Vanessa Harris seems to be having a bad night. She's been abandoned by friends, has had to avoid a "dominant" freak of nature, and worst yet, she seems to find herself the object of attention to a man that can barely seem to speak English. Vanessa isn't interested in an interracial relationship, yet it seems Mr. Handsome blonde isn't getting the message. It could also be because her rebuttal has been given pretty half hearted at best.
Freyr seems to be having a terrible life. He's divorced, transplanted into a whole new world, and is almost incapable of understanding the current culture. He's not really looking for a love interest, but when he finds his way to Vanessa, he knows that he would be a fool to let the chance pass him by. He's insistent that they need to be together, regardless of color, and regardless of what his crazy ex-wife thinks. Freyr knows that he's a man determined to get what he wants...even if he has to use the tricks of a dominant to get his way. Vanessa may not believe that she's submissive, but Freyr knows that he has her interest. And everything else, is simply details to be worked out much later.
This book was not what I expected but it was what I needed. I read Shattered Dreams by this author around a year ago….it was an awesome mob themed story. It was re-released and was retitled….I tried to find other books by this author and recently stumbled over this series! For some reason, Shattered Dreams is not connected with her other stories on Amazon. Anywhoooooo….A Dom and His Not So Submissive Sub was GREAT. Freyr has been banished (kind of) to America after his divorce from Gerd…..they are both Norse Gods. Freyr sees Vanessa dancing in a club and it is InstaLove for him. Ms. James has written him as incredibly cute and sweetly sexy and Vanessa is funny, sexy and real. Of course, his past in the shape of his nasty ex wife comes to be a bother. I love how committed Freyr was to Vanessa….he never swayed AND he was proactive in protecting her. I love the supporting characters…his and her families. It was cool relearning Norse Mythology..even Loki makes a brief appearance. Like all great books….I am buying this one for my library. Ms. James if you are reading this review….I would love to read more about Josie and her Serbian mobster from Shattered Dreams…..but in the meantime…..I will read the rest of the Asgard Chronicles.
This was the first book I ever read by this author, and boy I'm glad that I read it! This book introduces you to Vanessa and Freyr. At first Vanessa didn't think Freyr would want a full figured woman, but her proved her wrong in so many ways. Both characters have had issues with past romantic relationships and Vanessa was a little skeptical about getting involved with Freyr. As they navigated their way through a love that would last lifetimes, their pasts tried to come between them with no luck. Freyr's adult son Fiolnir was a nice addition to the story.
I have had this book on my kindle for nearly a year now and I have only just read it. This is my first book by this author. This book is also available on Kindle Unlimited.
This is Freyr and Vanessa's story. This is a fun read which made me laugh. Vanessa is your typical black woman who does not like giving over control to a man, especially not to be tied up and all that jazz. She makes me laugh and in my book that is great because it is hard to do that these days, in some of these absolutely boring stories I have reading recently. There is a paranormal element to the story too.
That was not what I expected when I started reading this book. But I must say I was very pleased with it. It made me laugh and the story had great characters and the story wasn't to bad either. Keep up the good work
