War can tear a man into pieces and Fleet Captain Del Moreton knows first hand what bombs and savagery can do to humanity. Strange, then, that he should arrive at Harbury Hall, a place where horror lurks beneath the stately rooms and elegant grounds. A place where a catacomb of laboratories houses the kind of science that could only emanate from nightmares, and the silent screams of human guinea pigs never reach past the thick stone walls of their cells. Dr. Merrill Ringwood is creating one such nightmare – a new substance that could literally blow the world away in an instant… Harbury is shaken, as is Del, by the constant subterranean rumblings of Ringwood’s experiments. But an unexpected guest brings an even greater shock and the result will change Del’s world forever.

I'm really rather boring... Honestly. I live a pretty hum-drum life as a wife and mother. I shop at the local supermarket and use coupons now and again. See? Boring stuff.

I live in Virginia now, so I am learning all kinds of new things - such as being able to buy beer and wine along with bread and toothpaste. Wow!

Having been born and raised in England, I do possess a well-developed feel for the English countryside. Comes in handy for those Regency tales.
Even though I was transplanted over to the US side of the Atlantic, I still have ties to all things Brit. I bake sausage rolls and make Christmas pudding. You can take the girl out of England, but not England out of the girl, I guess.

I'm not sure anyone can write really well unless they read. A lot. I read anything and everything these days. And mostly on my couch with a book on my knees. Yes, the technology is out there for electronic versions, but there's not much to compare with a shiny new hardcover from a favorite author.

This is the second book in the Asylum for the Mechanically Insane. These books MUST be read in order as the books build upon each other. It is a serial of steampunk, horror, and romance.

Captain Moreton has been sent to recuperate and observe what is being accomplished by the scientists at Harbury Hall in regards in airships. While there he again meets his one true love, Mrs. Vivienne Stanton-Foley, now a widow and mistress to an Indian warlord, Thakur Sahib Kerala. Kerala wants to see what his money is being spent on at Harbury Hall's laboratories. Dr. Ringwood has been working on an explosive device that Kerala wants to take back to India. Ringwood, however, has other ideas about how to use this device--ideas about how much more money he could get for it.

I like the heroic characters in Destruction. Captain Moreton is a hero who should not be alive but somehow he survived. I like Vivienne. She knows she must do what she can to survive in this world. She also knows her choices did not make her popular and lives with the choices she made. Now it looks like she and the Captain may be able to change the course of their lives.

Again Portia and Inspector Burke are investigating what is happening at Harbury Hall and how much the current Lord and Lady have to do with the disappearances and deaths that are happening there. Portia's connection to the prisoner also strengthens and she is determined to free him. Again the villains are hiss-worthy here. Dr. Ringwood and Thakur Sahib Kerala deserve each other. Creepy!

I look forward to book 3.

Ms. Kelly has jumped across oceans to bring us her new series in Gothic Horror. What happens underneath Harbury Hall is nothing but pure deviant manner. Harnessing magic from men, and evil weaponry, to air support for nefarious deeds? This is not a romance. Let me clarify that. This is NOT a romance. Although there are some delectable scenes that grow into steamy, hot sex that leave you believing that this could, perhaps, come to ending in romance. Do not let yourself dwell there as there are many, many more evil twisted deeds coming. *shivering with anticipation*
