Armed with determination and the $800 he has saved by working for the Garden Center, our strong, handsome hero goes off to little King City College where he thinks he is a student with a working scholarship, but is actually the groundskeeper. Wilbur does attend a few classes and is pursued by a red-headed teacher, Miss Beasley, who wants to teach him Applied Biology at night. His peculiar brand of English does cause the professors to "strangle over theirselves," but he makes lots of friends, unwittingly saves the colleg from a crooked public relations director and himself from seduction by aforementioned Miss Beasley (I seen that what she slipped into that was comfortable was the bed). A humorous, delightful tale about our staid academic halls.
