I finished it, which I am pretty proud of. Did not enjoy this one. May write a more detailed review at a later date but this book contained insta-love, stereotypical bad guys and Three's Company type miscommunication/misunderstandings. Not my speed. Can't recommend.

Perfect Ride is a story of professional bull rider, Garett Anderson. He walks into the next competition ready for the rides and the potential prize money. He is also ready and in desperate need for a man, any man, to warm his bed and give him a ride between or over the sheets. Chancing upon Cole Richards, he thinks he finds the man who can temporarily slake his base needs.

What he did not expect was to find a man who may be someone he could cherish. Love. These things he never ever thought he could have. The suddenness of this event is as unexpected as it is life altering.

Cole's work was to make sure the prized bull in his care is spoiled. His meeting Garett was supposed to be a one-night-stand thing, but walking into the bull pen and getting shot was not part of his plans and it complicates his relationship (if there really was one) with Garett. It was also not in his plans to get tangled up in a crime. Life has just suddenly gotten convoluted and he does not know if he can ride this one out or even come out alive.

The relationship between Cole and Garett can only be described as unromantic. There was nary a chance of romance going on here. What this was, was it was HOT! It was erotic! It was fierce!

Not romantic.

Well, not the romance we are all expecting to read like something sappy and cheesy and giving us the required and necessary HEA.

This is a different read, I must admit. Something that I thought at first was just plain old erotica. I was really ready to downgrade this until the story started to develop and the events started to unfold. The plot got a bit complicated with the twists and turns.

Then there were the scenes of the bull riding competition which were so graphic and really, really gory that I cringed and gasped at the turn of events. Then again, I have seen worse on YouTube and yes, the graphic-ness here is glossed over. That upped my interest for this read.

Also there was Garrett. His unexpected behaviour towards the younger riders kept my curiosity at an even and cool level. Although this was not followed up by the authors, it does leave the readers to think twice and come up with eleven.

This is the first book of the Ridden Hard series. It says so in the title. Knowing this, I did not get frustrated when the story ended and left some things hanging. There is more to come from these two authors. There is more to come from Garett's and Cole's changed lives. Their lives' adventure has only just begun.

Whatever will come next?

REVIEW: I know that I’m going to like a book when it starts out strong and this one certainly filled the bill. Right out of the gate, I could tell that the authors knew the PBR (Professional Bull Riding) Circuit very well or had done a fair amount of research into the sport. The nuances that they were able to capture about their setting were amazing and it made the characters leap off the page for me as I settled in for a hot read. The two main characters, Cole and Garrett, are a hot couple from the get go. Cole Richards is young and comes from a wealthy family whose farm breeds bulls but Cole is not welcome at home, having been kicked out by his homophobic father when he refuses to marry.
Garrett Anderson is a hard muscled, bad ass, black bull rider who has had to put up with enough guff in his life just due to the color of his skin in a white dominated profession. He’s tough as nails and as he rides the bulls, traveling around the country looking for like minded men for quick sexual hook ups in a homophobic setting, danger is always around the corner but the reader gets the idea that one of those tremendous fists on Garrett could bring down anyone questioning his sexuality in no time. But at this point in life, Garrett’s body is feeling its age. In his early thirties, he’s beginning to wonder if his titles, trophies, and belts are a thing of the past.

The two men meet and then embark on a too short journey of sizzling hot sex, truncated by Cole getting shot while tending a bull owned by the man he works for, Spitfire. When Cole ends up in the hospital shot in the side, and Spitfire ends up drugged, a mystery ensues. The book was not heavy on the mystery aspect. It was pretty easy to figure out who did it but the only reason I took off a half star was because, there was no good wrap up with rationalization for the drugging of the bull by the primary bad guy at the end of the book. I was left asking, “… and… why?”

That said, Garrett watching Cole get injured and then revealing his feelings for the young man to himself, and Cole watching Garrett’s predicament later, revealing his feelings for the older hunky bull rider, was very fun and I truly enjoyed the skill that the authors used in putting it all together and making it work for me.

The sex in the book is off the charts hot, if not frequent enough for me, but with two injured men… well, I give the authors a pass. I would highly recommend this book to anyone, those unfamiliar with these authors or huge fans. For one, I intend to look for their future releases. I truly enjoyed this book!

Perfect Ride is the perfect start to the Ridden Hard series. There is plenty of action in this novella to keep you engaged from start to finish, and not all the action is between the sexy cowboys. In Perfect Ride we meet Garrett and Cole. Garrett is a professional bull rider and Cole is on the team responsible for Spitfire, THE bull to ride at this rodeo. Luckily for Cole (and us), Spitfire isn’t the only thing Garrett wants to ride and that was a scorching scene indeed.

Make no mistake though, there is more to this novella than hot cowboy lovin’. Garrett and Cole find themselves drawn to one another, but events at the rodeo prevent them from knocking boots again as one of our cowboys finds himself on the wrong end of a gun. This does, however, give them time to consider their feelings internally but neither express them before one must move onto the next rodeo while the other is forced to stay and recuperate in the hospital. As they begin to admit their feelings to themselves, they reunite and the authors give us another gun stand-off to ramp up the action. Do our cowboys get a happy ending? You’ll have to read a Perfect Ride to find out for yourself.

Ms. LeFoy and Ms. Sadler have produced a well-written novella for their new series, Ridden Hard. It’s a quick read filled with cowboys (yum), romance, rodeo intrigue, hot sex, and flying bullets. If you’re in the mood for some hot cowboy loving, give it a read – I doubt you’ll be disappointed.

3.5*

You can expect all what the blurb said, there is action, two main characters, whom you wish happiness and other characters you´ll want to smack over the head or worse ;) .

Garrett and Cole have great chemistry, the sex is hot and the longing for each other palpable through the book. I had troubles when Garrett leaves town. While you see how Garrett actually struggles with his decision leaving Cole behind I didn´t feel the heartbreak Cole was supposed to go through. It could have had more emotions, struggles,… in it, but it only scratched the surface, for me at least.

I really liked the solution of Garrett´s struggles regarding his bull riding career. Not only were his thoughts and why he had problems believable but how he dealt with them was satisfying. On the other hand was the end to Cole´s fight with his Dad too easy. At least I wished there were more conversations involved because his Dad was just awful. Cole deserved better than this.

Nonetheless this story did hold my interest. It´s a short enjoyable read, fast paced sometimes too rushed with a HFN ending. I would love to see more of this couple and how their relationship develops.

A copy of the ebook was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

I love a story with sexy as hell cowboys..love these characters Cole is a sexy, hardworking guy who wants his fathers love and acceptance and a lover who will treat him right. Garrett is a sexy bull rider who thinks it might be time to retire, he loves the sport but not being alone and missing out on having someone to care about him. Love these two together, they were perfect together and so darn sexy right from the start, I love how the author wrote their separation, you just knew they were pinning for each other and both knew they met their other half. The secondary characters were great, I wanted to slap them all (which was the point..lol) although some hurt and worry and sadness happened to these characters they fought for what they want and they went for it...love a sexy HEA. 4 stars review by Nanee at upallnightreadallday.blogspot.com

I received a copy of Eva Lefoy and Shiloh Sadler’s Perfect Ride and enjoyed it very much, living a few miles from Wyoming, the main setting of the novella. The two MCs, Garrett and Cole, are connected to the world of bull riding, a very dangerous sport, as we find out. Both also had issues to overcome before they could try for a HEA. I thought the authors resolved Garrett’s fear of connection and career issue in a clever, meaningful way. Both characters are very likeable, which enhanced the story. I recently read a story where one of the MCs was a villain previously, so I could not really root for him. The line between good and evil is fairly clear-cut in the novella, with just enough ambiguity to keep it interesting. A fun fast read.

Anyone who knows me knows how much I like cowboys. I don't care their sexual orientation, I just love them! Garrett and Cole are very likable cowboys who I rooted for throughout the entire book. Before I forget to, I wanted to say that for a short book, there was a lot packed in there. Love, suspense, drama, hot-sexy cowboys and more hot-sexy cowboys. This book like most short books irks me because I wish they were longer. Perhaps the next one will be! I give this book 3 Hearts!

I really liked this book! In fact this book was the first M-M romance book that I read and is what has started my enjoyment of more M-M books. Before this book I had read books that had M-M relationships and/or sexual encounters but also contained M-F relationships as well and often were the main relationship in the books. So I owe a thanks to authors Eva Lefoy and Shiloh Saddler for offering me this book and opening my eyes to the enjoyment of M-M relationships.

the writing was not at all bad, but the plot was meh. it also read like it was meant to be twice as long...or maybe it's just me and the fact that but that's just me.

Enjoyed the bull riding and the who-dunnit element, wasn't so keen on Cole and Garrett, didn't get into their heads so little connection to them.
Quick pacy read, fairly short but packed a lot in!

Again, this is a rarity in the inexcusably whitewashed M/M romance genre: it is an interracial romance featuring a lead character of colour. Other reviewers may ignore this aspect, but as a reader who's constantly seeking diversity in my reading, pointing this out is important.

Normally I'm not a big cowboy hero fan, but how on earth could I resist a hunky black cowboy? Historically speaking, most WERE black but one would never know that considering the massive historical erasure. The story was short, sexy (though with the annoying insta-love trope). The author seems to have a good grasp of the professional bull riding circuit. Garrett and Cole had good chemistry, and I actually liked how unapologetic Garrett (the black professional bull rider) was about being an ever bigger anomaly than just his colour--he was out.
