Mystery, Suspense, an edge-of-your-seat Thriller with characters you’ll fall in love with. An old-school, heart-pounding, coming-of-age Horror series with 100s of 5-Star Reviews.
Autumn had been a very troubling time for the residents of Bane County, and the arrival of winter and the holiday season was a welcome diversion. Over the past three months, twenty-six people had gone missing in the neighboring wildlife refuge, believed to have fallen victim to a vicious rogue bear.
Bryce McNeel and Jackson Campbell knew the truth about the missing people and worried that the horrors of autumn wouldn’t end with the coming of winter. In truth, they both sensed that something far worse was on the way.
With a massive winter storm bearing down on Bane County, Bryce and Jackson feared they’d be fighting more than just the wintry cold. There could be things more chilling than ice and snow in the approaching storm.
Far to the west, another kind of storm was brewing. A storm of unspeakable horror the likes of which had never been seen. The evil that had been living in the dark forests of Bane County for centuries was now free, and the world would never be the same again.

Wow. Where to begin. This whole series has been awesome!! Best werewolf book(s) I've read so far. Very talented author. I am so looking forward to additional books in this series.
Finally! A werewolf series where the werewolves actually enjoy devouring people down to the bone-hell, they probably eat the bones too-instead of crying around about it afterwards. I've devoured the first three books in this series and I'll dang sure devour the next one and so on. Bring on the beasts! Twilight werewolves need not apply.
Oh man.....I am really into this series! Number Four coming up! Keep up the great work I am thoroughly enjoying this! I can't wait to find out what happens next! Thankyou!:-)
I really enjoyed all three of JR Rice's books. Book three is certainly a page-turner, I enjoyed how two storylines were told side by side, with the Sonoma County investigations as well as Bane County's problem. The night of the blackout was fantastic, Jackson's humour is great as always, and it was nice to see Bryce's attitude turning from Mr. Science and Logic to Mr. Kick Ass all in one night. I can't wait for the next one!
Thank you for a well written horror novel that held my attention. I had almost lost hope for the genre expecting a steamy teenage romance novel disguised as a horror novel. I was pleasantly disappointed.
The book cover intrigued me to open it and read the contents of the book, because well wolves...who wouldn’t. It’s the journey this author takes into creating such a masterpiece. You want to know how werewolves started read this series. First Moon takes you back to Bane County and it’s the holiday season Bryce and Jackson are very aware of what is causing the disappearance of town folks. But now they don’t have to just compete with the wolves the virus has mutated to human form and now all HELL is breaking loose. I love the way JR Rain has introduced a different take on werewolves and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. I am so pumped right now!
Anyone who loves a good werewolf book, look no further this will be an intense ride!
Good continuation of previous books. Has a good fear factor and characters are developed well enough to root for them. Leaves you wanting more. Excited for the next installment!
Another very good part of this epic saga. One note to the author ; you made me literally laugh out loud in book three with a reference to the first annual holiday event by a specific radio station in the Midwest
This is book 3 in the Bane County Series. I’m loving it! Each book gets better and better. If you love werewolves and things that go bump in the night, then this series is for you!
I apologize for not posting a review or rating on book 2. You can thank either Amazon or GoodReads, for "difficulties". This has turned into a really really good series in my opinion. Now need to finish the Bane County books and then the spin off.
J R Rice is a very talented writer, I have been eagerly waiting on red installment of this series, it was everything I was hoping it would be and more!
This book like the others is a great read.Characters are believable, funny and down to earth. But what I loved about it like the others is the mystery, the the thinking behind it all...Great job JR
I have read all three books so far in the series so far and I loved them all! Truth be told I am upset that I finished this one so soon. I can't wait for the next one.
this series is turning into a real page turner. not gonna give away too much but now the whole usa is in trouble. looking for a long set to read this is a great choice.
After book 2 ended I thought book 3 was going to be another man-turns-into-werewolf story, which I'm soooo tired of, but boy was I wrong. This was a dual story that weaved together beautifully throughout the book. J.R. is really good with character building. Even those folks that popped in just to be 'puppy chow' were an interesting read. I even felt for them. I've already started book 4 and bought book 5. If you're looking for a good werewolf story with REAL werewolves than buy this series. You might even leave the outside lights on at night. ;)
The third novel in this series continues with a fantastic plot and characters. The pace of the story is amazing and the action never slows down. The series is a great read. Can’t wait to continue the adventure.
I have been following this author from the first moon book to the last. They scared the living daylight out of me! Really looking forward for the next one. This author makes it seem so real!
This third installment of the series is great! It has a natural progression that expands the story in a satisfying and logical manner. I love the fact that scientific storylines are being utilized to further the story progression. I also love that it begins to move outside of Bane County and into the rest of the world. Well done!!
Best Werewolf series I’ve ever read by far. Nothing else even compares to it. Most series with werewolves are super cheesy and severely lack in the horror aspect of things. JR Rice definitely DOES NOT. These books are quite creepy and most certainly page turners. On to book 4. Highly recommended!
Third book in the series Ive read and they keep getting better and better. All the things coming together, the action, the emotions. Well done, very well done!
Holy Crap , just Holy Crap , J R Rice just turned the world upside down.. he has brought serious problems into the town of Silver Canyon .. power is out, telephone out, internet out, cellphone out..and then darkness falls over the town , and then screaming , so much screaming then quietness.. then more screaming . The pattern over and over until daylight , blood everywhere but no bodies .. yeah that just happened.. cant wait for book 4
At first I was feeling separation anxiety with the idea that one more novel and we say good bye to Bane County. I guess it might happen that way. If Hungry Moon is the end then a potentially good apocalyptic tale might never happen. Decisions, decisions, decisions..........
