”blackness had been consuming me—clouds of ominous turmoil cast over me that followed me wherever I went—but for whatever reason, whenever Freya was near, I forgot I was being rained on.”

❥ forced proximity
❥ bodyguard hero
❥ protective hero
❥ family betrayal
❥ dislike to love
❥ trauma rep

this is the author's debut novel and to say that it sets the tone on a very promising start is an euphemism. the plot is so thoughtfully woven through the narrative with unexpected twists and turns, and a delightful “aversion to love” romance.

when Freya's father vanishes after a mysterious work trip, the family's financial woes worsen. with their home on the verge of being repossessed due to unpaid debts, Freya and her mother are forced to seek refuge at her mother's best friend's house. unbeknownst to Freya, this friend's son is an attractive and intimidating bodyguard who has just moved in. as they navigate this new living arrangement, how will they walk through the challenges of cohabitation and the secrets that lie beneath?

I absolutely adored how the protagonists were at the antipodes of each other, making a perfect contrast and balance in their relationship. the book has some swooning and moving moments, particularly from Kaleb, the male protagonist, as he protects and searches for Freya, and from her as she tends to his wounds when he's injured. a significant subplot orbits around what happened to Freya's father, and the way it all converges by the end in an untangled web is honestly brilliant. all in all, It was a high-adrenaline kind of read with a perfectly orchestrated romance.

many thanks to the author for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

When the author reached out for an ARC read, I WAS SO EXCITED lol. He falls first, bodyguard, angst, drama...count me in! While the overall concept was definitely there, unfortunately this wasn't the book for me. The pacing was a bit choppy, and I personally didn't feel that connected to the characters. I also felt like the plot and mystery element were slightly underwhelming. Though I loved the combination of romance and suspense! And a bodyguard. Always love a bodyguard.

Thank you so much to Lottie Moore for sending me an ARC of Law of Love. As always, my reviews are one hundred percent voluntary and all opinions are my own :)

This was a solid debut novel that I thoroughly enjoyed. I was honestly VERY enthralled during the first few chapters because the story hooked me in & the short chapters made the book feel fast paced. However idk if it was just me feeling a little slumpy or if it was the book itself, but just before the halfway mark it kinda lost its flow & it took a bit of effort for me to stay focused on the story.

There are enough twists and turns to keep you on your toes, & at one point I was literally suspicious of everyone. I actually would’ve liked for some of the scenes to have been dragged out a little bit because SO much was happening in such a short time which was kinda confusing & it just felt like the story was being rushed. But overall it was a good book 👏🏼

Freya was hardworking, brave, always up for a challenge & walked with her head held high. Kaleb was grumpy reserved, protective and jealous🤭 he’s also tattooed, tall and a broody bodyguard😩 HOT.

There was immediate tension & animosity between them which had me kicking my feet wildly in the air! I just wish that this lasted a little longer because I genuinely REALLY loved their dynamic at the start but it fizzled out too quickly when they were practically an item a few chapters in. The jealousy from both of them was great & I loved watching Freya & Hannah scheming to try to get under Kalebs skin🤭

𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞: forced proximity, bodyguard romance, touch her and die, hate to love

Thank you to Lottie for the arc in exchange for my honest review💚

This was a really good hate to love romance between a bodyguard (though not her bodyguard) and our heroine who's father was missing after making her family go bankrupt. She and her mother have to move in with his mom, who is her mom's best friend, and he's home for the holidays, so they're living in the same roof. I did really enjoy the suspense and mystery in here and trying to uncover what happened to her dad while the hero was working on a case on his own that was dangerous. I really enjoyed their chemistry and was hooked until the end!

I forgot to post me review whoops but I really loved and enjoyed this one!

Liked all the characters and the story flowed very well! Lottie has a very easy readable and fun writing style that sucks you into the story🥹 The banter and humor between the characters was also top notch! The plot itself was executed perfectly with some twists here and there and everything falling in to place at the end!

Loved the short chapters as well and, for me, it was very hard to put this one down! Once I started reading, I couldn't stop.

The tropes were also executed perfectly. The instant attraction, the disliking to loving each other🥰 The bodyguard that wants to protect his girl, amazing! The forced proximity😏
The characters were so fun to read about and they complimented each other perfectly! They were opposites in every way but still worked beautifully together😍

Can't recommend this one enough!!

this book honestly blew me away. when lottie reached out to me to read an early copy of law of love i did not expect it to put me through the emotional turmoil that it did!

law of love is the perfect broody bodyguard romance. it follows freya + kaleb who unexpectedly cross paths one day and are immediately drawn to each other. however, kaleb leads a dark and dangerous life that freya inevitably gets sucked into, landing her in deep trouble.

kaleb is so romantic, dark + protective. i physically couldn't cope with how perfect he was — not to mention his dirty mouth... their love story was so beautiful, touching on subjects of trauma and healing, which in parts resonated so much with me.

i couldn't recommend this book enough, it was truly amazing!thank you so much to lottie for the arc. this is definitely one of my top reads this year!

first of all, a huge thank you to lottie for contacting me and asking if i’d like an e-arc of her upcoming, debut novel “law of love”. i was immediately intrigued because bodyguard romance?? enemies to lovers?? touch her & you die vibes?? YES. YES. YES. “law of love” releases on 31/08/24 💚

( i just want to preface this by saying that i am not talking down on this author and her work! )

this book had so much potential! the plot was a good, interesting concept but the execution wasn’t quite there! it was a bit far-fetched. that being said, it was still entertaining & a quick, easy read! i would definitely recommend to new readers & to fans of romance lovers with a side of mystery in it!

i can definitely see lottie doing so well in her writing career but this was just wasn’t for me! i wish there was more pining, more angst between kaleb & freya. the “enemies” to lovers was more like a dislike between two strangers.

i did enjoy learning about the characters, they both had their own traumas to deal with & it was heartwarming to see them both lean on each other for support🫶🏽

I recently had the pleasure of receiving an ARC of Lottie Moore’s debut novel, Law of Love. This book had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish! The characters are so vividly portrayed that I couldn’t help but feel giddy with excitement. Kaleb is fiercely protective of Freya, to the point where “Touch her and die” is a very real threat.

The character development is truly heartwarming, as both Kaleb and Freya help each other grow and become better versions of themselves. The story is packed with action and unexpected twists that kept me guessing until the very end. If you’re looking for a thrilling read with a perfect blend of romance and suspense, Law of Love is a must-read!

Law of Love is being released on August 31st - you can currently pre order it on kindle, paperback being added soon. Link in my bio for easy access.

Rating 3.5 ⭐️ rounded up xxx

Preorder now for 31st August release!

What a great debut novel from Lottie!
This was everything you’d expect in a broody bodyguard romance. It has the grumpy bodyguard, the sunshine artist, the tension, the angst, forced proximity. Everything.

This story follows Freya, and her mum, who unfortunately due to an unknown debt in her fathers name, had their house repossessed and had to move in with Freya’s mum’s best friend and you guessed it… her son. Kaleb Evan’s.. 🥵

This man is hot. He’s tall, he’s broody, he’s tattooed! Everything you could want in an MMC.

He’s so protective over Freya I am obsessed, especially when she’s so down on herself.

There’s a few twists and turns in this story which involve her father and the underworld, which kept me entertained as well!

I’m really excited to see where Lottie’s writing takes her in the future and will read her ARC’s again in the future x

Tropes include:
- Grumpy x Sunshine
- Bodyguard
- Forced Proximity
- Kidnapping
- “She’s mine”

I had the pleasure of ARC reading and let me tell you, this book consumed me! I legit read it in one sitting and can’t believe this is her debut novel!

I was hooked from the get go and loved the suspense element in addition to the romance. It really kept me on the edge of my seat.

When Freya’s dad goes missing, and she and her mum are evicted from their home they go to stay with a friend and her son, Kaleb, a grumpy government bodyguard who is currently home for the Christmas Break. Kaleb has his own issues, hes living with the guilt from something that happened in his past and the last thing he wants is to be around Freya and her drama. But there’s only so long you can avoid one another for when you share the same living space and it’s not long before they realise it’s much more of a love rather than hate relationship.

Kaleb Evans! ! This man!!!! He’s protective, obsessive, will literally kill for you and could get an Olympic gold in dirty talk! The tension and angst between him and Freya was utter perfection and the spice was chefs kiss!

Will definitely be reading more by this author.

This book was so good! This being Lottie’s debut novel sets such a beautiful stage for her career, she has an amazing writing style and her storytelling is lovely!

It has been some time since I’ve read a bodyguard romance but I forgot how much I loved them, specially the slow burn. Freya and Kaleb were so cute together, i loved how he changed for her and it was the she fell first but he fell harder trope. Also the touch her and you die trope was executed to perfection. My favorite moments were definitely between Freya and Kaleb. They had a chemistry that was palpable and felt through these pages. I also loved how the tension was built on and it wasn’t rushed. It was an enemies to lovers experience that i truly loved. I can’t wait for everyone to love these characters and this story!

Freya my girl!! she was so sweet, caring and selfless. She also had moments that allowed you to see how strong willed and determined she was. I felt like i could relate to some of her personality traits and insecurities. My favorite part was definitely getting to see her growth and how she worked on fighting through her traumas. I also loved that she was an artist and was so talented, it made me think of how i love to paint!

KALEB… the man that you are. He was HOT that can summarize it. Who doesn’t love a protective, secretly only has a soft spot for you mmc?! sign me up..I loved his character since the start since he was very multifaceted. He also experience some trauma and worked through it which was inspiring to see. It made me think of how even in the darkest time we find someone to inspire us to do better. (Freya for Kaleb)

Reading his book made me feel so lucky. It was an amazing love story full of action packed, bittersweet and turbulent twists and turns!

Context-
Freya’s dad mysteriously disappears one day leaving her family in debt. Due to this Freya and her mom must move in to her mother’s best friend’s house and while this is unexpected what is even a bigger surprise is her having an attractive bodyguard son. This story is filled with tension, love, betrayal and so many tropes that will keep you turning pages and asking questions.

Thank you so much to the author for reaching out and allowing me to read this ARC! It was an honor getting to meet your characters before anyone else.🤍

Another book couple for me to obsess over? Absolutely!!! I loved this book, the writing is so easy to read, and the pacing was great. The plot is well thought out with some surprises along the way .

I felt instantly connected to Kaleb and Freya. Their interactions were a joy to read and they had sizzling chemistry. The tension and build up was everything which made for some open door scenes that had me sweating (in particular one involving some handcuffs😮‍💨).

I’m an absolute sucker for a bodyguard romance and this one hit the spot perfectly. Kaleb was all the things we love about a book boyfriend. Grumpy and stern with a touch of arrogance.

On top of the romance there’s some action packed scenes that added extra dynamic to the story and kept me on my toes.

I throughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it if you’re looking for an easy to read, steamy romance.

Thank you Lottie for sending me and arc for law of love 🫶🏻 A big congrats to you on writing your debut novel !! This one absolutely didn’t read like a debut novel >> the writing style was so so good and some of the quotes in this book was just perfection ✨

These characters felt so so real to me and the protectiveness they had for each other was just everything. There were a lot of struggles and trauma for both characters and between the characters which made their story even better 🥹

Ending this review with some quotes 💌

“We were opposites, and yet, it felt as if we fit perfectly together—like a jigsaw created where the picture was up to interpretation, but was beautiful when you took the time to really look at it.”

The next quote has a small spoiler >> but oh how it made me swoon

“That’s where you’re fucking wrong, Freya. I will wait forever, and when forever ends, I’ll wait after that. If you aren’t ready in eighty years and we’re nothing but bones in the soil under people’s feet, it doesn’t matter because I’ll be patient well into the afterlife. One day, you’ll fully accept me again, whether in this lifetime or the next, and as long as I get to call you mine, it’ll be worth it.”

When Lottie contacted me through bookstagram, asking if I wanted to recieve the ARC for Law of Love, of course, I said yes. Bodyguard romance? Count me in.

I was so hooked into this book since the first pages. The tension between Freya and Kaleb was everything. I found myself giggling and kicking my feet over them multiple times. I was so invested. Kaleb's nickname for her? My little artist. Im dead 😫

I absolutely fell in love with both of our main characters and I was rooting for them. Kaleb Evans was everything to me. He was the perfect, grumpy man but so caring at the same time. I need me a man like Kaleb Evans 🧎‍♀️

There was romance and spice but this book also had a plot that was suspenful and kept me hooked. This book was just perfect in every way and I would give it 6 stars if I could.

This was my first time reading an e-book but I absolutely loved this and I need it in physical copy as well. I'll be reading everything from Lottie from now on. Thank you so much for the ARC 💚

This one is definitely for those of you who love a bodyguard x action movie vibe! You have Kaleb, a bodyguard working for a private organization, who is the grumpiest of grumps. He sees Freya as off-limits because his stay is temporary, but boy oh boy, does Freya want him—AND BAD. 😏

If you love action-packed stories, this is for you. The entire storyline is filled with shooting ranges, law enforcement drama, secret spying, and that intense "involving her was a mistake” dynamic where all he wants to do is protect her💚🫶

I realized that this type of book isn't for me, but I'm glad I had the opportunity to read it and experience it! I know others will absolutely love it!!!! And is her debut novel!

Tropes:

4.5- Thank you to Lottie Moore for sending me an arc of her novel ! I cannot believe this was a debut novel it definitely didn’t read like one, I was entranced from beginning to end! Not only did it have the relationship I was hoping for, but was action packed keeping me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. I loved the realness of these characters as they struggled with grief, trauma, and anger but used those emotions to propel themselves further and leading them to one another. I have to be in a mood to read a romance where the romance is the plot but I appreciated how the romance was part of the plot but it wasn’t THE plot in this book but it added so much richness to the overall story. Freya and Kaleb’s chemistry was great and Freya is such a strong character and Kaleb.. is just a dream period. Although different than books I have read, I can said I thouroughly enjoyed this one and look forward to watching this author develop and reading more of her books in the future.

When Lottie reached out to me & I read the blurb for this book, I immediately knew it was going to be amazing!

This bodyguard, action packed romance book is everything!!!! The plot, the spice, the characters, the twist… everything was written just perfectly.

Kaleb & Freya have become a favourite couple of mine. Kaleb’s need to protect Freya is unmatched. Touch her and you die goes was beyond here… it’s more like be within 10 feet of her and you die🫠. The things Freya went through in the past & continued to go through while building her relationship with Kaleb was insane. She’s one of the strongest female characters I’ve read!

Lastly, the spice guys. HOLY SHIT. 10/10!😍

READ THIS IMMEDIATELY!!!!

I absolutely adored this book! It had just the perfect amount of plot and sexual tension. It's been a while since I've read a bodyguard romance
You follow Freya, who is an art student and Kaleb, who is a bodyguard/cop. Freya gets thrown into a difficult situation where she is put into Kaleb's life. You can feel the tension from the beginning with the teasing and hus snide remarks. But nothing stops him from being there for her when she is in trouble. She's had a few unlucky events that have led her to rely on others. But she's also grown as a person because of him

I give 3 stars but that doesn't mean I didn't like it, I just think the story wasn't for me ✨

i really liked the plot, only i didn't particularly feel the 'enemies to lovers' trope, i would have preferred it to be better developed.

otherwise kaleb made me dream, I would need a bodyguard in my life too! 😮‍💨🤌🏼🤌🏼

Okay so this is a debut novel from this author But it does not read like it, the language is both beautiful and straight to the point and I loved the descriptions together with the rest of the plot! 📝

This is one actionpacked romance story! The story is captivating with a missing father, a suspicious shooting range and a creepy stalker paired with delicious romantic tension with a grumpy overprotective bodyguard. 🖤

Freya and Kaleb are a delight together, whether they are bickering, teasing each other or caring for each other. The way they saw each other and showed How worthy they were of love through patience and small heartfelt actions makes them an amazing duo. 💕

Every time I jumped back into the book I once again fell in love with the characters and got hooked on the mysteries. I loved this book and will definitely be getting a physical copy of it for my shelves!

Also did I mention she makes him beg? 🌶️

“When you’re the only thing grounding me to this earth, you’re more than worth fighting for, Freya. I’m nothing if not with you.”

This book had me hooked from the start. I couldn’t put it down! Freya is forced to move in with Kaleb after her father disappears and that’s the start of a great story full of mystery, action, plot twists and tension. The way Kaleb will do literally anything to protect Freya. I love a protective man! 😍 I really enjoyed this story and knowing that it’s Lottie’s debut novel makes me really excited for her next book!
