Charlie Moore was born and raised in Sydney, Australia. He started work on his first full length novel at age 18. When running through final edits for the book, he put it aside; wanting to live and experience some of the adventures his characters were thrust into. He became an accomplished martial artist, winning his first full contact fight by TKO and gaining over 30 medals before retiring from competition. He traveled the globe, got lost in dangerous parts of the world, swam with sharks, jumped out of planes, and became a Private Investigator. Resuming his passion for writing, Charlie started ghost writing to build and harness his skill, and in mid 2012 “MOMENTUM: Against the Clock” was born. Charlie now shares his time between rock climbing with his wife, playing with his son, and writing deadly action-packed thrillers.

Great action but abrupt ending.

The quality of writing is good. The book holds your attention but does not give adequate detail in describing the background and motivations of the villains. Maybe these details are in a different book. The reason why I only gave the book 3 stars is because of its abrupt ending. It's as if the author concluded he had written enough pages so he ended the book in a way that makes a reader unsatisfied. The author may think that this will motivate the reader to buy other books in a series.

Wow was 'Against the Clock' explosive. I loved everything about it. The action was fast paced and deadly. The storyline was extremely thrilling. I loved how the story never let up. It was very well written and crafted with perfection. I loved the kick-ass lead, Shirin. She is a deadly combination of skill, quick thinking and would not want her as an adversary. You definitely wouldn't want to be on her bad side. Trent was a great asset to have. I can not wait for Shirin's next adventure. A definite must read. Highly recommended.

Great new heroine

This book was SO much better than I anticipated. The lead character is true badass but also much more. The action is nonstop and tho her abilities are a wee bit ridiculous at times, you find yourself going with it. The editing is a bit odd and the names of some places and people changed from first book to second, but so what, it doesn’t detract from the experience at all, for me. One of the better books I’ve read in this genre in quite some time. And I read a lot, always looking for new series. I’ve read books 1 & 2 over the last three days, starting 3 now and was terribly disappointed to see book 4 doesn’t arrive til June.

Good Series

Wow! This series just keeps getting better. Shirin Reyes is a kick-ass, take-no-prisoners ex-intelligence agent on a personal mission of vengeance against the people responsible for her husband’s death. She is skilled with technology as well as martial arts and weapons. She is not a very nice person but I liked her anyway. This book is for anyone who likes a well-written, intelligent novel with a tough heroine, lots of action and some romance thrown in.

Charlie Moore's book Against the Clock was one book we couldn't wait to dive into! And as soon as we began turning the pages we wished the clock would stop! Can somebody please get us a bucket of water because this book is pure fire! A new king has arrived on the scene in the literary arena. Against the Clock is a book that's so good that we could not turn Carlie away. I will explain more to you all later.
Yes, if your name is Robert Ludlum, James Patterson, or Tom Clancy which are three authors I greatly admire. To be frank as can be, what I am about to say might make your head spin, some may even consider it heresy. Yet here it is straight from the mouths of us here at The Urb.
“Sirs, could you all please slide your askmewhats to the left so Charlie Moore can present himself on the set.”
Yes, Charlie Moore, The Adventurer from Sidney Australia, home of the whatnots such as the Crocodile Dundee, Steve Irwin who wasn’t afraid of anything, and the Big A AKA Arnold Swarzenegger, who came to terminate s**t! Charlie Moore’s first novel is a topnotch spy thriller that will have you hanging on the edge of your seat as soon as you open the first page one can purview that Charlie must have written this novel with a bucket of gasoline by his side and a flame thrower to ignite it. All I can say is, if Charlie was a prized fighter this novel; Against the Clock would easily be a first round knockout! The main Character in this espionage fiction maybe a light weight physically but is hell on wheels as she exacts judgment against those forces behind the murder of her beloved husband.
From the onset of this novel, the highly crafted prose will have you screaming WTF! As Charlie tells his exciting tale of espionage afresh. His character Shirin Reyes, will have you cheering for her like a high school cheerleader at a championship game as she executes her vengeful wrath upon the unsuspecting team of nemesis’s who consist of veterans within the spy world; a place of untold ruthlessness, cut throats, and backstabbing agents, and chiefs who won’t stop at nothing until they see Shirin lying 6 feet under with the daisies. At least that is their intent.
To sum up this great adventure without giving up too much detail let’s just say that Shirin is a character who is full of life, and is skilled as a cheetah would be in human form. Shirin Reyes delivers an action packed performance which reminded me of Angela Jolie in the movie Salt. Shirin is as lethal as an Indian Gray Mongoose is to a 7 foot long Cobra
Yes, iurban.org is mainly about Urban Fiction indeed but we are not stupid enough to turn down this sumptuous feast of words delivered by a possible would-be king of Espionage Thrillers. Charlie Moore we tip our hats too you and are looking forward to part 2 of this thriller.

This is what pace is all about. A great story, well written thriller that is hard to put down. Without spoiling anything, I hated the beginning and almost put the book aside never to be picked up again. It opens with a pornographic sex chapter that after reading the book wondered why it was in there at all. It reminded me of a B movie when the producer says to the director "Just put the nude scenes in and don't worry if they don't make sense the audience doesn't care." Sadly the audience does care. The man in that chapter is never seen or mentioned again and has nothing to do with the plot. Like i said the work was on the edge of the round file - (trash can for those that don't know what it means). Then comes chapter two to the end of the book. Slam dunk OMG page turning thriller. Sharon Reyes is the main character and first chapter aside, she is a great character. Tough. smart, sexy, thoughtful and has no idea what the words "don't" or "can't" means. I don't usually like macho women - equally with macho men - but Reyes is special. She's been wronged, a damaged bird with a broken wing. She wants revenge and the way she goes about business is what makes this book work. You meets all the usual suspects and hate most of them. The evil are just the right flavor and make all the moves to keep you glued to the page. The one or two friends Reyes has you like and want to keep them around. The bad guys need to learn a few lessons and Reyes has ways to satisfy their egos. She's not macho and yet she is all the things that make macho work. The one exception is she has this woman inside that needs and the need drives her. Will it ever be satisfied? We'll find out in book 3 or 6 or we'll keep wanting for her - but not to totally be healed and spoil the fun. Charlie Moore, the author, will be around for a long time. Love everything about the book except chapter one - and still gave it 5-Stars.

"Don't Miss Out On the High Action Novel of the Year"

This stunning novel, written by Australian Author Charlie Moore, is the fastest paced story I've ever read. It starts off with a very rich man meeting a lovely gal at a bar and taking her to his suite for a little play time. This woman is demure, very feminine, with smooth, tanned skin, and yet very muscular. When she leaves the suite, the security guard smoothly drops a tracking device in her handbag. Trent Barratt's team starts to track her, though no one seems to know who she is. But they will soon find out as she takes out three of Trent's team and escapes. Can this be the same demure woman? She has speed and intense alertness like a leopard. Trent had her in his scope, but then she disappeared. Director Selig would like to get rid of Trent, but he's informed that Trent is needed to find this woman and kill her. We soon learn this woman is Shirin Reyes, who once worked for the Agency under Director Selig. She had never failed her missions, but was an irritant to Selig. However, when her husband is murdered, she becomes adamant about finding all who were involved with his death. Who can she be working for? Or, better yet, who is she trying to bring down? Does she know that Selig had her husband killed? "Hell has no wrath like a woman scorned?" Shirin is seeking revenge. But all these movements of agents, assassinations, torture, and escape will make little difference when Operation Sandstone will be placed into action in about 6 1/2 hours. Did I mention this was fast paced? It's extremely well written, captivating and very suspenseful. The story line is potent, and you won't want the clock to run out until ... well, until perhaps the world might be saved? Read this story, your adrenalin will rise!

Set in Australia, Against the Clock: The Clock is Ticking is a well-crafted, action-packed spy-thriller (and I do mean packed will loads of action scenes)with a hard-edged heroine (Shirin).

Shirin appears to be a woman who exudes all the characteristics of beauty, sex appeal, and demureness. However, underneath she is a kick-ass action heroine with lethal intentions who will stop at nothing to avenge her husband's death.

Shirin is one of the most mysterious female characters I have read in a long time. She keeps the reader at the edge of their seat and as the story unfolds, at a fast, page turning pace, questions arise to keep the reader rooted to the story: Who is she working for? What will she do next? Who is her next target?

The story is gripping, intriguing, fast paced, with highly passionate, erotic sex scenes.

The protagonists and antagonists (assassins, psychopaths) are all well developed and add to the potent and captivating action.

This book will give readers who love intrigue and a plot filled with an abundance of suspense, a thrilling ride, as you travel this extraordinary heart-pounding, adrenalin filled journey with Shirin and the rest of the characters.

Warning: Some of the violent scenes are graphic.

Marisol (not her real name) meets Bill Civic and animal passion ensues. But she is not who she appears to be. She is sexy and deadly with a human side and an agenda: to kill all those responsible for her husband's death. She is Shirin Reyes. Bill is the first step in discovery and revenge. Shirin has a vendetta to execute, but the plot thickens to traitors at the highest level of geovernemnt.

There is a rich stream of characters; to name a few: the ruthless Shirin and Trent Barratt, both good and bad;the evil Director Selig, a power hungry monster, the sadistic killer, who delights in torture; and the innocent. Characters are convincing. The plot is creative and moves forward with non-stop action, conflict, and challenge. The story is implausible in part, but that only adds to the action and the enjoyment of the reader; it is not an unusual characteristic of the genre.

In its category, I put Against the Clock in the vicinity of the top novels. I'll bet you will really like this story. Reviewed by the author of The Children's Story About Good and Evil, A Novel Not for Children.

This well written book is action-packed with a woman who is seeking revenge for those responsible for the death of her husband. The characters are well developed and as soon as you believe you know every facet of the character you learn more. There are some who are very good at manipulating others and also at manipulating the desired outcome they want from a situation.

Shirin Reyes is a strong, intelligent, determined and a lethal woman. She is relentless in the pursuit of the perpetrator/s and won't stop until the responsible party or parties are dead or until she is incapable of pursuit. She doesn't consider the consequences of her actions by involving others in her mission. Just by being involved with someone as simply as a friend could draw them into this vendetta.

This book continually keeps your interest with the intrigue, corruption, and espionage. I found it difficult to put the book down.

I recommend this book because it is an awesome read and can't wait for the next book to come out.

Superwoman avenger

Although the protagonist in this novel is a woman, Shirin Reyes, she is actually portrayed as a superwoman, out to clean up all government corruption, wipe out political subterfuge and avenge the murder of her husband, Harry, because of all this corruption. Although the story doesn’t say where she got all her training, there isn’t anything she can’t do better than a man. This is a novel that a man might enjoy more than a woman, simply because Shirin is not the epitome of womanhood. The story does open with very explicit sex, which really doesn’t add anything to the plot, but the story is action-filled with gun-fights, torture, and death-defying stunts, which for the most part are colorful and descriptive facets of the author’s imagination. This book is the beginning of a series of adventures, which will satisfy many readers even though they are unbelievable in some instances. Of course, this is what makes a good thriller.
For a first time novelist, he did a good job.

I decided to read this book for two reasons.
1. I got it for free during a promotion on Kindle
2. It was highly rated on both Amazon and Goodreads.

I liked how the author pushed the action forward.
I got a bit frustrated near the middle of the book because I couldn't figure out who was working for the government and who was not. It didn't feel like the characters were developed enough when they were introduced to make them stick in my mind.
In this type of novel I expect to be taken to the edge of realism. However, the final scene on the airplane took me to the edge and past plausibility.
Finally, the Kindle version was formatted incorrectly for the Kindle Paperwhite. In order to get the text to be readable I had to use the second largest font size, select a font that was difficult to read, and squeeze the lines together and shrink the margins. Otherwise it was minuscule text spaced way to far apart and huge margins. The publisher should check the text on a real Kindle before publishing the book.

Overall, not a bad book. I enjoyed the story

{Our copy of the book was provided by the author in return for a candid review.}

We thought we had accidentally stumbled upon a porno novel given the graphic sex in chapter one – but after skimming most of it, it soon became apparent the intent was to introduce spy-agent and “wonder woman” Shirin Reyes. She is the undeniable heroine of the plot, who can kill in cold blood without batting an eye; defeat every opponent, no matter how outnumbered; and out-plan and outfox the most dangerous of adversaries. That she can fly onto a moving airplane near the novel’s conclusion gives you a gist of the far-fetched nature of the whole tale.

That she is slowly killing off every single soul responsible for the death of her beloved husband is justification for the violence herein, with few pages between brutal slayings of all sorts. The frequent time stamps on the action did little but confuse – presumably the whole action, first of at least one sequel, took place in under 48 hours.

Frankly, while somewhat suspenseful, not at all our cup of tea.

A strong female protagonist, multiple plot lines, surprising twists and turns. And you have the makings of a great novel. Shirin is an above average intelligence officer in search of the man who had ordered the death of her beloved husband on an intelligence mission. She is most certainly a force to be reckoned with. She is strong, extremely capable, likable and executes complicated plans quickly and competently. As the novel moves along, the pace is fast and furious, with many sub plots beneath the surface. Apart from a few typo's and grammatical errors, the book is well written and well planned, and the pace keeps you glued to the book. Well worth reading. I am looking forward to many more novels by this author, hopefully with Shirin in them. She is captivating character ans you can't help rooting for her to win!

Shiin is out to get the men who killed her husband and she will go to any length to discover who they all are and make sure they pay. She is a master of disguise and very accomplished in many other ways, as people are going to discover.

This is a short novel, but it is filled with action, intrigue, back-stabbing and double crossing that novels twice the size fail to produce. Shirin is a heroine that you will enjoy reading about and have you waiting for the next Reyes action adventure.

I predict that Charlie Moore will be up there with authors such as Chllds, Berenson, Taylor, Rollins and Coes in the near future

This book would have received 5 stars if not for three technical errors about Glocks. 1. Glocks do not have an external hammer that can be cocked or de-cocked by the shooter's thumb. A Glock hammer can only be cocked when the shooter pulls the slide back to chamber a round or the trigger is pulled.
2. A Glock does not have an external safety on the slide or the receiver. The shooter's trigger finger is the safety. (An external safety can be installed as an after market accessory but this defeats the purpose of the trigger safety) 3. Glocks do not use ammo clips. Glocks use a double stack magazine.

This book was wonderfully written. Inhave never read a book like this before and I'm so glad that I did. The action was great. The suspense kept your attention and kept you reading. The further you get into the story, the more you find out about what makes Shirin Reyes tick. And when she ticks, you want to be on her side and not the pposite side. All she wants is revenge for the death of her husband and boy does this story take you through twists and turns. Unfortunately to find out if she gets her revenge, you have to read it. Pick it up, you won't regret it!
