Dark secrets haunt the final weeks of summer in Nantucket. Ida and her daughter must band together to face the truth -- and save one another from ruin.
It was always Ida's dream to found a company with her best friend Shelby. Nearly twenty years ago, they opened the doors of the Nantucket Sunset Cruisers, offering yachting adventures and sunset cruises to tourists.
It's been sensational since then. It's also been frantic. But that's what owning your own business is all about.
Besides, Ida and Shelby trust one another more than anything. They're more like sisters than Ida and her real sister, Sophie, are.
But this summer something is amiss at the company. Money has been taken.
It's not a small amount, either.
Ida and Shelby must take a hard look at the people in their lives. Who can they really trust?
Meanwhile, Ida's eldest daughter Frankie returns to Nantucket after college graduation. She's listless and confused about what's next.
But a handsome stranger has a startling proposition for her.
Maybe her life isn't over just yet.
A Silver Lining is book ten of The Coleman Series, a heart-wrenching yet hopeful family drama that unfolds between the glittering shores of Nantucket Island and Martha's Vineyard.
Katie writes women's fiction and clean, wholesome contemporary romance. She looks to everyday, real-life family issues to weave stories of heartfelt emotions, love and loss, and everything in between.
Come transport yourself to Martha's Vineyard: an island of vivid blue ocean, white sand, and a lively community of locals, who celebrate everything from the bright New England summers to the cold, yet cozy, snowcapped winters.
Life is good for Ida. She is married to the love of Her Life, Rick. Her daughters Nellie and Frankie are home for the summer. Frankie a recent college graduate battles personal issues after a breakup with her college boyfriend. Ida’s life begins to shatter at a yacht party for her father’s birthday. She receives word from her business partner Shelby about an onboard accident. The college friends own a Nantucket yacht/cruise service catering to the wealthy and tourists in the area. One of the wealthiest clients has been injured after slipping in water on the deck
After the accident Idaho discovers their insurance hasn’t been paid, and their finances are in serious trouble. Money has been siphoned away.
Meanwhile Frankie is approached by the devastatingly Handsome Zane, and she finds herself working for him
Who is squandering the yacht service money? Who can Ida trust? What is Frankie involved in
Mistrust and deception lead to a page turner.
Thank you to the author for this ARC. This review is my honest opinion.
Lordy…this book will feel like it’s knocking the top of your head off! You need to go into this story with a different perspective…when Katie Winters penned this bad boy, she didn’t pull any punches. The storyline is wicked; the characters are really different from what we’re used to; the plot twists and turns are something else completely; and while we don’t expect an HEA—the path to the ending truly shows us what love is. A Silver Lining left me in somewhat of a dilemma…I enjoyed the book but felt like I needed more. Something seemed to be missing…I highly recommend you grab a copy and see what lessons you learn from this amazing book. You’ll be glad you added it to your TBR list. (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and found it to be an interesting read!) ❤️
This was such a great mystery. I can easily see it being made into a movie. We met up with several members of the Coleman family. Best friends Ida and Shelby started the Nantucket Sunset Cruisers years ago. Ida discovers money has disappeared and needs to learn who took it. Ida and her husband Rick are also worried about their older daughter Frankie who has sunk into a depression following a break-up. Frankie unintentionally becomes involved with a group of "free spirits", led by smooth-talking Zane. I thought the plot of the story was great and very realistic. I highly recommend this book.
A Silver Lining is book 10 in the Coleman series by Katie Winters and back to Nantucket and old friends…
This story has so much happening…best friend’s betrayal, secrets, twists, turns, theft, depression, family drama, seeing old friends and more…cant’s wait for more Coleman stories.
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy (ARC) of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I have read many of Katie Winters book. I have noticed a few missed or Milliken words, but most of all there are many tines when the story uses the wrong name. This is very confusing to the read. Otherwise these books are great. Also in another series I placed an advance order for a book due out in a week and never received it yet I paid for it. There were still a few books in the series (this was like book 7 out of 11 or 12). She has great books. Thanks!
This book was great with all of the drama of Frankie meeting Zane and the boat accident. Shelby stealing the money for Zane and Frankie escaping from him to help solve all her moms problems. I look forward to reading Katie's next edition.
Katie Winters’ book, A Silver Lining, was different I thought than the others. It was not my happy relaxing story but more a mystery. It kept me questioning throughout and there was a twist at the end I did not see in the beginning!
What a page turner. Finished on one sitting. Twists and turns, who do you trust, where is the money? Friendships threatened. Family drama at its finest. ❤️❤️ Loved this series!!
To be young again! You're just starting out finished college. Give yourself time to discover what you want in thus life. Enjoy the moments ahead there is plenty of time.
I have to say, this is the first series that I have gotten to the 11th book in the series! Love this series, the characters and following the families etc!
Wow what a story! Ida and Shelby run a business together but funds go missing. Who to trust? Frankie is trying to find herself and a mysterious guy named Zane seems to be the answer. But it’s not all true and when Frankie realizes this - it’s a tough lesson. Tears and shock in this book! Great read.
