Icelynn and Dash thought they would never see each other again after a chance encounter forced the two strangers together. One weekend was all they planned for, but life has a way of realigning fate.
Dash Everly aka D-Roc, to his fans, is living his dreams. Growing up in the projects wasn’t easy, but the scars of his past fueled his drive for success. It’s all falling into place, but something’s missing. Some unexpected news leads him back to the woman who left a mark on his heart all those years ago. He’s determined to stake his claim regardless of her circumstances.
Icelynn McGreggor’s engaged to be married, but it’s not the fairy tale she imagined. Her desire to please her father causes her to put her desires on the backburner. When faced with an ultimatum, she must choose between what her family wants and what her heart needs.
Family obligations have the potential to drive a wedge between them. Will they be able to overcome and choose love, or will they leave the past in the past?
First and foremost this book had me shedding a couple of tears😂 it was just that damn heartfelt and sweet. DASH didn’t play NO GAMES when it came to “ ICE BABY” that man that man said you gone be my wife and THATS THAT
Icelynn had all the material things in the world but was miserable. Her father’s new wife talked down on her, treated her badly, and he never stood up for his baby girl. So, she found comfort in being a loner. A couple days before Christmas she finds a nice-looking young man sitting outside her apartment in the cold, and her heart goes out to him. Her conscience will not allow her to let him sit out there with a storm brewing, so she invites him inside. Girl, stranger danger! 🤯 This chance decision changes her life forever.
Dash, down on his luck finds himself out in the cold, right before Christmas no less. When the beautiful stranger offers to let him seek shelter in her apartment, he is skeptical, but also desperate so he takes her up on it. Icelynn and Dash quickly find common ground with the lack of parental guidance and feeling alone in the world. After 21 questions, and friendly conversations find them in a comfortable spot, they are vibing way better than they should, with the short time they have known each other. However, they share with the other their dreams and aspirations for the future, amongst other things. 🥵 They give unwavering support for the future, although they may never see the other again. Dash leaves Icelynn with one thought, if I see you again, I’m making you mine.
Years later when they meet again, Icelynn learns that Dash means exactly what he says. She has her plate full with the ish her father is putting on her, but that means nothing to Dash. She better get it together; cause he's coming hard! He acted a plum fool about Ice Baby too. A whole mess, but she still wasn’t able to come from under her father’s thumb, even though she knew he meant her no good. 😤 I was beginning to give up hope that she would woman up and do the right thing. Thankfully she did and all is right in Dash’s world again. Enjoyed this read.
Unfortunately, I am so disappointed in this book. Too many contradictory parts. First, how did Icelynn go from hating the stepmother to letting her control her? Then she did it for the money but then the author said she had a bunch of loans and credit cards bills. So where did the supposed money go. Then Dash neglected his daughter at first then the language he used around his daughter was unacceptable. Next Dash swear he was in love with Icelynn but was sleeping with the next chick a couple of days later. Lastly, Icelynn was the worst. She strung Dash along for a known cheater who talked down to her who she knew she didn’t love in the first place. The reasons given just didn’t make sense to me. It was just all stupid. I hate feeling like I wasted my time but that’s exactly how I felt about this book!
4.5✨ From ten years later mark until the end, I could not stop reading. The way Dash was applying pressure once he was back in the presence of Ice was too good - I would have folded, too fast. 😌
Icelynn and Dash met on a winter night near Christmas when he was down and out. She helped him, and they connected over the holiday. Years later, Dash is on top, and all his dreams have come true. But then he sees Icelynn again--and realizes he has one more dream. Her.
I loved the connection between Ice and Dash. I think they had great chemistry and their passion was great. I loved Dash's unhinged moments and he added a comic relief I thought was great to the story. I like the way Ice fell in love with Dash and his daughter, and how they both stepped in to parent when it was needed for the other children. Ice's parents were definitely the villains and I harbor great anger toward her stepmother especially.
I will say there were some errors in the text and some obvious inconsistencies in the writing. Ice's backstory didn't add up in some places, the fiancée's motivation didn't ring true for me. Also, the drawn out breakup seemed unnecessary considering she fixed the issue right away, and I didn't understand why it went on so long.
Such a quick but great read, read it in one sitting. This was so funny 😆 I just hated how they dragged out Icelynn situation towards the end of the book and didn’t like how Dash had the nerve to be possessive when they were on they’re break as if he wasn’t sleeping with other women 🙄 That part just irritated my soul but other than that, I enjoyed this!

Highly disappointed. I saw a few glowing reviews on IG and moved this up my TBR.
While there were aspects I enjoyed, too much of the story wasn’t flushed out enough for me. Some of the plot lines ended with no real conclusion. All of this focus on the emotional abuse from her dad and stepmom. Only for the conclusion to be more exposure, and a mention of them again toward the end. Basically summarizing some vague results in one paragraph (if that).
The whole celebrity thing didn’t come across very well for me. Can’t quite but my finger on it. But it wasn’t sold very well.
And lastly, the bond between the MCs was a bit off. But having the MMC start dating later women after the 90% mark. So much so this woman is at his child’s birthday party. But still professing his love to the FMC was not it. Like seriously- that means the repair is going to have to rushed. Which it was. And really nothing was really addressed.
I think that was my issue, too many holes in the story. Some storylines were introduced that was never clearly explored and the purpose of mentioning it never became clear.
The Rodney and Dash’s connection and storyline didn’t make sense. And then it just went away.
I could go on and on. Basically it was not for me.
There were some plot inconsistencies and some things clearly thrown in for heck of it but overall this was pretty good. Dash was hilarious. I think the flow of the story could have been better but it was an entertaining read.
First read from Kami, & I must say I really enjoyed this book, I knew I would soon I saw the IG post from ( A.S) and I downloaded it immediately. The characters are so lovable , something you should add because you will enjoy very much at least I think so!!
4 stars I’m pretty sure this is my first book by Kami Holt. I was kind of frustrated with the fmc at times and kinda put off by the mmc being with someone else at one point, but this book had me hooked the whole time! Good narration on the audio (and it was on Hoopla for me). Excited to check out more from this author!
IF HE WANTED TO HE WOULD!! Dash Everly told Icelynn what it was from the start and he stood on business by all means . I really enjoyed this fast-paced romance and the story of these two . Dash is a man who knows what he wants and goes for it and j loved that about him. He showed Icelynn what it means to show unconditional love . The drama in this book also had me gagged !!!
Tropes ~ Single Dad ~ Second Chance Romance ~ One Night Stand
I was so hyped about this book, but I’m honestly a little disappointed. I wanted more, and I expected more. There were too many unresolved issues in the end, and in my opinion, the characters did not grow. The story felt rushed more than anything, and the plot holes were rather evident in this story.
Take Me Away had potential and it started strong but it was all over the place. I really liked both main characters in the beginning and was thoroughly annoyed by them both by the end. This book lacked focus and probably should’ve stayed in the drafts a little longer. Winston and Trei did what they do on the audio but even they couldn’t elevate the story.
The Novella was sweet but had sparks of spice. I would say 🌶️🌶️. Icelynn McGregor, the good girl who wanted nothing more than to please her father. Due to family issues. He abused his power. Icelynn meets Dash Everly spontaneously during a winter storm. This one linkup with a random stranger holds a special place in her heart. Despite a proposal to someone else and countless time passed, she still has a torch for Dash.
The unraveling of the family drama for her parents. Blow me. I already despised the father and stepmom.
I was happy it did end well. I enjoyed this. Even though Dash was unhinged. Icelynn was annoying and naive as

This was a sweet read about fate giving you a moment and trusting real love... I do hope someone slaps the skin off Ice daddy... anyway we get Dash and he played zero games about Ice and when he said she was his that was it... I do wish she had her real moment sooner but she had family issues. Good complete storyline and we get some great love and laughter
From the first few pages to the end this was well written and captivating. It was smooth and just flowed. She did a great job at tying the plot up without being wordy or going on a tangent. Dash was incredible. He was unhinged but also devoted. I loved themes of compassion and self-love. The ending was super cute. I highly recommend it.
Dash is the ultimate single dad. He really stepped up! Icelynn I felt could have had more of a backbone. Loved the second chance aspect of the story. This was fast paced. Everything seemed to have happened all at once but when you got Winston and Lauryn telling you the story of course its gonna go by fast😍
This was such a cute story!! Although Dash and Ice Lynn stressed me out I'm glad it came together well in the end. At one point I almost cried! This is definitely a must read!!!
Dash did not play about Icelynn. The moment they reconnected, the man knew what he wanted. Icelynn however took a bit longer to get on board and started to get on my nerves. 😂 It was a really good read with a great supporting cast.
4.5🌟🎧 Now this is the type of carrying on I can co-sign with. I don’t condone cheating but in this case I’ll give Icelynn a pass due to the situation with her trifling fiancé, father and stepmom. Dash was a whole fool but he wasn’t playing about Icelynn being his.
I really liked this story. It was very very sweet. From the jump, we see Iceland’s kindheartedness. It really didn’t make sense for her to endure what she did with her stepmother, fiancé’ and father later in the book.
Dash was in a bad place when they met, but they had a wonderful little fling. But 10 years later…he was ready and from the moment she reentered her life, he said that she was his and nothing else mattered. He proved it with his actions.
I love how some background characters connected the story together.
I absolutely loved this book. Icelynn and Dash were meant to be. Dash had me cracking up. My alone complaint was that it was too short. I go into books blind and I don’t read the summary. I love that for me, especially when it’s a great read.
