For Rory, seventh grade had been all about survival, and survival required angelic assistance… Then she had to survive the angelic assistance.
As for eighth grade—the pointless last year at Whitestone Elementary that separates her from her best friends—she has every intention of pushing through it as painlessly as possible. She’ll just keep a low profile (tallest girl in class, crazy not helping), and get decent grades (though there’s that evolution test she is reluctant to write the “correct” answers for). But she’s determined not to draw any more unwanted attention to herself.
Except there’s the matter of Bliss. The new girl in town has an irresistible ability to lead people down paths they never meant to tread; for Rory, they are paths she never-ever thought she’d re-tread. In Cornerstone, she discovers that when you try to live with one foot planted on solid Rock and the other on shifting sands, you’re going to end up falling flat on your face.
