In this mesmerizing conclusion to the Unremembered trilogy, Sera will fight those who have broken her.
After returning to the Diotech compound and receiving a successful memory transplant, Seraphina is now living a happy life with another synthetically engineered human like herself, with whom she is deeply in love. She has no recollection of Zen. But the nagging feeling that something is missing from her life continues to plague her. Diotech's newest product is about to be revealed—a line of genetic modifications that will allow people to live longer, fight disease, and change any unfavorable physical attribute they desire.
As more secrets are revealed, more enemies are uncovered, and the reality of a Diotech-controlled world grows closer every day, Sera and Zen must find a way to destroy the company that created her, or they’ll be separated forever.

I don't know what to say. This was really good and I'm sad that I've come to an end of another great series.I loved all the characters, the story, the little twists...but that ending killed me.I won't say anything else because I'm afraid I'll spoil it and trust me,you don't want to be spoiled when it comes to this trilogy. If I could describe this book in just one word it would probably be...bittersweet.
Favourite quotes:
“This is what Dr. A is trying to prevent, you know? This kind of weakness.” Sevan pulls back the tent flap and guides me through it. “Dr. Alixter is trying to prevent a lot of things, Sera, but human weakness isn’t one of them.”
“He didn’t love me,” I murmur to the dirt. “I was just a means to an end.” Klo’s grasp slips from my arm and I feel the blood rushing back to my fingers.Anger flashes on his face but it’s quickly replaced by a sad, withering smile. “That’s the most cowardly thing you’ve said yet.”
Wow. This was quite the ending to the series. I don't want to give anything away because there are a lot of layers and revelations and I refuse to ruin it.
Just know that everything I needed answered was given and while the ending wasn't what I was expecting, I loved it.
Talk about a fantastic ending to a series. Brody has really given us an incredible, emotionally-laden conclusion that winds things up perfectly.
In this third and final book, Sera has changed dramatically. We knew this would happen at the end of the second book; it's no surprise that she's returned home and has somewhat reverted to the person she originally was. The world has been established with only a few missing details, one being the ultimate goal of the evil corporation. There are a few new characters and relationships, but it's the story that really changes more than the players.
Aaaannnnd . . . enter the complicated love triangle. This one was relatively well done because the protagonist is so sympathetic. We feel her pain and are as conflicted as she is.
Sera was a frustrating character in this book. But understandably so; the story is set up so that we're supposed to be frustrated with her. She doesn't behave out of character but rather as expected within the confines of her situation. It's the situation and the way it resolves that is the thing that made me crazy. Sera is smart, conflicted, wary, driven. She's logical. She evolves naturally through to the end; things never felt forced or contradictory in terms of the way she handled a situation. Her choices may not always have been good, but they were certainy understandable.
Zen is absent for the first two-thirds of the book. And when he makes his entrance, boy is he changed! Brody was expert at keeping the tension very taut here. She danced the tightrope of heartbreak while never allowing us to lose our hope in the romance. To do this while placing Zen in the center of the action was really well done. That's good writing.
Kaelen is the real change here. He is a completely different character than in the second book, almost but not quite to the edge of believability. Brody maintains some thread of a connection to the character we initially met through his devotion to the cause. The distinction between he and Sera is well-established. And their romance is again, just at the edge of believability. Brody plays with the nature vs. nurture idea here very well.
Even the bad guy shows another facet, making him much more complicated. Alixter is still a horrible character but at least we understand some semblance of why. Not that it matters, really. He's bad enough for us to still not forgive him.
In some ways the plot was underdeveloped in spots; the ending, while not forced, could be seen as rushed. But those elements that Brody gave a lighter hand could easily be addressed in a novella. There were no real lags in the action and things moved along at a good pace. The ending was nothing short of spectacular.
On audio, the book was narrated by Julia Whelan. She's an excellent, talented narrator. For me, this was made even better by increasing the narration speed to twice as fast. The dialogue and characters were oddly enhanced by doing this. It didn't sound unnatural at all.
This is a great series. It deserves any and all hype it receives because of it's diversity within a basic plot line. There's a lot to enjoy here. I loved it.
I'm sitting here trying to find the right words, the right sentences, the right ways to describe and portray how invigorating this book is and how grateful i am to the author to the characters and to the plot in general. As a reader i am grateful. As a writer i am even more grateful. I read more and more books everyday and i learn something diff from each book. From this series i learned that you don't have to use big foreign words to link sentences and actions together. I learned that if u stick with ur idea, give it time to nurture it, to let it grow into a vision then all will be well at the end. And a writer i learned that alot of research had to be made to make this story believable. Ofc i always knew that but this series like the TMI series had so many terms and references that it made the story seem like an actual story.
Like all stories, you get sucked into a diff world, live the lives of diff people and lose yourself in the process. This book did the same but the thing about this series is, i was lost even when i was back on earth. I've never experienced a series that had me chained to the next chapter like there's am invisible magnetic pull. The reading was smooth and it never got boring for me. Reading this was as smooth as oil or damp skin ( lol ) ahhhh what am trying to say is that i love this series too much!
i love how profound it is... I love the character development... I love the answered questions, questions we had from the beginning... I love how Diotech grew to be something more than just the company that stole Sera's memories... i love how even though its fiction there are some elements that can be learned from it and there are some elements that we can easily see in our reality today, so much has been derived from the real world.
XXXXXXXXX
Now lets talk details. Can we take a moment to swoon over the seemingly dashing Zen? Who knew that their first meet in this book wouldn't be filled with longing stares or heart felt poems?! I love how the author here changed him made it seem that he is in fact older and miserable and ahhh. This was not the predictable reunion. He built a tough exterior trying to protect himself from the heart but we still saw that he deeply cared about Sera.
I loved that even though Cody is dead the author brought a semblance of him. His great grandson. We still had that connection to Sera's old life.
I was wondering from the start about Klo. Why was he acting so suspicious? I loved that he ended being a part of Jenza's team!
The interview on the day of the Unveiling was spot on. I truly loved everything about it. The floating cameras, the camouflage thingies that stick to ur clothes, the hostess, Dr.A's cool demeanour and the way he spoke eloquently and charasmatically and just the entire thing was .....
I knew Zen would send a question to Moshima! SZ1609 !!!!! I knew it I freaking susjabsftebggucndnfifkfnnj!!!!!
The whole camp that belonged to the riots reminded me of The Host ( the movie i haven't read the book ) only because Sera was in a camp full of riots and they all hate her and Zen who is supposedly her loving boyfriend is wary of her and fighting an internal battle.
Oh my L. ... Did you expect Sera to be really a part of Rio's genetics? That she truly shared a DNA? That was truly something. Seriously i loved that plot twist. And it serves to show u how the author is creative in that aspect. And it just totally makes sense now! Why Rio is so in love with her and taken with her as a daughter! I love Rio so much why did he have to diiieeeeeeeeeee??????
Ohhhhh how Sera was always creeped out by that tree! Now we know why. Poor Seriana :'( she just wanted to spend time with her daddy...
I felt like Dr.A 's fall-down was well deserved and "poetic justice" comes to mind.
What did you guys think of the ending?
I still have the unanswered question of Dane and Dr.A's relationship status.
Oh one more thing to point out!
Remember how Sera mentioned that The Providence is an entity that is hiding in plain sight and that we will never be able to see them but we can destroy them by eradicating their fuel, their power? She did that at the end as we know but I loved that we don't know what happened exactly to The Providence. No mention of them at all. Which brings us back to what Sera said that we will never see them we will never know them b we can extinguish their fire.
Jessica Brody, thank you. I love you.

Definitely my least favourite in the series. Sera's constant "your lying!!1!" was super repetitive and annoying. The ending just went by so quickly and was also a bit of a let down for the characters you cared about, and pretty open, as well.
After my 3-star experience with Unforgotten, I was a little nervous about Unchanged, but my sister assured me that this book would not disappoint. So, I took her word for it and dove right in -- she was right! Unchanged was pretty damn awesome.
What I've really enjoyed about this series is the progression of setting. That might sound weird, but some series take me to new places I wasn't wanting, etc. This series has taken me on a wild ride of fascinating discoveries! It was a LOT of fun getting to see their version of the future, complete with slang and swear words that actually felt *right* for once!
It has also been a treat to watch how Seraphina has grown, changed, and learned about herself throughout this entire series. The way this book begins -- and progresses -- is just plain brilliant on Brody's part, imo. You get to see so many possibilities, so many different sides to people and I absolutely love that!
The resolutions at the end were some surprises as well, which is usually a great thing. I still feel a bit undecided on some of the final outcomes, which is why I didn't rate this higher than 4 stars. But still. This was a VERY solid book and a GREAT ending to the series!!!
Can anyone tell me about Seraphina and Sariana. I'm really confused. Does Zen love Sera or is it Sariana that he loves. I'm highly confused when this two gurls are narrated. Especially in the last chapter when a new girl is being born out of the lab. It's said Sariana instead of Sera. It confuses me.
Initial Impressions 2/14/15: 4.25 - 4.5 stars -- Wow, what a really, really great finish to this series from Jessica Brody! I really just loved so many things about this book. It was incredible how much this series grew and evolved throughout the course of the trilogy. I was REALLY impressed with everything that transpired in UNCHANGED. Lots of things I didn't see coming, lots of great character development, lots of action. Thank you for such an entertaining trilogy, Jessica! I had so much fun with this.
Full review as originally posted on The Book Addict's Guide: Thank you, Jessica Brody, for a great finish to this trilogy! It's been so much fun reading this series and I've been absolutely impressed with how much it's grown over time. I had the pleasure of interviewing Jessica for the Unchanged Blog Tour and what I thought was really interesting was that she said she sort of wrote each book as a stand-alone but each of them were connected and I really liked this concept! A lot of time went by in between picking up one book to the next since I read each one right around its pub date so it was actually really great to be able to pick up the next book and not feel totally lost because I couldn't remember what happened previously. (UNCHANGED had a nice little refresher too.)
The overall concept of UNCHANGED was so interesting. It's no spoiler to say that when the book opens, we sort of re-meet Sera... After all of the progress that she made in UNFORGOTTEN, she's once again a slave to Diotech's mission although she believes in it willingly. This realization and what it means for her (and Zen) is just heartbreaking but it was also so much fun to root for Sera the whole book to wake up and smell the coffee and to take down the man!
Naturally, this causes complications for the romance. (BIG ones.) Not only is Sera back in with Diotech, but she feels connected with her "print mate" Kaelen. At the same time, she still remembers Zen but is convinced he had brought her over to the dark side (the events that occurred in UNFORGOTTEN). I'll admit there were times in UNREMEMBERED when I wasn't quite convinced what was so great about Zen and then really started to like him in UNFORGOTTEN and I started to totally understand -- the UNCHANGED sort of shattered those pieces! (In a good way?) It brought about SO much more emotion and I got incredibly invested in everything that was going on! It really helped bring out so many more sides of each character as well. We get to dig a lot deeper into the minds of Sera, Zen, Kaelen, and even Dr. A!
UNCHANGED was a thrilling conclusion to this series! There was a whole lot of action and lots of great developments that kept pushing the plot forward. I really loved getting to know the characters so much better in this book and it was definitely the one I was most invested in plot-wise and emotionally! The Unremembered Trilogy was so entertaining and I was so happy to read such a well-put together science fiction collection! Everything got so much more detailed in each book and I just really love how it all came together in the end.
What an astoundingly epic finale. It was pretty awesome even with the few disappointments. I love sci-fi with some mystery and lots of twists. I also like it when a character has to overcome brainwashing or a secret organization. What’s really great about this book is that we get to see the time period that Sera and Zen are from.
2117 is a world with hoverpods and other things that hover with magnets, synthetic meat, genetic modification and nanotechnology. Gas power is obsolete, as well as today’s standard medical equipment since they have nanoscanners. 2117 is not a post-apocalyptic world or a world with an oppressive government. It’s not truly a dystopia, but there is Diotech. And Diotech want to control people and they are using Sera and Kaelen to launch a line of products that can make people better, yet control them. Dr. Maxxer has told Sera this. And Sera doesn’t believe it.
Unchanged starts off with Sera now thinking that Diotech is good and that she loves Kaelen and she’s got all her memories back. She feels guilt forever betraying the objective and she think that Zen never loved her. We know that’s not true. Zen definitely loved her and Sera’s just being brainwashed with some sort of memory coding or something. It just takes her time to see the light again. There’s just not enough Zen in this book. I read the novella before this and one was from Zen’s POV. I suggest reading the novella before this final book. Anyway, Zen doesn’t come back into the picture till more that halfway through the book. I’m not a big Kaelen fan to say the least.
The things that Sera finds out about Diotech and herself make this book awesome, but the ending resolution was not what I had hoped for. I’m still giving the book five stars because I’m a loyal fan and loved the previous books. The plotting that this series took must have been a massive undertaking and I think the author pulled it off even if there were a few bumps in the road.
If you haven’t read Unremembered, then you really should. It’s becoming on of my favorite sci-fi series. You should read it if you like any of the following: Altered by Jennifer Rush, Renegade by J.A. Souders, Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi, False Memory by Dan Krokos, Crewel by Gennifer Albin, Maximum Ride by James Patterson.
Cover Art Review: The girl in the cover looks more like Sera. I love the blurry effect and the title being sharp and clear.
Some of this review contains mild spoilers. I will warn you when you get there.
What a stunning end to the trilogy! I literally could not put the book down! This is by far my favorite book of the series. It is also the one that broke my heart the most. In this book you can definitely see Jessica Brody's writing style become more mature. There are so many new characters and so much world building--it's amazing she got it all into one book. I think I especially like the introduction of so many new characters. Instead of "this doctor" and "that scientist" these people actually have names. Names are so important. When you give someone a name you are endearing them. Instead of being just a random face in the crowd, they become a real person, with a family and people who care about them. I think once you read the book you'll understand what I mean. I also love the character development. I can't get into it too much because of spoilers, but I think she really portrayed certain characters really well, based on the kind of situations they've been through. I will say this: a couple of characters' personalities did change. Although I was devastated by the changes, I actually love the fact that she did that. Overall, the book was really good and definitely worth the massive book-hangover I got after finishing it.
NOW HERE COMES THE SPOILERS!!!
The ending of this book was very good. I wont say exactly what happens, but I will say that I had a lot of mixed feelings. I understood why she ended it that way, and I like the fact that she did. I'm just sad that it did end the way it did. So yeah, that's it! Like I said earlier, this book is amazing and I definitely recommend it. I hope this review was helpful!! Goodbye!!
I have been a fan of this series for a while. So much so I have the ARC of Unremembered. To say the least, I love this series. Going into the last book of the series, Unchanged, I wasn't sure what to expect. I knew that Jessica Brody had a lot of storylines to wrap up and leave the readers pleased with the ending of such a great series. Well Jessica, you did it! Unchanged was an amazing conclusion to the Unremembered series. There are so many twists and turns that will leave you shocked. I hated when I had to put the book down because I wanted to see how the series ended. It ended perfectly! I am very happy with the book and very happy with the series.
A highly satisfying end to a fast-paced, romantic, edge-of-your-seat trilogy. I highly recommend binge-reading all three back to back for the ultimate thrill ride. :)
Book 1 got 2 stars. Book 2 got 2 stars. And book 3.. 4? I almost thought it was impossible, but this one actually ended up being the best book. I assumed the worst.
One thing that definitely made it loads better, was that the annoying, madly in love, love triangle feelings all over the place voice of the MC was gone. Okay yeah, we still had this messed up love triangle happening, but it actually stopped being the plot. It was put on a back burner, and that's what made the story start off good. As for the story line, it developed in a good way, in a way that actually made me curious to keep reading. Though there were a lot of things that looked to be straight up the same as the first book of The Hunger Games, the story took an original turn and ended in an interesting way that made me actually take a moment to process it after I finished the book. I'm actually kind of impressed that I ended up enjoying this last book. If only the first two were as good as this one, then this would have been a better series.
AHHHH i think i'll leave three stars for this book and for the series
i was expecting a boring volume, and at the end, if we forget that Seraphina annoyed me even if it wasn't because of her, well it was very very cool?
i'm not disappointed yet! Lyzender if i could marry you i would marry you now. try to find someone more dedicated than him, just try! Kaelen, his fault was only to be compatible with Seraphina LMAOO
and i'm not going to talk about Seraphina, because tbh i didn't really like her. she's boring and that's it, but i want to say that it's not her fault..
the ending is surprising! and not bad at all for once, i really liked it a lot! Jessica did a good job <3
( J’AI ENFIN RENDUE LA TRILOGIE À LA BIBLIOTHÈQUE MDRRRR…. )
This book was SO GOOD. It got a bit slow in the middle with the tour, and I stopped connecting with the characters for a bit, but the beginning was good and the ending was INCREDIBLE. Such a well-done and unique ending with some really profound statements and messages on humanity and enduring love and genetics not defining who you are. Beautiful. I didn’t agree with a comment made about self-harm by one of the side characters, and it did get a bit annoying having Sera brainwashed for so long, but that’s ok. She was meant to be. Also, it just showed that I wanted her and Zen to get together, who I really felt for in this book. Poor Zen.
This has to be my favorite book out of all of them. The ending shocked me and I can hardly get over it. Jessica Brody's writing is wonderful. I love this book with all my heart.

Unchanged has been an interesting end to this epic journey that Jessica Brody has taken us on. From Seraphina's escape from the lab she was created in at Diotech Industries with the boy she loves, Zen, to an adventure through time to stay out of the grasps of the boy Diotech created to be her perfect match, Kaelen, and now, to having her memory's altered to make every emotion she has had for Zen & her escape seem like one very big mistake. Although not every moment was as action packed or heart pounding as I like in a Suspenseful story, it has been thoroughly thought out & planned perfectly to make for the perfect ending.
In the final book to the series that started with Unremembered, Sera has let herself be captured by Diotech for a chance to save the boy she loves. The transession gene that allows humans to time travel also destroys their bodies from the inside out & the only thing that can save Zen is a blocker that she can only get from Dr. Alixter. So after all her running, she is back. The first part of the book, which is setup into 4 different parts, is all about the year it has been for her since she returned to Diotech. To Sera, her adventures with Zen were all a mistake. The results of a girl that had been tricked by a boy who was only trying to use her. Dr. Rio shows up from time to time as the groundskeeper, but he is no longer the same person he was. His memories have been stolen & he is nothing but a shell of his former self. Kaelen is now the only love she thinks about. Seeing as how he was created to be her "Print Mate," a manufactured scientific version of a Soul Mate, she sees nothing in him but her equal.
As odd things begin to happen, Sera is consistently brought to the memory labs to erase what she witnesses, so not to upset or confuse her from Diotech's ultimate goal. The Objective, as it is called by Dr. A, is to release a product line to the world, that sells advanced DNA coding to make people as special as Sera & Kaelen. They are to be unveiled in a series of Press Junkets on a tour around the US. They have taken a year to get her ready for this tour, but it only takes a second for 1 word uttered by Rio in a chance passing for her to start doubting anything... Sariana. Sera uses her datapad to search for the word & finds out about the child that Rio lost 3 years ago when she fell from a tree & broke her neck.
Different actions lead Sera to a data cube buried beneath the bench where she & Zen would hide secret messages for each other. She can not open the file on Diotech property, because they monitor everything she does, so she waits until the tour begins & opens it in a hotel, thinking she has 1 month until they will check her memories again after the tour is over. It is a message from Zen, 3 months after she left him in 2032. He looks unkempt & distraught without her. Obviously he could not follow her, because he no longer had the transession gene, so how did he get the cube to their spot in the first place? Questions keep piling up for her & she isn't sure what to think. Before she even gets to hotel, she witnesses Kaelen attack 3 paparazzi who are hidden trying to get pictures of them before the tour starts. It is like a switch has been flipped & he brutally beats 2 of them to death. This event along with everything else happening, it is only confusing her more.
When she is called by Dr. A soon after to have her memories checked, she comes to the realization that they are going to see that she has kept the data cube a secret & she is going to lose everything she has learned.
What is she going to do?
I don't want to give you the whole story, because there is so much to give. So much happens that I can't even do it justice by listing it all. There is a plethora of foreshadowing, an undercover plot, a fanatical religious cult, & a lot of backstories that explain the reasoning behind everything that has happened so far. In my opinion, every question I had from the first 2 books is answered in this one.
As of August of 2014, it was announced that Unremembered, the book that started the trilogy, will be heading to the big screen. It is being produced by the people who brought you The Vampire Academy, Zero Dark Thirty, & Life of Pi.

Jessica Brody's Unchanged was one of the hardest books I've had to read this year. And I'm not saying that it was in anyway a bad read, I'm just saying the events were hard to swallow! It was very emotional on so many different levels...I struggle to form coherent sentences. There are still so many questions I have, but at the same time, I feel like I know the answers.
At the end of Unforgotten, we were all feeling the pains. Sera has saved Zen's life, only to leave him and go back to Diotech in order to continue to keep him safe. We learn right away, Sera was changed yet again, given modified memories. Though at the same time, they were the same memories, she was just given different feelings about them. Dr. Alixter was truly a monster in this series, what he did and continues to do to poor Sera, was disgusting.
In her new reprogrammed state, Sera loves Kaelen just as she was always meant to. They live an almost happy life. Yet we readers know better. Dr. A plans to finally show the world what they become, they can be perfect people just like Sera and Kaelan and they embark on a 12 city tour to show the world just that. Only, it's right as this tour kicks off that danger strikes and Sera is kidnapped by what looks like a group of terrorists.
For a good chunk of the book, we never get to see Zen. We only get the occasional memory rehash from Sera and even then, it's only to have her be disgusted with herself in allowing herself to be tricked by Zen. It was disheartening, because I had come to love the relationship between the two. And when they finally do get their face to face meet...it wasn't what I hoped for. Sera has been irrevocably changed, yet Zen believes the old Sera is still in her somewhere.
Zen and his new friends plan to take Diotech down for good. Destroy everything that they are, so they can no longer ruin and rule the lives of people. But naturally, there are a few hiccups.
I think what made this book so challenging for me was that Sera was no longer Sera. She's not the girl we've come to know from Unremembered, but that's to be expected since she was literally changed. Given new memories and new feelings. It's almost sick to think that that technology can exist. Even if you are an "artificial" human.
This next little paragraph might be considered "spoilery", so read it at your own risk. Though I didn't think it too spoilery if you really think about it.
What was also a little hard to deal with was the fact that Zen had a new girlfriend. Though at the same time, we know that it's always been S + Z = 1609. I actually felt sorrier for the new girl, because it's that feeling, you know when you see a couple broken up and how they are meant to be together, despite another one moving on. We've seen this countless of times in other books and movies and TV shows. I didn't hate Xaria, I actually felt bad for her because I knew without knowing, that she would be the one to get hurt. And the lack of mentioning her after a certain point in the story only leads further credence to that feeling.
The end was probably the most shocking though! I was expecting something big and we got that and then some. I was sort of making speculations that kinda led to the ending we got, but I was definitely missing a few details. Why the ending did bring a tear to mind, it also brought a smile to my face. It's definitely an ending of mixed feelings.
Overall Unchanged was a spectacular ending to an amazing trilogy! I would love to see where the characters go past the ending...but that's usually something left to the reader's imagination! If you're looking for a unique Sci-Fi series for Young Adults, then the Unremembered trilogy is simply perfect!
I DONT KNOW!I DONT KNOW ANYTHING ANYMORE!!! WHAT IS MY NAME!!!!!! God I don’t even know where to start I mean thiS BOOK was too much and with that ending I just ugh! Okay so the first book was heh meeh it was catchy, interesting plot and Zen was basically the only reason i read the second one because i kinda hated Sera.Seriously i never liked the girl on the first book and it just got worse on the second one.I found her annoying with all that ‘Ohh who can I trust’ crap.Like trust the hot guy who’s clearly in love with you duh! Anyway like I said it got worse on the second book when that Kaelan dude showed up, btw I never liked him either. Let the record show I fell IN LOVE with Zen since the beginning and reading about him in the 3d book I swear just broke my heart. Every time someone talked to Sera about his pain like 'He always loved you’ or 'Set him free’ i just wanted to go inside the book somehow and hug him tight. So i basically spent the entire book waiting for something good to happen to Zen thats how much his pain was…Idk visible. I liked the fact that at first he was cold with Sera when they saw each other again after so long but clearly that didn’t last how could it? At first when I started the 3d book I was convinced Sera was going to end up with Zen but near the ending I literally started screaming bc the girl just didn’t seem to understand she was all about the Objective-.- Like i said i didn’t give a ducking crap about the girl i just wanted Zen to finally be happy and he was happy with her so. Now lets talk about the ending.I LOVED IT I LOVED IT I LOVED IT FinaLLY sera did the right thing( took her long enough) and just that sentence 'Love me in another world’ and then she created another girl like Rio’s daughter, like herself for Zen to literally love in another world without Diotech I just I don’t even know. Its just so perfect who would have thought that? Like you may notice this was basically a review about how much I loved the character of Zen(guilty) so very quickly: -Loved how Cody’s character wasn’t entirely vanished and his grand nephew something joined forces against Diotech -Looved the twist that Kaelan was created after Dr A whatever that was(Also Kaelan had to die sorry not sorry) -Sera had to die too I liked her towards the ending but all that she was feeling all that she was inside was too much for her -Another favorite character was Rio loved the man If you want to have absolutely no idea about who you are after you finish a book this is so the one:)
There is a beautiful thing about trilogies. This trilogy is one of them.
I am grateful enough to have been along on this ride with Sera and Zen. From Unremembered to this brillant, fantastic ending that is Unchanged.
Unchanged proves that there is hope in everything. How endings can be reached with absolute genius. As a reader, I truly appreciate all the hard work put into stringing ideas into stories. Into words. Writing is no simple task; but the Unremembered trilogy proves that nothing is impossible.
From the start of the trilogy, Unremembered, we got to see the love blossom between Sera and Zen. Their love is truly strong and completely unique. When I read Unchanged, you could really see the distinct difference between the love between Sera and Kaelen as to Sera and Zen. Zen and Sera's story made me cry, laugh and make me love them even more.
Kaelen, created for Sera, but not unlimited true love like Zen's.
And what more can I say about Zen? He's truly a hero, one of the strongest characters who has the greatest and biggest hearts of all. Because of his love for Sera, and I am truly in awe of him. He never ever truly gave up. No matter how many times Diotech tried, Zen was always there in Sera's heart. Now that is loyalty and faith which cannot be beaten. That is the true meaning of love. One kind of unique love which is shown in Sonnet 116. Beautiful. Unbreakable. That is what Sera and Zen represent. How love is an ever-fixéd mark. I fell for Zen like Sera did. And that is all that matters. Thank you Jessica Brody for writing this intriguing trilogy.
Wow. Okay, I really wasn’t expecting that ending. That came as quite a shock and I’m still trying to process it.
This book might just be my favourite of the trilogy. I finally get the romance between Sera and Zen. Too late though? You’ll have to read it and see! I don’t know what it was about this book that finally made me fall in love with their love, but I did. And I’m officially back on team Zen (though, I still like Kaelen).
The story was good and captivating. Sera is really quite different in this book. In fact, all three of the main characters (Sera, Zen, and Kaelen) are different in this book than in the others. The story had changed them. Zen is tougher and harder and not the same hopeless romantic he once was. Kaelen has a dark side we hadn’t really seen before this book. And Sera has been manipulated to basically think the opposite of everything she knows – the truths are lies and the lies are truths.
I enjoyed this book and this series. But this book wins out of the three.
I've genuinely never been so devastated a plot end of a series before.
I just kept waiting...and waiting...and waiting for this book to make me AT THE VERY LEAST content with the plotline. Reading this was like constantly stabbing my heart because I simply hated every minute of Sera's hijacking. And then the author somehow twists the knife deeper in the end after she gets her memories back and like ???????
Mind you, I just finished this book ten minutes ago. But my head is still REELING and frankly I can't imagine myself ever accepting the end of this book. I'm so not okay right now and frankly what hurts the most is knowing that it's not like readers could feel content with just stopping at the second book. No, the author straight up wants us to FEEL THE PAIN. No happy ending, no closure, no satisfying tying up loose ends. My heart is broken, bro. If I don't find another book full of happy rainbow unicorns to immerse my heart in, I just might lose my head. I can't even tell you--the reader--to not read this. Cause this story is so darn good. But bro....... I'm not okay with this one, and I can't see how anyone else would be.

*My Thoughts*
Unchanged is the final installment in the Unremembered trilogy by author Jessica Brody. Synthetically engineered human Seraphina is back at Diotech having left Lyzender (Zen) behind in order to save his life. Once again, Dr. Alixter has plans for Seraphina and this includes yet another memory modification to make her forget about her "rebellion" phase when she ran away with Zen. Sera now feels nothing but hatred for Zen, while falling all over herself with Kaelen who is her "perfect" print mate. Print mate = soul mate in human terms. With Sera feeling guilty and happy for a second chance, Dr. Alixter's goal is almost complete.
The cool SF and time travel stuff continues in this book, while still bogged down by omg!romance drama. The relegation of Kaelen to weirdly violent and jealous side character was sad for me, especially with Zen being scarce and weird as well. I wish she and Kaelen had been siblings or something instead of a shoe-horned excuse for a love triangle.
The revelations overall are consistent and seem to pay off. The really interesting moral and social questions, though, seem to go unanswered. There are Nature vs Nurture themes that I wish had been explored more; Brody's winner seems to be Nature/DNA. (Even to the point of 'Sure; I can just love this person! They're made from the same DNA as parts of the person I previously loved and really it was those parts I loved to start with!'.)
Finally, though, I thought the ending was needlessly dramatic and didn't focus enough on the main character considering how narrow the viewpoint had been up to then.
This was my favorite book of the three in the whole trilogy. I never expected that on page 2 there would be a plit twist and she would get to keep all of her memories. It changed everything. I didn't like Kaelen from the beginning but as the author went on and described him, I grew attatched. But then Zen came along and I hated Kaelen all ovrr again. Throughout the whole story, I was rooting for Zera the entire time. Amd then there is the ending. I honestly have a love/hate relationship with this ending. I was so very sad and then in the 'epilouge' I was once again happy for everything turned out okay. I never would have expected it to end that way, but I'm okay with it. I needed closure and that is what happened and I couldn't be happier with the turn out.
I had so much beef with this book- it was very difficult to feel good about how this book went for me- kaelen is a difficult character to like because of the violence in this one. Also, the push for sex was very bothersome to me. Why are we pushing teens to have sex? It doesn’t add anything to the plot. And her constant comments against zen are frustrating (even though she’s been brainwashed, it’s still annoying). And it takes so long to find out what’s going on with zen- and when she sees him it’s just awkward and then she’s too quick to get passionate with him again.... and then there’s the end.... that was the worst. It kind of ruined the series for me.
