Mikah and Dominic are characters from a shared world but this is their very own and unique story. It is an angsty story with plenty of great moments as well as some that will have your heart cracking in two, feeling for them both equally. Their HEA may be hard won but the journey is amazing. Penny Fox ensures that we, as readers, know both characters inside out. From their own perspective and that of the other. These men are antagonistic towards one another owing to their own insecurities and some stereotypes which they manage to break through. Their story is one that had me hooked, it is explicit, very little is held back making it hot and steamy but it is also a story that comes from a place of love, of a desire to dive into alternative lifestyles and show how healing they can be and how amazing people are once we see past their walls.
Mikah has a new neighbour, well new-ish. He moved into this town, this house, looking for a quiet and friendly neighbourhood where he could easily continue to do his job for Behind the Lens, as a cam boy. When his elderly neighbour died Dominic moved in and the two have been antagonistic to one another ever since. Mikah is convinced Dominic is a dodgy dealer but right now he has another problem, someone has stolen his identity and all his money. He has a best friend back home, a home he never wants to return to after the abuse he received as a child, who is happy to help but it could be finally talking to Dominic which is the catalyst that changes his world. He just needs to get himself back on track, get this situation sorted and deal with his issues. Simple? No. Doable. Possibly.
Dominic loves his job, as a cam boy, working for himself, he makes a lot of money. He loves to spend his money too but he is happy with this new home, with the neighbourhood he has moved into and he does enjoy antagonising his neighbour. Honestly though, he wants to know more about the man who lives next door so when Mikah stands on his doorstep offering a proposition of course he is interested but of course he still wants to play his role as the bad boy, he still wants to antagonise. Yet there is something else, underneath all of that, something he is not sure he wants to admit to, after all he is a dominant, he likes to be in charge, likes to ensure his life is working as he wants it to. He wants things on his terms. Will listening to the proposition that Mikah has change that or will it be something that turns out to be the best thing ever for them both?
This story is an immersive read, it is fascinating, interesting, incredibly sexy and opens up a world that I have read about before but not from this angle (pardon the pun). It is very very steamy but it also tackles some challenging and difficult issues. It will have you fanning yourself, have your heart growing, breaking and then being healed, all in the very best ways. This is an unmissable read.
