She’s my daughter’s nurse, ten years younger, and completely off-limits, but my heart doesn’t care.
From the moment Janie stepped into my life, she’s been a distraction I can’t afford. Her laughter fills my home, her touch sends shivers down my spine, and those cut-off shorts make me lose control.
As Pleasant Bay’s Police Chief, I’m supposed to be in control, but every glance from her makes me forget my duties.
Janie’s here to help Violet, but she’s healing parts of me I thought were long dead.
Our age gap is a constant worry, and I know everyone in town will have something to say.
But every moment with her ignites a fire I’ve tried to extinguish since Julie’s death.
Her spirit and beauty are breaking down every barrier I’ve built.
Just as I dared to dream of a future together, two pink lines shatter our fragile peace.
Now, I face a tormenting cling to the ghosts of my past or embrace the promise of a family I never imagined.

OMG this was another Fantastic book from Emily. It was a steamy page turner and the suspense was TOO HOT and intense. I was on the edge of my seat and I couldn't even put it down. As I dive deeper in this story of Lou and Janie it was sexual tension there they couldn't fight the temptation any longer. He was the chief of police and she was beautiful younger lady and they were on the course of something spicy and passion of physical romance. The chemistry between them was sensation of emotions and more. Their love was forbidden but they couldn't fight the urge to be together on that magical night where they gave into their desire and that night it had happen an unexpected surprise that will changes their lives forever. Loved it!!!!! I highly recommend this book and you won't regret reading it is worth the wait and you won't be disappointed. What a to do with Lou, Pleasant Bay’s Chief of police , widower with an adorable eight year old daughter Violet and he ought to know better but Janie who is here to help his daughter is healing parts of him he thought long dead…She lights his fire and is a life belt if he chooses to use her , to be with his forbidden love…. Well , now he’s made his bed and Janie is now pregnant after lying in his bed. Does he do the right and sane thing and wed her or choose to cling on to the ghosts of his past instead of embracing the beautiful future that lie ahead . A loving family… Great writing by Emily Anne James . A thoroughly enjoyable and engaging read.

I have been waiting for this book since things went down in the last one. I really have been enjoying this series and the police chief has always intrigued me. I knew he was a widow and had a daughter (Violet) because of the shooting. In comes Janie who seems like this amazing woman. She is helping take care of Violet and try to heal a broken household. Now, as the story continues there are feelings that come into play. I get wrestling with how you feel and what’s going on and what people will say but wow… It was a rollercoaster to follow and I can’t wait to see what else happens in this series. Always something around the corner and I am always excited to see what comes once it’s rounded
I love reading small town romance books and I loved reading about Lou and Janie, and precious little Violet, Lou’s daughter who is paralysed in a drive by shooting. This book had lots of spice and a grumpy police chief and his daughter’s live in nurse who helps Lou overcome his tragic past and move on with his life although he needs a huge wake up call for him to realise exactly what he has. Loved the book and the storyline and I loved that Emily Anne James was able to give us a story that captured your heart from the very beginning. Highly recommend.

Lou is the Chief of Police in their small town, is a widower and has an eight year old daughter who was temporarily paralyzed in a drive by shooting. Janie is about ten years younger than her than Lou, is a nurse and is the live in caretaker for Lou’s daughter Violet. Love this story and the interaction between the three main characters and also the surrounding characters. Most of all the chemistry between Lou and Janie. There is so much I could say but I’d rather you just read this book, I don’t like spoilers. 😉. The story has some ups, downs and twists. Yup I cried a few times but that ok. Enjoy the read.
Charming Her Grumpy Chief is exactly that, charming and heartfelt. Lou and Janie’s story is a single dad with nanny/nurse romance. The chemistry and connection these two have is undeniable. I love Janie’s closeness and protectiveness she has with Lou’s daughter Violet. And the willingness she has to help and heal both of them. I really love their story and how protective they are towards each other. I can’t wait to read the next one!
Lou was a chief of the police department. His daughter, Violet got shot in a ride- by shooting. She is in a wheelchair. Lou needs to have someone nurse her full time. She is eight and was eighteen months old when her mother died of cancer. Janie became Violets nurse and fell deep for Lou. Things go up and down and there needs to be some true heart to heart talks about what each are thinking of in the future.
Ok, so this one hit me on a personal level and I may have shed some tears. Lou was so awful towards Janie. He kept saying to himself that he cared for her but he treated her badly. He did apologize and their relationship progressed. I do not know if I'm spiteful but I think I would have made him beg a little more than Janie did. After saying all that, I did enjoy this story.
If you like a semi spicy small town grouchy to sunshine type of book then this is for you! I really loved this book and the characters! I love Emily Anne James’s style of writing and how you are caught up in the story in the first chapter or two! I definitely recommend!
These characters are a match made in Heaven together. I love ❤️ the storyline and the way the book comes together and ends perfectly. I found myself smiling 🙂 at times and even talking out loud like they could hear me. So, grab this great book and enjoy reading it because it’s on heck of a book.
This was Lou and Janie’s story. From the moment Janie stepped into his life, she’s been a distraction. As Pleasant Bay’s Police Chief, he’s supposed to be in control. It was an entertaining read. And voluntarily leaving this review.
This is the third book in the Pleasant Bay’s forbidden heroes series. It’s an engaging small town romance that kept me entertained from start to finish. I loved the connection and chemistry between Lou and Janie. It’s an intense heartfelt story and I enjoyed it.
After the police chief's daughter was shot, he hired a live-in nurse to care for her. Lou and Janie have such a deep connection that the chemistry between them was off the charts. However, he lets his feat dictate how he reacts to Janie's surprise, which cause some distance before they resolve their issue and have their happy ending. This was a charming story full of emotion, and the epilogue setting up the next story is highly anticipated.
