Perfectly adequate as a study guide. The sections are clear and concise, and are presented in a logical order. It's not a riveting read, and feels very superficial, but for the purposes of preparing for a citizenship knowledge exam, I feel like there isn't a better substitute. This guide gets bonus points from me for having a pleasing colour scheme and well-placed, high-quality photos and imagery.

Functional but a bit dry. It's very focused on facts, and I understand why, but I'd like to hear more of the story behind the list of facts. Maybe if there was a supplementary book or podcast that could tell the story - I'll have to check the additional resources listed at the end.
Anyway, we'll see if this worked in a few months.

It’s an adequate study guide, however it was quite dry and the EPUB version is not formatted correctly. Some of the information is repetitive across sections, and some events are not described in chronological order.
It also felt a bit dated and given that this is the official study guide, a newer updated version is needed.

For what this book’s goal was, I think it did a tremendous job. Covering highs and lows, sharing the historical proud moments and diversity. Reading it made me feel proud of Canada, which should be the goal for new citizens.

It also made me think of a hypothetical parallel universe, where in a similar book Turkey has a paragraph about the Armenian genocide starting with “Regretfully” and ending with “in 2023 the government officially apologized and reimbursed the families of the 1.5m victims”. Wishful thinking..

Curious about Canada, hoped this would give a general overview, was far too superficial. I guess I just wanted something more.

Edit: In December 2022, I had to take the citizenship test so I reread this about 6 times in four days. I aced the test, but grew to hate the book.

It’s a little dry but I have learned many interesting facts about Canada. There are things that have changed compared to what the book mentioned (like the population of Canada), so remember to double check the stats on Stats Canada if you want to use the stats for your research.

Decent booklet if you want to learn more about the history of Canada and some interesting facts. I definitely learnt a lot of new things.

It's a nice... oversized leaflet? Maybe the best way to prepare for this exam isn't on this book, but on the several apps (and, weirdly, YouTube videos) that are available

Narcissistic billionaires have not necessarily made America great again, but they have made it cool to be Canadian again. Read because my partner is going to sit the exam soon. Made me realize I have a pretty loose grasp of Canadian history earned from dozing off in grade school classes.
