A savvy PA on a reality dating show and the silver-tongued prince she’s obligated to marry off hide secret feelings while being filmed in this small town, enemies-to-lovers, forbidden romance. But what happens when the camera catches everything?
Cat Bloomfield is a hustler who desperately needs a break and a cup of peppermint tea. She’s on the brink of becoming a partner at her PR firm and willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen, even if it means being a lowly personal assistant for a dating show starring a confidential celebrity client. Filming over the holidays in Garland, a secluded ski town nestled in tall Jeffrey Pine trees, just might be the perfect escape.
Unfortunately, the star of Royal Hearts is Cat’s nemesis and arrogant heir to the Danish throne, Winter Larsen. And all he wants for Christmas is revenge. His royal image needs an overhaul, and he agrees to find a wife on the American dating show only if a certain PR rep he has a grudge against works as his assistant. Now, Cat’s career hinges on transforming him into the dashing prince everyone expects, while he vows to make her loathe every minute.
As revenge melts into respect like snow in a mitten, the surprisingly sincere prince finds he has serious chemistry with his fiercely loyal assistant. They try desperately to hide stolen touches and hidden glances as forbidden feelings grow. Fans watching Royal Hearts, shipping the prince and the PA, are kept on the edge of their seats. But they’ll have to wait for the finale to see if Cat and Winter can pull off an unscripted happily ever after or if their secret romance was merely for show.

This book has such a hallmark vibe with a good Christmas rom-com feel to it and i loved it! I really enjoyed each character throughout this book and the part they played in it. I'm definitely a sucker for royalty rom-com books so this was wonderful. Winter is definitely an interesting character to learn about and i really liked that at first he seemed like this full of himself type of person but then as you go through the book you realized he is a genuinely sweet and golden retriever type of guy. Cat was such a misunderstood character at first with winter and im so glad she was this sweet and selfless type of person that would help anyone even if she didn't get anything out of it. The tension was perfect and i really enjoyed the dislike to like trope in this book. The Christmas setting in this book made me SO excited for Christmas and it had all the cozy feels to it.
Happy Release Day to @margaretrosebooks and this absolute GEM of a book! Thank you so much to Margaret Rose and @lovenotes.pr for selecting me to be lucky enough to read this ARC early and share my thoughts with other readers.
Tis the time of year to be on the hunt for Hallmark romance movies and books with the elite spicy holiday vibe, if you are like me and embarking on this never ending search, LOOK NO FURTHER! This book is it. The spark between Cat and Winter that was so obviously sizzling in the background of Book 1 has fully ignited. Welcome back to Garland where you can just smell the perfect slow burn romance simmering like mulled wine... until it bursts into the spiciest flames (in the good way! That gym scene though! Whew!)
I thought I loved John as a book boyfriend (and I DO!) but Winter does not disappoint. You can see how they are friends, Winter is the emotionally complex with eyes-only-for-you royal prince that we all needed in our lives this holiday season. Ugh, this enemies-to-lovers was expertly executed as each character has a strong backstory and elaborate motivation. The angst he tries to fight by hiring Cat as his PR for the reality show he is being forced by his parents to go on dissolves like marshmellows into hot chocolate once he sees what Cat is really like. This ends up making for the perfect tumble into a he-falls-first situation. The sweet, thoughtful moments where he showers Cat with gifts was the icing sugar on top of the cookie for me, I swooned at each hand drawn heart and every single mailbox moment and might be trying to get my hubby to buy me one of my own or at least a tattoo...
The pacing was just as perfect as book one and I binged this in one sitting yet again. Margaret Rose is a genius, her writing is stunning, full of colorful imagery and addictingly immersive. It is 100% the type of perfect holiday romance that will be living rent-free in your head all season long! Okay, time to get tangled up in some Christmas lights, wearing soft wool socks and snowed in stuck in a castle... Just trust me, read it and you'll want the same thing. Cheers!
i loved loved loved the concept of this book. as someone who works in entertainment, i felt like this was going to be a such a fun and cute holiday read… unfortunately, this one missed the mark in execution for me.
the book reads well. it’s easy like any holiday romance should be and the overall pacing was fine. the setting is charming of course and it has that quintessential hallmark feel to it.
i think where it didn’t work for me was its lack of focus. there’s a lot going on. there are lots of story elements and people to keep track of that don’t seem to have any kind of real payoff and i think it steps on the time that could have been spent developing the mc’s relationship more or even their individual characters. i think they themselves were interesting people and the things they struggle with are relatable, but i wasn’t truly attached to them in any way. their relationship developed too quickly for my tastes and i’m also not a big fan of miscommunication. the spite that they have for each other is briefly mentioned at the beginning of the book but it happens off page and it felt like a flimsy origin story.
overall i think it’s a quick and fun holiday read but not necessarily something i’d reach for again.
thank you to @lovenotes.pr and @margaretrosebooks for the arc 💌
Excuse me while I go and catch the next plane to Garland. Margaret does an incredible job of bringing Garland to you; the descriptions, the imagery, the downright coziness of this story is everything you need in a good holiday rom-com.
This enemies to lovers story is everything we all know we want. The tension is top tier and by the end of it, you're going to wishing for a Winter of your own, especially after the GYM SCENE. WOOF.
Margaret has done it again. She's created a cozy little Christmas town that everyone dreams about, paired with the story of Cat and Winter and you've got yourself a dreamy rom-com that should be on everyone's Christmas list this year!
This was such a cozy, feel good christmasy hallmark vibe good time. 😊
Margaret does a phenomenal job and making the writing feel as cozy as the town that they’re in. Her writing is bingable and enjoyable. She created such warm and relatable characters which i find impressive as one of them was royal and still felt relatable.
I really enjoyed the overall plot of the book! As someone who enjoys reality dating tv, it felt like a fun “behind the scenes” love story that you wonder actually happens on some of the shows we watch.
Mix in the TOP TIER angst that was built on top of a rivals to lovers trope and you has the best recipe for a cozy winter romance.
The banter was well done and I went from hating winter, to being on his team, to being his #1 fan.
I didn’t read book 1, and wasn’t confused or lost on any of the topics! I will absolutely go back and read book 1 now because I enjoyed this one so much! I would absolutely recommend it to me peers and will be reading more by this author in the future!
Cat Bloomfield is a hardworking, successful PR professional working towards her ideal future. Winter Larsen is the Prince of Denmark and hates Cat Bloomfield.
Set in the snowy mountainous town of Garland, CA - Cat and Winter realize that there is actually some magic in the Christmas Season. On the set of a romantic reality show, Winter is set to find love and Cat is set to go his personal assistant.
At what point do the lines cross, and stolen glances, heated moments and deep conversations turn hatred into love? Well…let’s just say the Little Star Lodge has a way with people’s hearts.
This was a cute holiday read with plenty of spice, and it sings to my enemies-to-lovers heart. If you love forced proximity, enemies-to-lovers, smutty romance, and shipping the obvious couple, then this should be on your TBR!
This is the second in the Love At the Lake series and is an inter-connected standalone!
TYSM to Margaret Rose and Love Notes PR for letting me read this early 🫶🏼
This book had a lot of potential for me to like, but I just couldn’t connect with it. It was an enemies to lovers trope but I just didn’t believe their “hatred”. He held a grudge against her so he made her work for him as PA because of said grudge? That just felt off with me. I liked the setting with the town and its community. It’s a cozy holiday romance with a fun premise but it unfortunately wasn’t for me.
[4.75 Stars🤩] Royal Hearts was everything I could have asked for in a holiday “snow”-mance! I laughed, I swooned, I thought my heart was going to melt into a puddle, and I’m obsessed with Winter and Cat! I loved this book from start to finish, and I’m already super excited for the next book in the Love at the Lake series!
I loved Winter and Cat’s dynamic since I first met them in Kissing Bandit, and Royal Hearts followed through on all of the dislike-to-love vibes. I LOVED Margaret Rose’s spin on a reality dating show and how she threw in a forbidden relationship trope to make Royal Hearts hot enough to melt all the snow at Little Star Lodge.
First of all, Winter has my entire heart. Even though he was a man on a mission in the beginning, the way he realized his feelings for Cat was so sweet and swoony, and I loved how Cat was his perfect counterpoint. She inherently knew how to take care of him even though he hadn’t admitted his internal turmoil, and the heart on the wrist? I will literally start crying just thinking about it. Not to mention all of the incredibly heart-warming and moments between them that had me smiling ear-to-ear. The letter box, the jacket, the overall care and attention? Ugh, this couple was everything and more!
Royal Hearts is now a favorite all-time holiday read….and you know what? I would re-read this book any time of year because their story is just THAT good, y’all.
+A huge thank you to Margaret Rose for the ARC of Royal Hearts! What a fun read! I had not read the first book in the Love at the Lake series but didn't feel like that affected my read of Royal Hearts at all - it worked perfectly as a stand-alone. And now I'm fully invested in this world and will be reading them all!
Enemies to lovers, Christmas, reality TV, spice - this book had it all! It felt like an edgier Hallmark movie in the best way. I fell in love with the setting just as much as the characters. You could smell the tension and spark between Cat and Winter from the moment they hit the page together. It was cool to see things play out through the reality show's lens as well. And what a fun cast of supporting characters! There were so many layers to this one - the show itself, the drama within the royal family, the friend group dynamics - it felt real. Well, as real as a European prince living in an American small town and getting his own TV show to save his reputation can be ;)
The only thing that kept this from a five-star read for me was how quickly it all wrapped up - we were living in this dreamy, slow-burn state for a while, then we got to the end of the show and everything came crashing down quickly. Then was fixed up just as quickly again! Felt a bit like whiplash there and the miscommunication of it all felt a bit out of place for where their relationship was at that moment. But we still got the ending we were rooting for, so that's a plus!
I would recommend this to readers who like holiday and/or royal romances, strong FMCs, accurate anxiety representation, reality dating shows, and something heartwarming for this time of year. The pacing moves nicely so definitely a book you can get through quickly.
This book had a slow start to me but the pay off was so worth it. Winter can’t stand Cat because she used his name to get something and he hates that. He demands that she is he PA for his dating show so that he can make her life miserable. That obviously doesn’t last long because they can’t resist each other’s charms.
Winter hates the spotlight so much and he was only able to get through the show with Cat by his side. The fact that they don’t like each other didn’t stop them from looking out for each other. The little hearts that she drew on his wrist to keep him grounded make me want to melt into a puddle.
The two of them realized fairly quickly that there were definitely feelings between them. They were always looking for one another. They had preconceived notions that were proven wrong. Winter realized how much Cat cared about the people she worked with and just wanted to help them. Cat realized that he has a big heart and truly loves his country.
The fact that the whole reality show was on camera including the background people made for an interesting plot. I loved when they would talk to their friends who told them that the whole world is shipping them. They were always so close to each other even though he is supposed to be dating other women.
I just can’t put into words how much I loved this book. Neither of them had really ever been in a relationship so it was new for them. It was cute how much it scared them but they knew it was real. Seeing them try to hide it when they were on camera most of the time was funny.
I do wish there was an epilogue with a proposal.
I will absolutely be reading this authors future books.

This book was such a fun read! A royal and a PR/PA? Totally hooked when I read the blurb. It’s my second book about a royal, so it was kinda refreshing for me to read this book.
Cat Bloomfield (FMC), content creator at Brand Hub PR, is a hustler. She's on her way to being co-owner of the company she's poured her life and creativity into when she's requested by name to be the PA on a reality dating show.
Winter Larsen (MMC), heir to the Danish throne, wants a revenge to Cat. The crown believes some good PR will repair his lone wolf image, and if he's going to suffer, so is Cat Bloomfield. Winter agrees to the show only if the woman he's got a grudge with is connected to the project—now it's her job to make him a dashing prince and ensure he proposes to a bride. He swears on the two-headed dragon crest of his family name he'll make her loathe every minute.
This book was seriously hilarious! The banter between them? I was loving it. And when Winter starts softening up toward Cat? That’s what really got me! Always gets me!
My favorite chapters were 22 and 24!
Also, this book has a Christmas vibe, so it was perfect to read it right before the holidays! If you’re looking for a good book to add to your Christmas TBR, this one’s it!
Thanks so much to Love Notes PR and Margaret Rose for the ARC of her newest masterpiece!
Royal Hearts is like a greatest hits compilation of everything we love about swoony RomComs. It’s hilarious, angsty, romantic, and so full of hope, capturing the magic of a love story that flourishes in the public eye.
Cat is a fierce, driven PR professional who’s dedicated to helping others reach their dreams. She’s confident in who she is, but she’s also learning how to juggle work and personal life. Winter, on the other hand, is a dreamy prince grappling with the pressures of royal duty. After finding peace in a life away from Denmark, he’s summoned back to find a wife—and that’s where Royal Hearts begins.
This was the perfect holiday romance! Watching Cat and Winter go from enemies to lovers was beautiful, and what really won me over was how they naturally became best friends. They understood each other at such a deep level, supporting and loving each other even in the smallest ways.
This book is the ultimate RomCom and has quickly become one of my favorites of the year and holiday season! If you’re a RomCom fanatic, holiday lover, and a fan of the enemies-to-lovers trope, READ THIS BOOK! It’s the perfect story to fall in love with just in time for the holidays. 🖤
When I picked this book, I expected cozy, peppermint-scented escapism with small town charm, reality show drama and a snarky enemies to lovers romance. Did it deliver? Well… sort of!
First, the good 👍🏻: the holiday vibes are immaculate. I practically hear the jingle bells and taste the hot cocoa. The Christmas town setting was so magical, I wanted to pack my bags and move there. Winter and Cat’s snarky banter was delightful in the beginning - exactly the kind of energy I crave from an enemies to lovers. Add the behind the scenes of reality show and I’m hooked.
But once the romance started, things got too perfect. The tension fizzled out and their transition from enemies to lovers felt rushed. I wanted more chaos, awkward moments and emotional buildup to make me root for them. Instead, it felt like they jumped from grudges to googly eyes in record time.
And that much hyped holiday break? What break? It was like someone accidentally pressed the fast-forward button. I wanted to see them interact without cameras but instead we got a time skip. Seriously it gave me whiplash. 😵💫
💔 Let’s not forget the third act breakup which felt more like petty argument than heavy emotional conflict. I feel it totally unnecessary and forced.
💭 Royal Hearts is a cute holiday read with good vibes but uneven execution. It’s perfect if you’re in mood for something light and festive but don’t expect too much depth. Margaret has potential and I’ll give her future books another shot. But this one? Let’s just say it’s more gingerbread house and than royalty palace.
Cat Bloomfield and Winter Larsen can't stand each other (or so they say). Danish Prince Winter refuses to star in the reality dating show Royal Hearts unless Cat serves as his personal assistant. With a promotion on the line, Cat begrudgingly agrees. As Cat supports Winter through reality TV gimmicks that trigger his anxiety, the two realize they misjudged each other. Soon, Winter only has eyes for the woman behind the camera, and Cat finds herself falling for a prince. But how can they be together when Winter has to propose to a Royal Hearts contestant for the final episode?
This book had such a fun premise and all of the Christmas vibes. I wish I could stay in Garland for the holidays! I adored Winter and the representation of mental health in his character. I also identified with Cat and her difficulty sharing any personal weaknesses. These two made the perfect team and it was beautiful to see how they opened up to each other. As there are elements of a forbidden romance here, it is a slow burn, but so worth it! I recommend this book to anyone who wants a Christmas prince under their tree.
Thank you to Margaret Rose and Love Notes PR for giving me the opportunity to read an ARC of Royal Hearts. I absolutely adored this book! It’s the perfect cozy Christmas Snow-mance, set in a close-knit mountain community that’s full of warmth and charm.
Winter and Cat are both genuinely likeable characters, and I found myself quickly becoming invested in their happiness. Their journey together is well-crafted, and while Winter is a Prince, the plot had a feeling of depth and authenticity to it, that I've found is so often missing from Holiday romances.
Royal Hearts is the second book in Margaret Rose’s “Love at the Lake” series, but don’t hesitate to dive straight into it, even if you haven’t read the first. I went in without having read the Kissing Bandit, and still found it super engaging and easy to follow.
Between the loveable pets, cast of dynamic secondary characters and the quirky town that they live in, I absolutely can’t wait to return to this world in the next book and will be adding the first book to my immediate tbr.
I highly recommend this 5-star read to anyone looking for a slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers cozy holiday romance, with depth and a pinch of spice!
✨ Royal Hearts by Margaret Rose is the perfect cozy holiday read! ✨
If you’re in the mood for a slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers romance packed with spice and serious tension, this one’s for you. 💥
Winter, a brooding royal prince, is forced to participate in a Bachelor-style dating show, and he hires his worst enemy, Cat, as his personal assistant as revenge. What starts as an uneasy truce quickly turns into forbidden attraction, and the small-town setting only adds to the charm and drama of their slow-burn romance.
I loved the mix of holiday magic, simmering angst, and spicy chemistry between these two. It’s the kind of book you curl up with by the fire, totally hooked on every page.🔥 If you’re craving a steamy holiday romance with all the feels, this is your next read! ❄️❤️
if you're looking for a cutesy festive book with a happily ever after this holiday season, Royal Hearts may be your book! Its easy to read and is multi POV! If you like the perfect combo of a slow burn, forbidden, enemies to lovers romance this book may be for you! Personally I found the slow burn was a bit too slow which did make the start a bit difficult for me to get into at the beginning however I think it worked out well in the end. I did really like the festive setting which felt really cosy and warm! I also think that the characters had good chemistry between them and I liked the small town aspect. I also liked the little details and the references.
-It was really good Christmas rom-com book . I adore each characters throughout the book and I adore how the played in the book . - this book sucked me right in .... I just couldnt stop reading it . - I adore Winter as he was really interesting character to learn about . At the first he seem he was so full of himself but when I got further in the book i realised that he is just so sweet amd golden retriever type. - Cat was an misunderstood character at first especially with Winter but she turn into sweerand selfless type of person that would just help anyone even if she didn't get anything out of it . - the tension was soo good .
I loved this novel as it did put me instantly in the cosy season, so this makes a perfect last half of November to December read. I've been waiting to discover more about Winter since reading book 1 in this series and this book serves it masterfully. The banter *chefs kiss*. The situations Margaret Rose puts them through have you hope and wish. It also was so fun to dive into the behind the scenes aspect of a reality show.
And now I'm here wishing I could read it for the first time again!
Royal Hearts is the perfect second book in the Love at the Lake Series. Margaret Rose’s spin on what happens when a PA falls in love with a real life prince while working on his reality dating show is romcom gold. This book will make you squeal in delight, laugh out loud, and swoon over the handsome heartthrob MMC, Winter.
If you are looking for a delightful, heartwarming, and lusty book to ward off the cool crisp nights this fall/winter then check this one out! Hallmark has nothing on Rose’s ability to make even the most hesitant hearts fall in love.
I am very much #teamwincat4eva 🫶🏼 These two are truly after my own heart. The sass, the banter, the secretly pining after one another, THE HEARTS. 🎄Margaret, my dear friend, this was absolutely wonderful. I cannot wait for everyone to fall in love with Winter and Cat, and collectively have us all route for them from day one. & thank you for giving us glimpses into the rest of the friend group! I love our side characters so much!
₊˚。⋆❆⋆。˚₊ I Received This As An ARC But This Review Is Totally Voluntary ₊˚。⋆❆⋆。˚₊
What I Liked: ❆ The atmosphere. Maggie writes the most cozy, picturesque settings and being back in this town, surrounded by these characters we fell in love with in Kissing Bandit truly felt like coming home. ❆ The Christmas energy! As somewhat of a Grinch myself, even I was enraptured by the Christmas spirit spilling off the pages. ❆ Cat Bloomfield. She was so relatable, and watching her walls come down and that vulnerability come out was so heart warming, and it was nice to see her admit that it's okay to be taken care of (sometimes). ❆ Winter Larsen. I loved Winter in Kissing Bandit, but seeing him in his own book, seeing that inner turmoil and struggle to do the right thing for his country or the right thing for his heart really just tugged at my heartstrings. ❆ The romance itself. I almost akin it to the energy that The Charm Offensive by Alison Cochrun had in terms of the TV magic, the 'finding love' television setting and the lead falling in love with someone behind the camera. Those books are always so much fun for me. With Winter and Cat, that established history made the hate to love so juicy and the tension feel so real. ❆ The SPICE. Listen, I'm no stranger to reading smut written by my friends. But Maggie pulled absolutely no punches with Royal Hearts. However, along with the scenes being spicy, they also held so much tenderness to them too. It really showed two people who are terrified to get hurt show the most vulnerable part of themselves and I just loved it.
Final Thoughts: ❆ Maggie Rose has figured out the romcom formula to a T. Her writing is witty, her characters charming, and she created this world so well that I really do feel transformed when I'm in it. These books really do just keep getting better, and I am so excited to see what comes next. If you're a fan of B.K. Borison, I highly recommend reading this series for all of the cozy, seasonal and small town vibes.
This book is like if The Prince & Me and The Bachelor got combined into an enemies-to-lovers romcom with a sprinkle of Gilmore Girls small town charm and Friends found family friendship and it was the perfect winter read!!!
Y'all this was such a cute perfect holiday read, I devoured it and would read it again and again. The chemistry, the banter and the Christmas town and vibes hell yeah!!! I 100% recommend you don't even have to be in the Christmas mood for this one A1!!

Thank you so much to Love Notes PR and Margaret Rose for sending me an ARC of Royal Hearts!
When Cat, a PR manager, is hired to be a PA for an NDA disclosed client on a new reality dating show she doesn't expect it to be Winter, the Prince of Denmark who is her biggest hater. She would do anything for her company so accepts his request even though it feels like a massive backtrack in her career. Per a contract Winter signed, he is expected to find a wife at the end of the show and move back home to resume his duties as Prince, not to fall for his PA who is supposed to hate him as much as he hates her. Tension is high in the mountainy small town, feelings are off limits and careers are on the line, but they always say the camera never lies.
This is the second instalment in the Love at the Lake series by Margaret Rose, where we follow Cat and Winter try to fight feelings for each other that they didn't think they had. Winter was supposed to fall in love on this show, just not with his PA.
Margaret has done a fabulous job of capturing that perfect Hallmark Christmas rom-com feel and I am all here for it. Starting the book out I very quickly learned that I would like these character and not want to put the book down till I saw them get their well deserved happy ending. In this equally heartwarming and lust filled book you really do fall in love with these characters and their stories, definitely want to give them a much needed hug.
Cat is your perfect 'black cat' girl boss, Winter is your fluffy 'golden retriever' prince, they match each other's energies and balance each other out perfectly. I thoroughly enjoyed their back and forth, truly adding to the whole will they just admit their feelings for each other and get together already.
I am so happy to have discovered Margaret Rose's books and I definitely plan on reading the first book then hopefully the next instalments in the future! If you are after a cosy, laugh out loud, Christmas rom-com feeling book I would definitely put this book on your Christmas List!
KEY TROPES: - enemies to lovers - black cat gf x golden retriever bf - forbidden love - reality dating show - christmas romance - small town - secret relationship - found family
This is my first approach to Margaret Rose and certainly won’t be the last. Although I found the beginning of the book a little slow and it was difficult for me to connect with the “reality show” ambient the characters are immersed in, at some point, everything started to connect, and I was totally in the story and in the middle of the maelstrom of the show shooting. The characters have a little harsh backstory, from attraction at first sight to hating each other. Being the second book in the serie, I’d recommended reading it in other, but it’d be read as standalone. They are acquaintances, Cat, a PR workaholic who’s being dragged to work as a PA for her sister’s fiancé’s best friend, Winter in the shooting of a reality show. Winter is a Denmark prince, heir of the crown, who’s being living in a small town in the US in a way to escape the public eye scrutiny he’s being suffering since he was born. But, because of a supposed lack of support in his country, his parents force him to participate in a reality show whose object was to upper his popularity and find him a wife. While he’s suffering this hell of a deal, he orchestrated a vengeance plan against Cat, making her work for him as his PA. In this book we navigate between the two main characters’ fears and past traumas in a well balance writing style. Both are deep characters, with their flaws and the first impressions they project couldn’t be as far as the true reality is. This is the philosopher’s stone in this book, not only their capacity (and ours, as readers) to change the way we see each character, but also to apologize for being wrong. At the same time they are trying to overcome their fears, you can see how beautifully both of them open their self to the other. Tropes you can find in this book: - Hate to love - Black cat (not so black, after all)/grumpy (also not so grumpy) - Forbidden love - Forced proximity - Found family - Small town romance - Christmas romance - Secret relationship - He falls first and hard This book is an open-door book, with spicy scenes so full of tenderness. They are exceptionally well written and full of feelings (love, lust, fear…)❤️ 4/5⭐️ 2/5🌶️ I’ve received this book as an ARC and I’d like to thank Margaret Rose, her team and Love Notes PR for letting me read in advance this book and give my honest opinion about it. ❤️
I was blessed enough to have the opportunity to be an ARC reader for Royal Hearts by Margaret Rose.
This is the first book I have read by Margaret Rose. I loved the plotline of this book. The pacing of this book was so good. This book is about a Danish prince forced to be the bachelor of a dating show over the Christmas holiday. He chose to pick his own PA over the one from the Crown. When sparks fly in different directions, what's to happen? The characters in this story were so well written.
The FMC is Cat. She is head strong and a workaholic. Her life has been built around what's next for her clients, but when it comes to taking care of herself, it is pushed off. Through different things that have happened in life, she has to learn to let people in. Cat does grow quite a lot throughout this book. The MMC is Winter. He has had a hard life. Constantly trying to stay out of the spotlight, his parents have other plans. Winter is so sweet once he opens up to people. Winter went through a good amount of growth also. I loved the side characters, especially the boys. They were funny and provided great advice when needed.
This book is written in dual POV. Each chapter is either a time jump or a continuation of the scene. Margaret Rose writing style was different. She did a lot of descriptive writing for the first 25% to 35% of the book compared to dialog. After that, it is basically more dialog heavy. I really liked this style of writing. The pacing was perfect for a book that spanned about 3.5 months.
I totally recommend this book. If you are looking for a funny yet cozy holiday romance, that's a quick, easy read, pick it up, and you will not be disappointed. If you have not read the first book in this series, you are not kissing touch. You do meet the couple of the first book, and some things that happened in the book are referenced, but you won't deel.lost at all. I will be going back, though, because I would love to read Frannie and John's story. Can't wait to see what else Margaret Rose has to offer.
Book: Royal Hearts Author: Margret Rose Rating: 4.5 ⭐
👑R E V I E W👑
I was a bit nervous at first because it started a little slower than normal. Luckily for me, I started this while in a major fight with my partner and it forced me to read this nearly in one sitting.
I’m such a sucker for anything to do with royalty, especially during the holiday seasons.
Cat is a workaholic, for the PR firm she works for, all for the shiny co-owner title and of course the pro-bono PR budget. Finally getting what she’s been working so hard for, comes with a royal pain in the butt, in the form of his royal hotness Winter.
Winter feeling slighted and used, devises a plan to get Cat back for a PR stunt where she uses his name for gain. Already having a less than ideal relationship with the crown and what it brings, Winter demands that she PA’s for the American reality show that will help him find a wife.
Bring in the slow, yet sizzling burn.
The character dynamic is the perfect, enemies-to-lovers. The way Winter intends on being a Grinch towards Cat soon fizzles to him falling head over heels.
Margret Rose had me swooning! Relishing in the feisty quarrels between Cat and Winter, to drooling at how Winter lusts over Cat.
Royal Hearts was the perfect holiday rom-com and leaving me feeling whole after this season Hallmark films left me feeling let down.
If you’re on the hunt for something witty, swoon-worthy, leaving you kicking your feet like a little school girl. I highly recommend you read this. Plus his doggo is the goodest of girls.
Just a note: This is book 2 of a series, and while you can read as a standalone, it is worth reading the first book for a little more background into the history of Cat and Winter. While Margaret does a great job of filling in gaps, I feel as though I could have gotten into their story more with a read through of book one. Regardless, it was still incredible!
