This book was definitely written by AI. The “author” states in the introduction that “Garrett Monroe” is actually a “pen name for a team of trust experts”, not a single person. That’s bullshit. This book read like it was spat out by a ChatGPT result. Had absolutely no life or personality to it and practically everything was written in bullet points… typical of AI. Whoever created this book just didn’t want to put their actual name down because then that implies accountability. There’s nothing here to learn in this book that you can’t just ask AI if you have any questions about how trusts work. And it doesn’t even go into depth on how you actually file and setup your trust. It just gives some basic information about trusts and then tells you to go hire an attorney to do it for you. This book sucks. Waste of money.

A wonderful introduction and primer to the world of living trusts, covering: what they are, their benefits over wills and probate, the differences between revocable and irrevocable trusts, roles and responsibilities of actors involved, shortcomings of trusts, and helpful action steps to start developing a trust. There is a helpful chapter on placement of social media into trusts.

The book is an easy read. The book is written by a group of ghost authors. The only downside is that many of the book's concepts are repeated several times. This aids in retention, but the book could be easily shortened by several pages.

Garrett Monroe's book on living trusts is a practical guide for anyone navigating estate planning. It clearly explains living trusts, their benefits, and how they work. The section comparing revocable and irrevocable trusts stands out, offering a balanced view that helps readers make informed decisions.

The book provides essential insights on selecting trustees, funding trusts, updating them, and understanding trustee and beneficiary roles. The free downloadable resources are a bonus, making it even more useful.

For anyone seeking to prepare for end-of-life financial affairs or help a loved one do the same, Monroe's book is a reliable, straightforward resource.

As someone who appreciates clear, logical structure and the importance of precise documentation, I found this guide to be an absolute standout. Most estate planning books either stay too high-level to be useful or get so bogged down in legalese that they become unreadable. This 2026 edition strikes the perfect balance; it demystifies the "why" behind revocable versus irrevocable structures while providing a technical roadmap for handling complex modern issues like digital assets and cryptocurrency. It’s rare to find a resource that treats the reader with intelligence while still keeping the process remarkably efficient.

The real value proposition here is the inclusion of the ten practical forms. Having a "Living Trust Creation Checklist" and a "Trustee Training Guide" immediately turns the theory into a working reality. It covers the nuances—like pet trusts and medical consents for minors—that often fall through the cracks in a standard DIY approach. Whether you are building an estate plan from scratch or just looking to tighten up an existing strategy, this book provides a high-level framework that ensures nothing is left to chance. It is a sophisticated, all-in-one solution for anyone serious about asset protection and family harmony.

I’m typically not into reading these types of books (I’m more of a fictional reader) but boy was this a simple read to get through and it provides SO much information. I had an idea of what a trust was prior to reading this, but the depth of detail it went into from the types of trusts, what to include, the taxations, the step by step guide of what’s needed and even referencing larger real life situations was amazing. It’s also convenient that this book is written for simplicity for anyone to understand it. I went into reading the book already intimidated that it would be so complex to understand, especially terminology I’m not familiar with, and not having any idea of a trust but it was actually so easy to follow. I do feel like parts of it was repetitive and could have done without some of that (i.e. avoidance to probate through a living trust), but maybe that was intentional to get the point across and allow the reader to remember it too? Eh, not sure, but I’d definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in a living trust or unsure about it in comparison to a standard will.

This book makes the complex world of living trusts genuinely understandable. Garrett Monroe has managed to cover everything from the basics (what a living trust actually is and how it differs from a will) through to tax strategies, trustee responsibilities, digital assets, and even post-death administration, all in a way that’s easy to follow.
The book is really well organised and each chapter builds logically, starting with myths and misconceptions, moving into specifics like choosing a trustee or funding your trust, and then tackling modern issues such as online privacy and cryptocurrency. The included forms (like the living trust amendment, pet trust, and pour-over will) are a real bonus and make it much easier to translate the theory into action.
A smart, practical read for anyone who wants to protect their family and avoid the headaches of probate.

I bought this book because I needed to set up my living trust and didn't want to spend so much on a lawyer, so I said I have nothing to lose and the truth is that it's very well explained, without so many complicated words. What I liked most were the forms that come included, especially the will and power of attorney - hopefully I won't need to use it soon.
Also, following the instructions I was able to perfectly understand how the whole issue of avoiding probate validation and protecting my assets works. The tax section also helped me a lot because it explains how to save money there.
It's a very practical book, reads quickly and gives you everything you need to get started. I recommend it if you want to resolve this issue without making it so complicated.

I picked up this book because I wanted to understand living trusts without paying a lawyer right away. It definitely gave me a solid overview, and I appreciated the included forms, which make things feel more practical.

That said, I found some sections repetitive and a bit overwhelming. The explanations are clear enough, but at times the legal jargon slipped through, making it harder to follow than I hoped. It’s not exactly the “only book you’ll ever need,” as the title promises.

I think I’ll still consult a professional to be sure I don’t miss anything important. Still, if you’re starting from zero, it does help break down the basics and point you in the right direction. For me, it was useful but not essential.

Easy to Understand Estate Planning

Many Americans live by the rule the “The check to the undertaker should bounce.” It's a testament that many do not realize they are living by.

Living Trusts are known for their complexity. And they can be. But Living Trusts do not have to be complex. And a Living Trust can provide protection to even a modest estate.

This book outlines the terminology, the strengths, and the weaknesses of Living Trusts, in a way that is accessible to everyone.

Garrett Monroe is a team of Retirement and Financial planners who have combined their knowledge to help us learn enough about Trusts to make an informed decision about our choices.

i TRUST this!

This was a good and informative read. I have been more proactive about financial literacy lately and the knowledge and wisdom this provides not only gives you insight into Trusts but it also gives you general understanding of how taxes can affect your inheritance and/or legacy. I always thought that trusts were for the ultra wealthy. Reading this book has shown me that trusts are also useful for middle class families and anyone who wants to be smart about protecting their assets and sharing them with the next generation.

This book prepares you properly

This book really is what the title says. It includes a living trusts checklist so you know all the ones you will need. I loved that this includes a pet trust in it because people don't generally think about those. This includes all the usual ones as well such as POA and Last Will and Testament forms. This is a very valuable and important book that every adult should have on hand and prepare for the unknown.

This guide made what seemed like an overwhelming process so manageable! I finally understood living trusts, how to protect my assets, and plan for my heirs without feeling lost in legal jargon. The step-by-step explanations and included forms were incredibly helpful, making it easier to put everything into practice confidently. I feel much more secure knowing my estate is organized and that my loved ones are protected. It truly gave me peace of mind and clarity.

I have been torn between a will and a trust; this book will provide you with the answers in layman's terms. The book discusses revocable and irrevocable trusts, as well as the options for setting them up either DIY or with the help of an attorney. It discusses the pros and cons of each. If you own copyright to anything, it can be left in the trust, and that kind of information is priceless. Very eye-opening in many ways.

Repetitive and Redundant and Repeats itself and Repetitive

I want my $10 back. This book was worthless. I read the sample and thought I would go ahead and get the whole book based on number of reviews and star rating. The rest of the book pretty much restated the sample in subsequent chapters. Waste of time and money. I think I know less about trusts than I did before reading this garbage.

Could have been much shorter

This book does a great job of teaching what trusts are and their pros and cons. However, the book can seem a bit repetitious. Throughout the book, and especially in the first three chapters, a lot of the same material is reviewed multiple times.
