is about the history and haunting of Catalina island in California. The book gives a good historical perspective of Santa Catalina island which is off the coast of Low Angeles California. The history of the island goes back more than 2000 years. It was first inhabited by Gabrilino Indians or Tonga India'ns, Spanish, used in the civil war, a place for celebrities, training camp for the cubs , World war 2 and a resort town. Each of those have contributed to many haunting on the island. This book contains a lot of the hauntings, mostly harmless, more of a travel guide to the island. The book is well researched but it does not have a lot of information. If you want a good history and good description of the island. It is a quick read.
