When Lottie is given the chance to save her family farm, she takes it. The catch? She must marry a man she’s never met. It seems a small price to pay for her family’s security. What appears to be a simple plan is anything but when Emmett, a smooth talking speakeasy bartender, enters the picture. This is a very fast paced story, with complex characters, and many plot twists. It grabbed me from the start, and I couldn’t put it down!

Absolutely LOVE this book! Would recommend highly. It was a great stand alone book and a fast read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and 🌶️🌶️ 🥟 (really steamy🥟 and a few🌶️ scenes)

This book is Mobsters lite. I’m not a big mafia romance reader but this gives you just enough to make it thrilling and entertaining. this book had some of the best twist and turns! And I like the banter between the characters.

I lovedddd Emmett, Lottie was great too!
I don’t give five stars often but when I do it’s because they hit me right in the feels.

This was such a fun and unique mafia/historical romance! It was fast paced and had some wonderful twists and turns. I do wish the book would have been a little longer with more detail about each of the characters' pasts. I think a lot more could have been fleshed out in that area to make me feel even more attached to the characters. Also, the ending felt a little rushed to me after everything the MCs had been through- it almost seemed too convenient. I'm glad I picked this up though before meeting this author at Booked Eau Claire in a few weeks! I'm interested to see what she writes in the future!

Oooh Emmett…so dreamy! Tabitha’s debut novel is a fast-paced story that keeps you wanting more, with a relatable MC and super sexy ‘bad boy’. I loved the mafia/speakeasy vibe and felt like I was right there in the story. Can’t wait to read more from her!

Please read ***TW*** before reading!

This was a good read with a nice story. It did have quite a bit of spicy 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️scenes which were not my thing, but it would be great for readers who enjoy smut.

I do have to say it kept me engaged the entire time (minus the spicy scenes (those I skipped)), so it was a very fast read. I think this one could be categorized as a Mafia Romance given what Emmett does for a living. I enjoyed Lottie's personality a lot. She was a badass!!!

If the author hadn't done such a great job with the twist at the end, then I would have given it 3 stars. But I was not expecting it AT ALL!!! Such betrayal!! For this reason, I gladly give it 4 stars 😊

I do have to say it had quite a good number of grammatical errors and sometimes it was hard to decipher what was written. I think a little more proofreading would be great to make this read better! But overall, good book!! 😊

I picked this book because the cover was amazing and the title was intriguing. I went into it not knowing anything about the story, just the way I like it.
It was really easy to get to know the characters. They were written very well. The plot was clever and although I'm not usually into historical fiction, it had that vibe, and I was there for it.
I would have given a five star review for the story and character development alone, but there were a bunch of misspelled words (maybe the kindle version didn't get uploaded with the edits?) and I really wished the tone/voice of the book had a Speakeasy/1930's feel.
It has a few spicy moments and a bit of a love triangle which are always fun for me.
All in all an easy read with a major "what?" moment during the climax.

Whoa

This book started out so so strong, but then went so wrong.

The plot line gets twisted up a lot, there’s grammatical errors (multiple per page) that takes you out of the story, not a seem less error and while I usually don’t take that into account this one’s pretty bad.

Nicky, little Nicky has changed as a character several times from this demure male working a farm to a main part of a smuggling cartel

It’s like the whole book was thrown together without crossing T’s and dotting I’s

I found myself googling to fact check a lot as the era is suppose to be 1930’s but reads more like late 80’s-00’s

All in all I ended up not finishing and DNFing at 78

Fantastic

This book is a dream for a girl like me who loves this time in history and also happens to come from a small WI town.
Lottie and her gaggle of men is one crazy, exciting, don't put the book down kind of ride. Lottie shows us that there is more to women of that decade than just being an average housewife. She truly is an amazing character. This author really knew how to keep me on the edge of my seat, definitely a book I couldn't put down!

This concept had SO much potential - but spelling errors, run-on sentences, and grammatical errors really pulled me out of it. I expect that not all historical romances are going to be true to the time but the characters felt like they were pulled out of the modern world and tossed into prohibition era America. The way they talked, interacted, dressed, and behaved in society did not scream 1929. Overall, I am disappointed in the execution when the potential was there.

What a fantastic read! I had to pace myself so I didn’t finish the book in one single reading. The only downside is that there isn’t a second book (yet??). Great job Tabitha! I can’t wait to read more!

I love a period piece! The roaring 20s. My heart!
Emmett was frustrating and swoony all in one!
Carrots (adorable nickname) and her confidence were chefs kiss! Don’t let anybody make you feel less than because of your size! Love it!
That twist….the jaw drop I had when reading followed by “no he’a not!” And then “I knew it!!!” 🤣🤣
Anyway I do feel like the end was a bit rushed and I would have liked to actually see it play out more but loved the book nonetheless.
