To make this english and more helpful, the book was very engrossing! Admittedly it started out a little slow but it's pretty beautifully written with beautiful imagery (or it seems so from the translated version), the world building is interesting with a mixture of fantasy + alternate ancient world + wuxia and the heroine is AWESOME.
So rarely do I find a heroine so very capable, takes charge of her own destiny/family and is so apologetically and ruthlessly vicious to her enemies even as she's generous towards those she cares for. She's smart, crafty, powerful and talented and she revels in it, and the writer pulls it off in a way that endears her to you and makes you feel the sadistic urge to see her crush people who slight her. She's never unnecessarily hostile, confrontational or stubborn for no reason. When it comes to her love interests, she has understandable reasons to be against the first, though not malevolent, and I can feel myself falling deep for the second love interest along with her and all the while she never breaks character or behave in a way that is inconsistent to what the writer shows us of her. There is no doubt that this is HER story, I hope that she will continue to remain awesome and I wish that there were more heroines like her, both in western and eastern novels.
As for her love interests so far...we don't really see much of either of them in the first book. I thought I'd end up supporting the first love interest (aka the Prince she's engaged to) when he realizes she's awesome and he's been an asshole to the heroine for a stupid shallow reason as her looks (he thinks she's ugly because she has a red mark on half of her face) but I really really like the second one so much! He's super honest and adorable if a bit arrogant and seem a little emotionally stunted, but the important thing is that he respects the heroine! And acknowledges her good points right from the start. I can't help but quickly develop warm and fuzzy squeal fangirl feels for him even though he only appeared in the latter half.
In any case, I would definitely recommend this book! In fact, if people who are looking for a series where the protagonist isn't willing to quickly turn around and be friendly to the people who treated her cruelly in the past just because they finally realized her good points, but instead chooses to accept the people who sees her from the start, this is also the book for you!
