Well written. Fast paced. Good characters. I really like British writers. And I enjoyed the book. My only complaint is that it was not long enough. I would read this author again.
I enjoyed reading this book and couldn't work out any of the ending. I am glad that I have been introduced to the author. Now on to book 3 in the series.
The Pact - A Parva Corocoran Suspense Thriller by John L Probert
Rating **** 3.75/5
The Pact is set in a exclusive Boarding School for girls in the wilds of Wales, St. Miranda's College. Due to some suspicious events and circumstances, Dr Parva Corcoran, a policewoman is sent undercover to investigate.
I won't spoil the plot of the novella as I found the description of the event quite impacting without being gory. It was quite fast paced, spooky and with a number of engaging characters. I particularly liked Parva; well educated but very down to earth. Emily, was quite a personality; interesting and very believable, feisty but slightly immature. The killer, for me, could have done with more depth as could have the final scenes. However, I enjoyed the John L Probert's style, especially the way he ended his chapters which led the reader turning the next page to find what would be unfolding. It was apparent that the Author has a medical background which was well written into the novel.
On the whole, I did enjoy the suspense and humour in The Pact and would continue to read more of John L Probert's works, especially those featuring Parva Corcoran.
