Wings of Valor: A USS Enterprise Naval Adventure Novel

Rate this book
Japan’s landed some heavy blows… but it’s time for the next round and this time… America is hitting first!

At pearl harbor, the men and pilots of Enterprise stepped into a nightmare. At the Marshals, Wake and Marcus, they let the Japanese know that the U.S. was not afraid to fight. At Midway, they deflected a massive attack and altered the course of the war… and now it’s time to truly get some payback.

The navy and Marines are going to do what Japan failed to do at Midway – break down the door and get their foot in Japanese territory. Operation Watchtower is headed for Guadalcanal and it’s up to Enterprise to make sure nothing stands in the way.

However, the Japanese aren’t taking the loss of Guadalcanal and Tulagi lying down. Yamamoto readies the mighty Kido Butai for an all-out assault on the Solomons including carriers, warships and transports… and now, with one carrier away, the thin blue line of Enterprise and Saratoga is all that stands between 20,000 Marines and complete destruction!

The birds of war roar through the sky as the world trembles with explosive thunder! Wil the men of the Fightin’est ship in the Navy be enough to stop the Japanese Juggernaut?

Descriptive

The story accurately lays out the details of the battle and damage to the ship. The ship was only saved by the courage, determination and abilities Ed of young men.

Marvelous story of the US NAVY CLIMB TO TAKE THE OFFENCE FROM Japan for the rest of the war

The USS ENTERPRISE & Sister Carriers lead the offensives actions, making possible the successful Island hopping actions that followed.
The real heroes names were used & due credit was given.
The great difficulties & sacrafices required were well described.
Many of these heroes went on to long Careers & high achievement.. for example I served under Captain Jim Daniels who commanded The USS TICONDIROGA (CVA 14) as
The Vietnam War was beginning in 1961. He had learned the lessons of command well.

I grew up outside of Great Lakes Naval training Center in veterans housing after WWII. The men I was around for 7 years were all not just navy but also marine and army. I love Mr. Cook's stories because they portray the men from those days the I remember them from my childhood. I didn't know it at the time what the war had been like for them because they didn't talk about it. Later in life I served and spent a year in Nam. After that I was able to look back and understand why. Keep writing Mr. Cook and thank you.2024

The Saga of the Enterprise continues with many new faces. The US struck back by invading Guadalcanal poorly planned and executed but the Marines ashore sustain themselves by eating Japanese rice and learning quickly how to fight their soldiers. The USN also is learning about Japanese tactics, weapons, and warfighting skills. Unfortunately, at the cost of many lives, cruisers and destroyers. US admirals were still fighting with old skills and biases about the Japanese Navy. Their fliers learned much faster than the big ship senior command

excellent history lesson

I checked aboard the Big ‘E’ CVA(N) 65 the day before she was commissioned. Parts of her namesake were in use on the bridge. Now she is scrap and the line is unbroken with a new Big ‘E’ under construction. Impressive ship.

Book 4

Another great story taken from our navy's history. In war men step up to great lengths to help there fellow soldiers. Mr. Cook does a great job showing us how they do it.
