Although born in New Orleans, I am proud to call myself an Alaskan. I have lived here for 37 years, I have survived -40 degrees, hauled water, made bear bacon and live in a cabin. I used a fish wheel to catch salmon coming up the Copper River. I was my second husband's chief mechanic's helper and only roadie. I cut firewood on shares, worked as a cocktail waitress, then as a paralegal for over 26 years. I hold the #80 press card as a reporter for the Copper Valley Views newspaper which ceased publication in the 1980s. I've been writing stories since junior high. Retired now, I can devote my time to what I love.
I came to Alaska by way of Arizona and California. I experienced the building of the pipeline up close. Then my second husband and I moved to Wasilla to get warm. It hardly ever drops past -25 in South Central Alaska. I never thought I would love it so much I never want to leave. The beauty of Alaska is a draw I cannot resist. I love the people and the history. I have been captured by a place I came to under duress. Life does play some interesting tricks on one. I lost my first husband to alcohol. My second husband, the love of my life died as a result of disease. We were not apart more than 24 hours for 20 plus years . I never wanted to be anywhere but with him. He was a man to run the river with.

Family

This is a beautiful, suspenseful story of love and family. Red will learn more about herself and so will PR. This will bring you into the heart of Alaska from an author that truly knows. Get ready for your trip to Alaska and what it's really like there and enjoy the icy fire filled ride. I loved this book so much and now must read the next.

Great steamy romance tinged with a hint of Northern Exposure-style quirkiness. Interesting characters, PR and Brenda, look for love in a unique setting. The grandeur and beauty of the Alaskan countryside is part of what gives this story a little something extra. Even more than that is the wonderful way in which the ethnic and cultural context enlivens their tale. Not just the history and traditions of the indigenous people that populate the area and the novel, but the adventurous spirit of the outsiders who chose to make Alaska their home. The author's use of detail and description really grounds the story in every day life that is ordinary in many ways, but surprising, and even extraordinary at other times. Some of those details are poignant, a little bizarre and funny all at the same time--like how PR got his name and why he prefers to use initials. In fact, there's a lot to like in the PR's family and other secondary characters, including Brenda's coworkers at the law firm where she's employed. Fans of steamy romance will find a fresh take on the hunky male in pursuit of the woman of his dreams in this book. Challenges and obstacles to over come, too--like Brenda's royally ticked off and unscrupulous ex-boyfriend. Will they figure it out? You'll have to read the book yourself to find out. FIVE STARS

Stalking Red is a dream of a book. The story of PR and Brenda is a fun relaxing read. Everything about it makes me think of the Alaskan setting. Nothing was hurried, nothing rushed, and even the stalking of red was given the same meticulous timing and attention to detail. I especially like the fight scene with the Gramps, it's hilarious, done Alaskan style—no guns drawn, and the traditional Athabaskan weddings, yes, there were two, toped it off. Alaskan romance... Enjoyable read!
