This one was much better than the last one. Cat was once again able to be the strong FMC I’ve read about and it brought the story back to where it started. There were a lot of nice moments like seeing these five tough men try to take care of a child, Cat coming back to herself, all the love and support, and the amazing revenge. Even with all those, the story still felt very surface level.

It was rushed for me. Everything tied up too quickly and there were some loose ends that were forgotten about. I also wish the romantic relationships between Cat and her guys was developed more. There was no depth besides them loving each other and willing to die for each other. They don’t have any deeper talks and there’s some serious things about Cat’s past I think they should have known and I wish we would have seen her share with them. I still loved all of the characters I just wish we got more of them.

Overall, I enjoyed this series! The first book was my favourite but the whole series ended up being really fun. I loved reading about a strong FMC. The guys were hot and loveable, the plot was really interesting (although it fell off in the second half), and the pace was pretty quick which kept my interest. I’m glad I picked this story up!

3.5 ⭐ - Though I was a little bit let down by this conclusion - I love this series and think its great for people like me who are newer to mafia romance.

I can appreciate these being quick reads but at the same time I can't help but feeling that books 3 and 4 were super rushed. I think there could have been a lot more to this story and that too many things were just glossed over so quickly.

I was really into the story throughout the series so I just wanted a bit more from this conclusion.

overall a 4 star series for me though ❤

The ending to this series is not strong and not what it should have been. I'm actually angry at the ending, but that's a whole different issue I'm not getting into it's too long. There are plot points introduced throughout the books that are left hanging. I did enjoy this one a tad better because there was movement happening, things shifting, and actual development with Cat, the guys, and the jackhole cousin. While I may not have liked this book, I did enjoy the characters. Cat was actually the Cat I expected and wanted her to be. Im proud of the queen she has become

I was in a terrible reading slump and I so wanted this book to be the end of it, but alas I’m a mood reader, so it was not.

I forced myself to start this, because don’t get me wrong, I loved the first three books and I was desperate to continue this series but then I got to the 37% mark and I realized I was not in the mood for reading despair and hopelessness.

So although I really loved and enjoyed this series, it took me a little longer than expected to finish this last book.

This was definitely shorter than the last ones but it still was quick and easy going, I would’ve l liked to say I loved this but although it was good I was bored.

I don’t know if my change of heart was because the time it took to come out and then the time I took to read it but I sadly lost interest. So in de end, I don’t know if the book was actually underwhelming or I just wasn’t interested.

Once again, because of the time that passed since I read the last books, non of the deaths or near death experiences meant anything to me, it was just one more page of a book I just wanted to finish.

I guess I wasn’t bored but I wasn’t exactly entertained either, I honestly just picked this up because it was the only book I had downloaded in my kindle so it was an “out of options” kind of decision.

I’m not telling you not to read this series because I insist I loved the first three books, I just was disappointed with this one.

Also I hated the ending, not only do I hate when a books ends with sex but there was no epilogue, we didn’t got to see their happily ever after, everything was rushed and lost meaningfulness, in the end there were a lot of loose ends.

This was the perfect ending to an epic story. The story picks up right where book three left off, and we (plus the characters) get a small break from the never ending turmoil that was the last book. While the reprieve is necessary and brings about some much-needed relationship and character growth, the action picks back up with a bang!

All of the main characters have gone through some deep trauma at varying points in the series. That brings a certain level of understanding between them all, and they start book four on equal footing. They are able to connect with each other, offer each other compassion and respect for their situation, and hold each other up in moments of distress. In this book, we see Cat slowly learning to lean on others and that emotions and caring are not a weakness. It’s a completely heartbreaking process to witness - kudos to the author for doing such a fantastic job of making those emotions come to life. My heart broke along with Cat’s and the guys’ and then stitched itself back up as the story concluded.

The spice is not lacking in this book, and I appreciate how much thought was put into making sure the timing and execution made sense with the plot and the characters’ mindsets.

I adore Cat and each of her guys. Usually with a why-choose, one or two love interests might stand out as a favorite of mine but in this one, I am equally obsessed with all of them for different reasons. I am devastated that the series is over but the ending was quite satisfying and I’m looking forward to what the author does next!

“We all have scars. Yours are part of your story, Cat. Every part of you is beautiful to me.”

Holy shit, I needed this! After the absolute hell Caterina and her men went through in books 1-3, a HEA was beyond overdue. It was a perfect ending to a heartbreaking and explosive series.

I devoured this book, and it put me through all the emotions. I cannot count the times I found myself tearing up, in joy and sorrow.

The steam picks up in this final book. Reconnecting MF scenes and some very spicy group scenes.

I highly recommend this entire series. Those who have made the journey with me, reading each book as it was released, will feel the same relief at the end. Those who have the pleasure of binging all in one go—be prepared to have your life taken over.

This was solid conclusion to this series, wrapped up all the loose ends, she got the vengeance she (and others) wanted and Matteo is a filthy piece of dirt. I cried when Stefano’s mom patted her head, I wish there was a bit more to that story. Also I didn’t really understand what happened to Dante? It didn’t fully explain in the epilogue thing either she just says “but your back” like? Is he paralyzed? Just sore? What? Otherwise tho, I liked the slow bonding with her daughter despite everything. Her men always having her back but also respecting her. Good solid mafia series

For the love of capo!

Awe, this was such a good lil’ series. I strongly admire each capo and their determination to do what it takes to protect the ones they love, especially family. Caterina too! Thank you, Evelyn Flood, for the ending. They deserved it. Some scenes were a little sexy/raunchy but what’s a poly relationship without that right?

It's the end! I've loved this series, this complete emotional rollercoaster, but now it's over.

Out of the four books, I think this was the least intense. It had some scheming and drama, of course, but it also had some really sweet moments.

These characters have been through a monumental amount over the series, some truly awful things, but the way the story all came together was amazing.

A great series!

What. A. Disappointment.

The series started off on a major high. I thought it was going to end up being another favorite. Boy, was I wrong! The first two books of the series were great. Unfortunately, the series took a deep dive off a cliff after book 2. I only read the last book because it was on KU and I was slightly curious if the series would redeem itself. It did not.

I am giving this book 1 extra star than the last book because it did not make me quite as angry as the last one.

To sum it up... had I'd known how would come to feel about the last two books, I never would have started the series.

I quite enjoyed this story up to this point, but felt very underwhelmed with this. At some parts, the story felt quite rushed and could have done with more detail. For example:

Another thing that left me underwhelmed was that there were a lot of plot points or story lines left unfinished. A few off the top of my head would be:

The biggest reason that I feel underwhelmed stems from how quickly the book finished. It was not a strong finish for such an entertaining series. My issues with the finish are:

- Every book this series has ended on a cliffhanger, which is acceptable and for the most part expected for this type of story. This book, the last book in the series, did not have to end in a cliff hanger. It does not make sense. I get the shock value of

Anyway, if you read the first three in the series, you'll likely like this one as well, but it did leave a bit to be desired.

The final chapter of the Mafia University Series, A Mastery of Crows, is nothing short of a masterful conclusion to Caterina Corvo's tumultuous journey. Picking up right where book three left off, this installment gives both the characters and readers a brief respite before diving back into the high-stakes world of the Cosa Nostra with all the intensity we've come to expect.
Evelyn Flood brilliantly captures the raw emotion and resilience of Cat and her men. Each character, scarred by their pasts, stands on equal footing as they navigate their collective traumas. The growth in their relationships is palpable, as they learn to lean on each other, offering compassion and support that’s been hard-earned over the series. Watching Cat evolve, realizing that vulnerability is not weakness, is both heartbreaking and empowering. Flood’s writing makes every emotion—every tear, every victory—feel real, and it’s impossible not to feel your heart break and heal right along with the characters.
The action is relentless, and the tension is perfectly balanced with moments of deep emotional connection. And let’s talk about the spice—Flood does an incredible job weaving it seamlessly into the plot, ensuring it aligns with the characters' journeys rather than serving as mere filler. The result is a story that’s as emotionally satisfying as it is thrilling.
As someone who loves a good why-choose romance, I was thoroughly impressed with how Flood developed each of Cat’s relationships. Typically, there’s one love interest that stands out, but here, each of Cat's men is compelling in his own right, making it impossible to choose a favorite.
While it’s devastating to say goodbye to this world, the ending is both satisfying and fitting for such an epic saga. A Mastery of Crows is a must-read for fans of the series, and I can’t wait to see what Evelyn Flood has in store for us next.

Review for the whole series

It's rare that a four book series keeps me hooked like this one did, I usually get bored in the middle. But with this series there wasn't one single boring moment I alway wanted to know what was going to happen. So much that I finished in 2 days!

The characters
Our FMC Catarina is strong without being annoying, honorable and loyal and this is consistent through out the books. Her relationship with the guys is great and you can understand why they love her. Even though the plot is important it doesn't take away from their relationship the romantic moments are swoon-worthy.

The guys: Dante, Luciano, Giovanni, Domenico and Stefano. They are all distinct from each other they never blurred together for me which is a great thing in a 5-guy RH. I love when they are forced to get along because of the FMC and are not friends from the beginning and the author did a great job building their relationship. Their love and loyalty to Cat really came through and made me cheer for their HEA even harder. And If I have something to complain is that we didn't ger a longer epilogue I want more from them!!

The villain is truly despicable nothing redeemable about him. I think they dealt with him to quickly but I understand why it happened that way and it was satisfying.

It was great series, super recommend

*4.50 rating for the series

This series was slow build and slow burn for some of the MMCs. The plot, characters, and world building were written well. I was able to get to know the characters really well, esp. the FMC. She was a strong heroine but was broken down and rebuilt to a stronger one. She was able to survive through a lot of mental, physical, and emotional trauma/abuse. I felt a lot of emotions while reading this series and their HEA was well deserved.

Some spoilers/notes - FMC has a hidden daughter with one of the MMCs, not sure if that is a dealbreaker for some readers but it was ok for me. The villain was indeed a psychopath - no rhyme or reason as to why he did what he did, just that he's unhinged. Book 3 was centered around the 100 days the FMC was kidnapped and broken.

This is the first book I've read from this author and I liked it. My only issue was the ending, everything pretty much happened in the last 4 chapters and they were very short chapters. Also with the final fight, it felt like the red wedding episode of GOT. Everyone was just dropping like flies LOL, also that there was no retribution between the FMC and her father.

Overall, I loved the series and was sad for it to end. I wish the epilogue was longer and I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.

✨ The Review:

A Mastery of Crows is the fourth and final book in the Mafia University series by Evelyn Flood. This dark romance is full of twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat!

'You are mine, you understand? You are mine, and I am yours. And we are endgame, you and I.'

After the epic ending of the last book I was ready to see how this story was going to be wrapped up. I really loved the slow build to the ending, the sweet scenes between certain characters and the plotting was so good. So much action, so much violence and lots of spice, the perfect mix!

“Every single piece of this jagged heart of mine is yours.”

I still cannot decide who my favourite guy is because they all bring something to the table that Cat needs but dammnit I do love me a bit of Luc! This was just the perfect way to wrap up the book with a perfect ending for a certain cousin! Definitely recommend this series!!

“But your heart hasn’t changed, Cat.” “A little more fragile, maybe.” “Then I will look after it more carefully.”

This series started off strong but took a huge turn for the worse by book 3. The strong Cat in the first two books becomes a weak submissive slave to Salvatore all to protect her loved ones. I wanted to see her fire and watch her fight back. Book 3 felt like torture porn. It was painful to read and I ended up skimming. And I didn't care about Stefano and I definitely didn't want him added to her family. Book 4 was too long and rushed all at the same time. Details were skipped over and key moments like Matteo's death were way too fast. And I can't believe I'm saying this but I stopped caring about the sex scenes. Considering she was drugged and tortured for 100 days, I just can't believe she would be so quick to start having sex with her men with no trauma or withdrawals from the drugs. And the book ended with no real epilogue and so many unanswered questions like what happened to poor Amie??

Satisfying conclusion for the most part. She got her vengeance on Matteo and is living happily ever after with her daughter and men.

Overall I still wish book 3 was reworked to spend more time plotting and building up to the finale. It seemed like we spent a lot of time on recovering from the abuse in book 3 and then with like 20% left a ton happened. We spend all this time working up to this big battle and it didn’t seem like it was that hard. Also, don’t really understand why we had Dante get hurt at the like 98% point of the story just to be fine a few pages later? Seemed like a waste and super confusing both when I thought he actually died and when he waltzed totally fine a few pages later. There are also a bunch of unanswered questions and plot points that make me wonder if maybe they’ll be a spin off at some point, but if not it would have been nice to wrap up a few more things before the end.

HOLY SHNIT! Wow! What a way to end this incredible series! Ugh! I wish there was another book! I loved every moment of this book other than my heart being ripped out then shoved back into my chest at the end!!! ( Me sobbing at 11:45 pm on a Sunday night.)

It’s insane to see how far all of these characters came and how much they withstood. I couldn’t be happier with the way this series ended.

If you haven’t read A Murder of Crows, you absolutely should! I am so grateful to still be receiving ARC’s from Evelyn, her writing transports me. I cannot wait for Briar to release!

A Mastery of Crows is the last book in the Mafia University series. This is a dark why choose mafia romance and I have to say that this one left me feeling underwhelmed. It was not what I thought it would be after reading the third book.

I adore the plot of this series, but I'm a bit disappointed that some scenes were just very fast-paced when it would have been more interesting if we got to see more. This wasn't such an issue in previous books in the series, because we also got very detailed scenes, but in this one, everything was fast-paced. I love that we got multiple POVs and the MMCs interactions with Cat's daughter were so freaking adorable.

Overall, this last book wasn't my cup of tea, but if you are looking for a mafia why choose romance, with very protective MMCs and a decent amount of spice then you need to check this one out.

Great conclusion to the series!

Really enjoyed the last book and took my time with it. It was a slow build with lots of closure for various characters (a few opportunities for more stories as well I’m hoping). A lot happens in this one - I held my breath a few times and not going to lie the last couple of chapters I read so fast because I was not ok with it 🫣
Lots of blood, violence and tough scenes but well written and obviously a nice bit of spice too 🥵. Cat’s character has always been strong and powerful and although she has her men who will protect her, I’m glad she got to control how the battle scene went and didn’t become a damsel in distress. In fact all the characters have stayed consistent throughout the series even when falling for the FMC and the banter was good ❤️

Although I expected so much more for this book, I’m still giving 4 stars. Evelyn wrapped up the series nicely. HOWEVER

it felt too rushed towards the end. I feel Matteo’s death should have been more. The entire series he was made out to be this big bad, but died like a little bitch.

I also wish there was more to that epilogue. Wrap up some loose ends. Such as, how did Dante survive? What happened to Aimee? Did all of the senior capos really approve of Cat taking over (it was implied but not explicit)? Did Stefano really step in as capo for the Asante family?

I mean, I could probably go on but I won’t. I’m not totally disappointed because the last book absolutely slayed me emotionally so it was nice to have a “lighter” ending. Overall, the series was a fun read!

This was such the perfect ending for Caterina and her men after all they had been through! Just because this was the final book didn’t mean that it was just about wrapping things up, there was so much action in this book! I absolutely adored Caterina, I cannot believe she is still standing after everything she has been through! I’m so glad she got her revenge on everyone but it was heartbreaking to see the effects it had on her ❤️ Thanks to her men and her badass self she was still able to fight and they fought for there well deserved happy ending! I also loved all the scenes we got with Caterina, her men & Alessia ❤️ I absolutely loved this series, and cannot wait to read The Harbringers next!

We went from a strong Cat in book 3 to this very vulnerable and traumatized girl in this book. I don't get why we didn't read about what she went through in book 3 when she was going through it. It's very anticlimactic and I didn't connect at all to Cat's new persona.
The book is very predictable (and short) and I couldn't care less about the ending. It was too easy. Lots of loose ends. Stefano's mother? Rosa? What about Gio's parents? Amie?
I also find it very weird how Alessia is calling the others guys "uncle".

I have been on my toes waiting for this book.
Anxiously waiting for a happy ending…or the sad one I knew was coming

Evelyn Flood continues on with the Mafia University Romance.
Ending the last book on a cliffhanger, we all wondered would Caterina be okay? Would her obtained scars jeopardize the relationships she’s built?
What happens to Alessia?
Does this chosen family stay together? Or does the trauma they each individually went through affect the relationships they worked so hard to build?
Read to find out!

Obsessed. I adored the Mafia University series by Evelyn Flood. These books had me laughing, on the edge of my seat, and absolutely bawling more than a few times.

I love this cast of characters. It's a why choose where the group is built along the way. I can't even tell you who is my favourite because it changes so often, but I think Gio and Dom might take the cake.

I can't say too much more as this is the final installment in this series. If you like mafia and why choose, this is definitely one to check out!

This whole series blew me away. I absolutely loved it. The way I feel in love with all of the main characters and then hated some so deeply. There’s nothing I love more than when an author can make me feel such a wide range of emotions. I was hooked from the beginning and on the edge of my seat throughout every book. I would highly recommend this series, if you enjoy a fast based, dark, mafia, reverse harem. Absolutely love!
