M. Malone is a NYT and USA TODAY bestselling author, a RITA® Award winner, and a member of RWA's Hall of Fame.
She lives with her husband and their two sons in the picturesque mountains of Northern Virginia even though she is afraid of insects, birds, butterflies and other humans.
Since starting her indie publishing journey she has sold over a million books and her titles have hit the NYT and USA Today bestseller lists more than a dozen times. She also holds a Master’s degree in Business from a prestigious college that would no doubt be scandalized at how she’s using her expensive education.
All I have to say is that M. Malone outdid herself with this one. I was absolutely blown away by Trent and Mara's story. It was sheer perfection. Every time I thought that I knew what was happening and where their story was going, she totally changed the course of the story on me. Yet, the story was masterfully told and so beautifully woven together. And the Epilogue in this one was absolute brilliance!!As the Alexander Family series has grown, each story has become more emotional, more engrossing and more masterful. This one may be her best yet, but we shall see, because she isn't done with this series yet, and I, for one, cannot wait for the next one.
The gorgeous and sexy Trent Townsend has been living a lie. He has been lying to his friends, family, the woman he loves, Marina "Mara" Simmons, and, most importantly, himself. However, despite all of the lies and the deceptions on Trent's behalf, I could not once bring myself to stop wishing for him and Mara to make it through the tangled web of deception that Trent spun for them. I wanted their HEA, because not once did I see Trent as a bad guy. He was broken to me. Did I want to smack him upside the head once or twice, or more?? Yes, but I understood why he thought he had to do what he did, and my heart absolutely broke for him. I especially understood his thinking after I met his family, a very interesting bunch indeed. And his friend Avery?? There are not enough words for me to speak of her...so I shall not!! UGH!! How much pain and sorrow can one man take before he starts to do things that he believes will protect his heart and sanity?
Mara, Mara, Mara...I LOVE HER!! What an absolutely strong and beautiful woman she is. Mara loves Trent with all of her heart, mind, body and soul. She was willing to go to the depths of her love for him to make sure that Trent knew just how much she supported him and loved him. She wanted him to know that they could work through anything, even after being subjected to his family!! LOL!! Her love for him was just that strong. She was willing to Say She Would...NO MATTER WHAT!! Yet, how many lies, omissions and half-truths can one woman take before she breaks and has to safeguard her own sanity and heart?
Umm...Matthew "Matt" Simmons...every girl needs a sexy as sin big brother like Matt. He is totally and one hundred percent in his sister's corner. I loved him for it. I loved his overprotectiveness, which included doing things that he may not have thought good himself, but knew would be in his sister's best interest in the long run. Go Matt!!
Besides giving us readers a beautifully written story on Trent and Mara, M. Malone also skillfully and artfully weaved the rest of the Alexander Family into the story, so that we were able to see how everyone interacts with each other and supports each other through trying times and good times. And to also show Trent that those who love you for you are there for you...UNCONDITIONALLY!! Although I do have to admit that there was one downside to this brilliant story, I didn't get enough of my gorgeous and hot as sin Nick Alexander in this one. LOL!! Anyway, Bravo M. Malone!! Bravo!! I shall be counting the days until your next book releases.
Secrets, lies, and love don’t mix and that is what Trent Townsend brings to the relationship with Mara Simmons. Mara is the gorgeous twin to Matt. She is a no non-sense kinda girl. She calls a spade a spade. She has worked for everything she has including the home she lives in. She got help with the down payment from her brother, which Trent didn’t like? Let me back up, you see Trent and Matt became roommates in college. One look at Mara and Trent was stunned and in love at first sight. He could not get enough of her. But, they were all just friends for a long time. Trent was known to be like the surfer dude, since that is why he picked that college and because of Mara… The first time Mara had seen Trent she knew he was totally different than any of the guys she ever dated or was interested in. She always caught him staring at her and with such a loving and caring way. He was always so fully engaged whenever they spoke that she always felt so special. It was an easy transition to falling in love with him. Then, when he asked her to marry him it felt right to her. Moving in together was what came natural after he asked her to marry him. But, then Trent’s father had a heart attack and you see Trent couldn’t tell the woman he loves after all these years that the story he told about his family and where they live was a lie. So, rather than take the time to tell her he chose to live a double life. You see at the same his older brother has a melt down and refuses to take the helm at the family business Townsend Industries. So, his father calls and tells him he can no longer run away from his responsibilities he has to run the business until he can do it. At the same time his brother’s family needs tending, his sister has a family, and can’t do anything. So, he tells more he has to travel for the company he works for, staying gone up to two weeks. Until the lies and secrets start to unwind. See what Mara and Trent do in this compelling saga of the Alexander’s. I give this 5 stars. Provided by Net Galley. I wanted to love Say You Will because I really liked Mara and Trent when we met them in earlier books in The Alexanders series. Unfortunately, I walked away from this novel disappointed.
In this story, we learn Trent walked away from his uber-wealthy family and friends and has been living a pretend life all the years he’s been best buds with Matt and in love with Mara. Upon discovering his lies, Mara is much more understanding than most women would have been. She quits her job, moves to New York, and lives in Trent’s other life as a way to understand why he had to walk away and lie to everyone.
There were too many side stories going on while they were in New York. The whole side story with Avery and Travis just didn’t seem to fit for me. It competed too much with the Tia side story, which, in my opinion, needed to be the focus of Trent’s past. We could easily have seen the tension between Trent and his brother James without throwing in a “who is Travis’ daddy” plot twist. I would have liked to read more about how Trent dealt with Tia’s death and the lasting effect that had on him, which he supposedly figured out in two pages of therapy.
I was also disappointed that we didn’t get a good look at how Trent’s friends felt about him deceiving them for so long. Matt was only involved in a couple of scenes and the Alexander boys never confronted Trent. Yes Matt was angry that Trent lied and hurt his sister, but was Matt hurt that his best bud lied and manipulated him all these years?
We never saw Mara reach out to her friends while she lived in New York, which I thought strange since she was such an integral part of their lives in the other books. I wish Mara and Trent had more interaction with the other characters we’ve grown to love in this series. I felt like they were thrown in at the end as an after-thought.
I did grow to admire Mara even more in this book. She is one of the wisest and strongest female characters I’ve read in a long time. But, overall, this didn’t feel like the same Trent and Mara we previously met.
From the beginning with Teasing Trent, Mara and Trent's attraction and love for each other has been very intriguing, exciting.... perfect. With the Alexander series these two have stuck around throughout each book but in Say You Will you finally get their whole story. Which is definitely far from perfect. Mara is such a strong character and is put to the ultimate test of keeping it together. I can always count on Minx to deliver the unexpected roller coaster of emotions, mystery and element of suspense. Of course with a touch of sexual tension. Like real life there are so many things to overcome in a relationship and the grass is truly greener where you water it. You will feel heartbroken for Mara, but the bond these characters have as a family is something you wish for. I cant help but fall even more in love with each book, I just can't get enough of all the Alexander characters so I will def. be looking forward to future books to read how Mara and Trent carry on with the family and new characters to come. If you're wondering, you do not have to read the whole Alexander series to know whats going on although you are missing out if you choose not to. I do recommend Teasing Trent, it's a novella but it gives you a taste of where it all starts with Trent and Mara.
M. Malone has done it again! You will never have a dull moment with this book. With each book you see the characters grow and her writing style just keeps getting better. We were first introduced to Mara & Trent in the novella, Teasing Trent. We’ve had a chance to see their relationship grow in the background of the other books in the series, but in Say You Will, OMG you see how things are not always what they seem. Trent has not only been living a lie since college but it’s starting to consume him. Mara is a true ride or die female and hangs on as long as she can. Even though the lies keep coming, the twist and turns will amaze you, they both find a way to start over. I was emotionally involved from beginning to end. The characters draw you in and you can relate to the turmoil Mara feels in deciding if she can trust her man. M Malone surprises me with every book. I’m hooked on The Alexander’s!
This book is for anyone looking for; sex, lies, crying, overly protective brothers, dirty talking moms, more lies, stuck up sisters, THOT (That Hoe Over There), and a roller coaster of emotions.
Trent he can overreact when his woman gets hurt, "Trent took one look at her hand and paled. He barreled past Penny, and grabbed her by the arm. "What did you do? What the hell did you do?" He pulled her against him and when he did, she could feel that he was trembling." He's also one aggressive man when it comes to his girl and naughty time, "tell me you're mine," he growled against her neck, the sound one of desperate longing." He knows how to give compliments, "Trent pushed her hair out of the way, clearing the path for his tongue to find the curve of her collarbone. "You look best in nothing at all. So you can take all that stuff back to the effing store if you want." What he lacks is knowing what to do with Mara in his life in NY so Mara of course she's not afraid to let him know how she feels, "she shrugged but the way she didn't look up when she did it made him think it mattered. A lot. "Just that she seems to be at all the family events. She's there and I'm not. Shouldn't it be the other way around?" I had read the prequel of Mara and Trent way back when and I always wanted to see more of those two so I'm so glad it was finally their turn for a full novel.
I loved Trent and Mara's story. Secrets, lies, forgiveness, and love all in one. Trent was going through so much that he couldn't even bring himself to tell Mara about it. She's been having doubts for a long time but what she thought it was, was not what she thought.... At all. Matt was a true big brother. I loved that. I really wanted to strangle Avery. She is very manipulative. After everything went down and Trent "introduced" himself to Mara again, I just thought it was sweet, even though she was mad at him lol. You never know someone unless you really know them. There's always forgiveness. It was nice getting a glimpse at the Alexander's and the rest of the crew. Patiently waiting for Bennet and Kate's story.
P.S. I laughed when Mara saw the "different" Trent and wondered if she can lust after the same but different guy :D
I spent the biggest portion of this book screaming and laughing and half in tears. No doubt this is one of the most intense, twisting and back tracking trips I have ever taken. My heart broke a dozen times. I was torn between loving Trent and hating him. Man what a ride that ended too soon and left me wanting more. Minx never disappoints.
Another 5 Star book I loved it. Trent and Mara were made for each other i'm glad that they are getting their HEA. i want to choke Avery what she did to Trent,Mara,James and her own son. Now I can't wait to read Bennett's book. Great Job Minx you did it again!!!!!!!!!
Not my favourite. Difficult to review due to the fact a lot happens which I found entertaining but it became annoying after a certain point as more secrets and shocks kept coming into the open. Trent is keeping more than one massive secret, he has half a dozen. The whole rigmarole with crazy Avery seemed overblown, just wanted to b-ch slap her hard, especially as James, Trent’s brother, seems to end up with her. WHY? She is only after money. And the Tia thing was just creepy/freaky. I liked that Mara gave his lifestyle a try but how can you be with someone for all that time and not ever ask questions or meet his family. So Mara needs to take a small portion of the blame. She also forgives very quickly but at least they take things slowly.
I don't know if M. Malone saved the best book 📚📖 in this series for the last but in my opinion it was the best and that is saying a lot because I really enjoyed the first book 📚📖 about how Trent and Mara met. This book made me cry 😭 and made me laugh 😂 it made me angry at times but these two gave me hope and brought 😊 to my heart 💜❤️🧡💚❤️ because they persevered they made me believe in the saying Love Never Fails. I know you know I know these are fictional characters but that's how well written it is. I have read all about the Alexanders so I am in drenched in this community in Virginia and the families. I really enjoyed this story it's definitely a Good Read. I say get this book 📚 you won't be disappointed.
I enjoyed all the books in the series the Alexanders. They are all easy, pretty light reads, low on drama and angst and heavy on family theme.
This is the story of Mara and Trent. Trent is hiding an enormous secret and Mara can tell there are issues in their relationship. She wants to find out what is going on because she knows he is lying to her. She hires a PI (Eli) to find out where he is really going when he says he is on all these business trips. When she finds out, she calls him out on his secret and finds out way more than she thought. Even still, the drama isn't really all that prevalent in the story. The author keeps things low key and pretty realistic for the most part.
The book itself was well written with nuanced characters but this book made me hate trent. He was a selfish dick who had a double life, he never stopped lying to mara or treating her like a possession. It’s unbelievable mara would get back with him, actually made me dislike her.
Good story with good characters and good writing. Not a lot of sex scenes which gave room for an actual plot and I liked it. I do think my two favorite characters were not seen all that much, but the sub characters were fantastic.
Even though there are no guns blazing or someone getting kidnapped, this story is amazing. Never had an inkling with where this story was going. Full of surprises and heartache though. Mara and Trent. What a couple! Very complicated also. Enjoyed it so much!
By far the best book in the series, had me feeling so many different emotions especially towards the end! The ending did feel a little rushed and parts of the story were just skipped over in some parts.
Wow what a book. They say people act funny when they find out who you really are. They had a love so deep. Watch your friends. They only want one thing. Great book
**I received this book from Netgalley for my honest review***
WOW!! This story has it all. Lies, Backstabbing, Betrayal, Passion.. Where do I begin??
I have never read a M. Malone book before so I came into this story not knowing what to expect but I am now a convert and am so going to download the previous books.
This is a story about Trent and Mara. In this story, we find out Trent walked away from his super-wealthy family and friends and has been living a pretend life all the years he’s been best buds with Matt and in love with Mara. Upon discovering his lies, Mara, we read, is more understanding than most women would have been. She quits her job, moves to New York, and lives in Trent’s other life as a way to determine why he had to walk away and lie to everyone.
In this story, there are other side stories going on- such as Avery and Travis’s story. And who is Travis’s daddy. There are twists and turns throughout this story that will keep you on your toes. I couldn’t put this story down.
I have to say, Mara really rocked it in this story. She is one of the strongest female characters I’ve read in a long time to come thru everything that she dealt with in this story. Kudos to the author for writing such a emotionally touching story.
This was not my favorite Alexander book. To me, it started out weird and left a few holes. How does Trent lie all those years about his past and become someone so completely different without anyone knowing? If his father didn't have a heart attack would he have ever gone back? Once he is back, that's it? Carefree surf loving board shorts wearing Trent is gone? And Mara...in the beginning it looks like her boss is flirting with her. And then all of a sudden she quits to move to New York and he is never mentioned again, until he's needed that is, but again just a quick good deed and then he's not mentioned until the end. Their relationship was odd to me, but I wanted more of his story. It felt incomplete without a resolution for him. Mara has always been a hard worker, but moves to New York and weird her job and then does what all day? For all her talk of not wanting a rich man like her mom, she surely allowed Trent to keep her a "kept" woman. This book was so different then the first Trent and Mara story that I'm not sure I ended it looking Trent. The epilogue ended so quickly that we were not told what Trent well do now in New Haven. Will he start a business there? Live off his family money forever? This book was ok to me, but not magical like other Malone books I've read.
This is book five in the series and it is mostly dealing with Trent and Mara. Trent has a secret that Mara finds out about along with her brother who both had known and thought that they had known Trent for a long time. That is now all thrown out and Mara along with her brother and his friends don’t want anything to do with Trent. Trent is trying to come up with ways to get back with her but is not telling her the complete truth which is making it more difficult. Plus Trent’s brother who everyone is covering for had a child and the child’s mother has known the family for a long time and she is using the child and the history of Trent to sabotage any chance of him and Mara getting back together. It takes Trent awhile to figure all of this out and he still does not get why his secret is such a big deal. When Mara and her brother explain to him that for all the years through college and after everything that he has told them is a lie he slowly starts to understand. For someone who is so smart he is really not getting a lot. The book goes on and I don’t want to spoil it, but I will say that I liked all of the books before this one more than this one. The writing was good but it just took me awhile to get through it. I got this book from net galley.
Words practically escape me... The Alexanders Series is positively sizzling. I have read all of the books in this series but Say You Will had me so emotional. I cannot even remember reading a book that had me crying as many times as I did reading this book. M. Malone writes steamy, sensual and hot stories.
Say You Will is a supremely, well-written story that keeps you guessing right up to the end. Just when you thought things were going to be okay between Trent and Mara, Ms. Malone throws in another obstacle that has you wondering if there will ever be a happily ever after. This book has an awesome mix of emotions... extreme attraction, want, need, lies, deceit, deception, drama, angst, passion, swoon worthy moments, a great plot line, lust, and a whole lot of love thrown in.
Say You Will is an unforgettable second (even third) chance romance that tells a story of love and pain, fate and circumstances, forgiveness and hope. It's a story of how true love can survive obstacles and make you stronger. And the physical attraction between Trent and Mara is white hot as is their desire for one another.

At first, before I read this book, I was going to go back and read the previous novels in this series because I'm OCD like that and I didn't know if I needed info from these books to understand THIS book. But then I realized I'd never read a book by Ms Malone and that would have been quite an investment for an author I may or may not enjoy. So I went ahead and read this novel without any other background. And you know what happened next? I IMMEDIATELY went to amazon and download the first 2 books to read ASAP! I was absolutely blown away by this book and it's characters and storyline! Exceptionally well written ... I didn't stop reading from beginning to end. One sitting! I have never been so captivated by a storyline before. I was kept guessing every page. Just when I thought I got it. WHAM...I was wrong! LOL FANTABULOUS, I tell ya! I laughed, I cried, I screamed and then I laughed some more and finally cried. I dont know what else to tell you except to get off your butts and read this book and series. I promise you will NOT be disappointed! WOWser!
First of all, I should admit that I hadn't read the rest of the series when I picked up this book. I was hoping that it was one of those that can work as a standalone. And while it sort of does, I constantly had the feeling that I would have got a lot more enjoyment from it if I'd read the rest of the series. Say You Will wasn't really that interesting to me, and it took me a while to figure out why - Trent is hot, there's some mystery and twists, Mara is perfectly likeable and there's a large cast of peripheral characters who are all really well-written. Then I realised it was the story that I wasn't getting into. I enjoy books when people get together, preferably against the odds. So when faced with a couple who are already together, going through some issues, I just wasn't gripped I'm afraid. But that's just me. It wasn't terrible, in fact it was pretty good, but it just didn't draw me in. I might give some of Malone's other books a try though, because her writing is good.
I've got to say that I was really worried for Trent and Mara. I didn't know if she was going to be able to forgive and move past everything. Heck, I was worried I wasn't going to be able to.
M Malone has delivered such a great book here. We've got two character that you can't help but love. However you're given snippets of situations you can help but doubt that something is going on, something bad, and you just don't know what. And when the story unfolds, just wow. Twists I didn't expect. Betrayal from people I didn't expect. And I have to say, I was so happy Mara wasn't a woman who would roll over and let things go. She stood up for herself and what she would and wouldn't take in a relationship. On the flip side, I love the steps Trent took to win her back. Total devotion after such heartbreak.
I really liked this book. From the family to the relationship to the drama. M Malone did a great job and it was such a smooth read.
Trent and Mara started the series off in Teasing Trent, and they have been a couple ever since. But the journey this book took them on will have you going through so many emotions. You always hear about Mara's parents, but you get to meet them finally in this book, along with Trent's family. I can't say whether that spins the book in a positive or a negative for the reader but it truly added a lot of insight into why the two were the way they are.
I loved how deep the story got and was mad where I am sure Ms Malone knew she would get her readers. The "villians" of the book were just pure evil to me and destroyed so much while getting away with a smile on their face.
The story took a path that showed growth of the characters and it made me love them even more. And it is always great to see the Alexanders get together.
I really like this series about the Jackson brothers so I was a little wary of reading this book because I wanted to learn more about the elusive older brother Bennett.
But to my surprise, this book is my favorite! I think it was more romantic and I thought the plot was more intricate but also believable. The love between Mara & Trent was amazing and they both fought took and nail for their love to be sustained, even though it was hard and they had to overcome many obstacles.
Kudos to the author for also having the characters go to counseling and have it be a positive experience. So many books portray therapy as useless or as something that only weak minded people would do. It's nice to know that the author portrays going to therapy as a sign of strength and a source of healing!!
