On the run from human hunters, Kit and his small group of shifters have resorted to anything to survive. So they have become a band of thieves…or rather, make that a band of wannabe thieves. So when Bowie, another feline shifter, discovers them and offers to take them back to his coalition, Kit agrees although he is weary.
Bowie can’t help but feel bad for Kit. Not only is he scared and hungry, but once he reaches the coalition, Kit finds out he has a brother he never knew about. Not only that, there is something about Kit that calls to Bowie. Something that makes him want to protect the Lost Shifter and hold him tight in his arms.
Will Bowie and Kit find their happily-ever-after? Or are they destined for happily never after?

This is the most recent episode in the Lost Shifter series. Book 29, although for some reason GR has different numbering. As a series I have thoroughly enjoyed the Lost Shifter stories. My ratings have varied from 2 stars to 4 stars. I like the series and will probably continue to follow it.
The most interesting thing about the series for me is the characters and their individuals stories and personalities. I do think the series needs some development because after a while the war with the ravens gets a bit boring.
I enjoy the way the lost shifters are slowly being identified and brought home and I like the sense of healing and reconciliation as the characters get to know who they really are and find their feet in the shifter world. I also enjoy the snarkiness of some of the characters.
This episode was ok too and sees Kit who is one of the lost shifters, return to the Coalition and begin to find love and hope in his new life as a shifter. It is very much a story of finding love, and finding family. There isn't much here that is different from earlier stories but it is still a pleasant read especially for fans of the series.
I follow a few shifter series and this is one of my favourites although I do hope the future will see much more development of the story.
It's hard to believe I loved these books so much when I first started reading MM lol.
Story wise there wasn't much, not that I was expecting much. But this one was really bland. Even the fighting scenes were only so so.
I just wish a bit more time was spent on keeping the continuity straight. In one paragraph we are told how sweet and innocent a guy is and then promptly told he is vicious in a fight and the words overkill come to mind when describing him. Meeting Kits brother was another mixed paragraph, with the brother denying he could be related to a shrimp then telling said brother he couldn't be happier that they are brothers.
And just why are the insect shifters so bloody big yet the felines and canines are all only slightly bigger than there wild counterparts?
I spend a lot of time wondering why I keep reading these and yet I know I will probably continue, at least with the ones I already have lol
This review is for all of the Lost Shifters, Wayne County Wolves, and Assassin's Loyalty books since they are all interconnected and I read them back-to-back pretty much nonstop over a 10 day period. If I have anything to say about a particular book I'll add it under this bulk review. First, I'd like to mention these are more like novellas than books but they have the same underlying theme and pretty much continue where the last left off but with a different couple.
Everything starts out with the Lost Shifters. To summarize there was a war between the feline shifters and the raven shifters. 20 years or so before the first book there was an all out slaughter in which hundreds of feline homes were attacked and burned down all of the occupants believed to be killed. Turns out that the babies and toddlers that were assumed lost were not. They were hidden within the human foster care system for the most part. I won't say how because that'd be a big spoiler. In addition to foster care some kids were sold into slavery and that's where the whole assassin thing comes in. A couple of the main characters marry into the wolf pack so that's where those books come in as well.
Pros: Since the books are so short there are no long drawn out boring details or general angst. There's usually only one sex scene although it's normally long as hell. Which makes the fact some people shelved these as erotica confusing. I liked the world building and even though there were times I think a little more info might have been nice it never detracted from the story or left me confused. Most of the relationships were a sort of love at first sight thing. Or maybe lust or obsession? Despite this the shifters all seem adamant that's not a thing that happens. There wasn't one character I didn't like. My favorite character was Shane and he must have been the author's as well since he got a few extra books and a side series Shane's Chronicles. There's no big end battle or anything but the last book Baily's 9th Life does pretty much tie things up nicely. I think if I'd been reading the series when they were released I'd be a bit miffed because that book didn't come out until a few years later if you weren't reading the assassins books. Also, these books all have some really funny moments and/or dialog.
Cons: The last several books didn't appear to have been edited at all. If if wasn't for the fact that I was so invested in the overall story arc I would have quit reading them. Things like sent instead of scent and too instead of to they instead of them and random wrong words completely. There were also a couple of times that things were said/thought almost verbatim in different parts of a book as if the author forgot she'd already put that info in there already. At the start of the series, they state that all feline shifters are bisexual but at some point the author must have forgotten that detail because suddenly there are gay shifters and homophobia and all this hate. Which brings me to my next con, the themes of the different books started to repeat. Suddenly all these shifters had been thrown out of their previous pack or coalition or human home for being gay. And throughout this huge series of books there was only one straight couple. Like not even a straight friend or whatever. Even the females were all lesbians. It was just kinda unrealistic especially with the whole gay hate thing going on. Usually there's at least a few couples or friends or something on the periphery in gay romances especially in a world this huge. Which brings me to my final con, I had a hard time remembering who was who and what there story was after awhile especially if they weren't mentioned much in previous books. I wish there had been some sort of glossary to review.
Despite the cons, I would still recommend these books. All-in-all I really enjoyed them and was dreading the end although the editing in the last few books really had me also looking forward to the end if I'm being honest.
It continually boggles my mind that I somehow managed to overlook a few of the last ‘Lost Shifters’ stories when they were originally published. I’m so happy to have the chance to rectify that problem and return to Flint, Michigan, the Coalition, and all my favorite characters!
Kit and his friends all share the same thing: they are all adopted, they all shifted never knowing they could, they all got thrown out of their homes for being shifters by their adopted human parents, and they all met while living on the streets and homeless. They’ve been living off the grid and trying to stay away from other shifters and humans, and trying to keep themselves fed. When Bowie stumbles upon them, Kit is almost at the end of his rope – he’s tired, hungry, dirty, and just wants life to go back to the way it used to be.
This was another okay addition to the Lost Shifter series, but I wasn't fully happy with it. For one, though the reunion between Kit and Rico happens, there's only one scene between them where they find out that they're brothers, and that's it. Rico doesn't play any other role in the book, which from the blurb, I was expecting him too. Their reunion scene felt thrown in just to satisfy the reader's curiosity from the previous book where we found out Rico had a brother. We're also introduced to a whole new group of shifters in this book, which will lead to further books in the series.
Now, my biggest problem with the series is that it doesn't seem to be leading anywhere. A lot has happened in 28 books, but now it just seems to be getting a bit repetitive. I still enjoy the series, and it cheers me up every time I get to revisit old characters, but now that there are so many characters that there's no chance to revisit them all. Some, such as Mitchell, Shane, Carson, and Jacyn are frequently revisited, but when's the last time Vapor, Seth, Ranger, Colin, or Chance made an appearance? The problem with a series that gets so big is that it's difficult to tie the characters together. And yes, I understand it's a big coalition with lots of people playing lots of different parts. All I'm saying is that I grew to care for a lot of these earlier couples, and while I like the new ones too, most don't hold the same place in my heart such as Jacyn and Logan, Vapor and Andrew, or Shane and Trevor. While I would love to see more couples, I would also like to see the plot further progressed and more glimpses at past couples, maybe even books revisiting them now. After all, this series started 5 years ago, so a lot has changed in the LS world, so how has that affected these characters from way back when?
All in all though, I still love this series, and will be looking forwards to the future books. I just know that it can be better. Just look at the beginning books of the series for example.

2.5 to 3 stars I liked both of these characters. Funny, cute and sassy. I just didn't really like them TO=GETH=ER. It's weird really. See two tall muscular men, One big one small with both sides in the driver's seat, but something about hearing about two small guys together just did NOT appeal to me. Other than that pretty standard fare.. just not appealing to me.
Mostly like the rest of the series. I still wish there was more like the first few books instead these are short stories that are becoming very predictable. I also noticed this changed the story of Rico from the last book. Still, they are fun to read when you need those kind of reads.
Kit and Bowie :) I liked these two small-ish shifters. I would have liked to have learned how Kit told his friends that he was a shifter though, could he smell it? Could the others? Where did he find them? I wanted more on that.
Kit and his friends have been living rough after being kicked out of their homes when they shifted for the first time but thankfully the Coalition takes them in
