Mystery, Suspense, an edge-of-your-seat Thriller with characters you’ll fall in love with. An old-school, heart-pounding, coming-of-age Horror Series with 1,000s of 5-Star Reviews.

In this fifth installment of the Bane County Series, we pick up where Book Four left off:

The citizens of Silver Canyon awake to find Bane County under CDC quarantine for fear of a viral outbreak. The National Guard has placed roadblocks at the Carantina River bridge, effectively sealing off the large river-island.

The beasts are growing more intelligent, threatening the small town in ways never seen before. Bryce and Jackson, along with Sheriff Culley, are struggling desperately to find new tools to combat the hideous creatures.

Farther west, along the coast of northern California, Travis and Luther have been relieved of duty after setting fire to the old Noone House. The beast that was Richard Cain escaped, and is still on the loose, as the two men use unconventional methods to continue the chase.

The eyes of the covert organization known as Failsafe remain on the people of Bane County. Fearing a viral threat to the nation, they weigh their options heavily.

With Bane County now effectively isolated from the rest of the world, and the CDC at a standstill, unable to make progress with the dangerous virus, a fuse has been lit to a powder keg… with nowhere left to run.

Wow!

What a ride! I have waited a year for this book and was not disappointed. The only disappointment was I read it in one sitting! I couldn't help myself. Read this series!! Just don't do in the dark!

I’m not even sure where to begin. This is like the end of an era, but also feels like just the beginning
I have read EVERY single werewolf book / series I can find, outside of the original Howling, nothing has drawn me in quite like Bane County did. Book 5 was no exception. I don’t think we see werewolf action until 50ish pages in, and I was still just zooming through the book. The whole time I’m wondering why all these nights have passed with no action. Well, we soon find out that they’re digging throughout the entire town. From here on out, it never really lets up. From Cain’s carnage across the US into Bane County, to Travis/ Luther finally arriving in Bane County.
All hell breaks loose when Cain finally does make it into Bane County (Can I just say, Woof)
The book ends with a (literal) bang as Cain and his new pack and the OG werewolves all clash with the remaining survivors. May Travis, Luther and Deke RIP.
All the story lines merging into one felt natural and flowed smoothly. And I’m so hyped we got to see more of the mysterious red eyed demon, I’ve been wondering where he might be after the short story that was released.
I’ve really only got small complaints.
One: Shortly after Cain does arrive in Bane County, it’s stated he is going to teach his new pack to hunt, but from here on out, they just spend time turning people. (How big does he want this pack)
Two: Cain’s story has spanned several books, and in the final battle, he’s nowhere to be seen. The book ends like he never existed. (I’m sure we will see him again)
Three: I have a ton of questions. How old are the BC Werewolves? Where did they come from? Why do they differ in appearance from Cain? How many are there? Who is the red eyed demon?
Why do the BC werewolves sometimes take whole victims alive, and sometimes just partial remains? Why do they always gather their own dead and what do they do with them?
However, all that being said, the entire story was great from start to finish. They complaints I have are so minor and didn’t detract from the story. I’m also sure that most if not all of my questions will be answered in future works.
JR Rice, another outstanding job, I’m very much looking forward to Dark Timber

Best werewolf horror serie

I gave this 4 stars(strong 4)😃 only because it is the end storyline and i wanted more, who is the red eyed "demon" leading the werewolf's and clearly the caracter behind their horror rampage in Bane county? I was hoping to get this answered and more details in the end of this 5th book but i really hope J.R Rice new novels pick up the tread of this caracter and his evil role. I also missed more input from Jacksons girlfriend Marianna, she and her "skills" could have added more spice to the story. Still these books are among the best in the genre i've read in a really long time and the author is really a skilled horror writer, hope for many thrilling reads in the future, he has a lojal fan in me, enjoy the read and as always, don't start with this 5th book if your new to Rice, your really missing out a great story that mixes the good old feel of real heroes, friendship, family values, good humor and of course creepy horror as it should be written

I didn't want it to end

I have never been so conflicted about an ending. Don't get me wrong, it was true to form but it was not what I was expecting. I hate that this is the last one as there were so many loose ends, but it was definitely a realistic ending. I'm going to miss Jackson, Bryce, and Fate.

I am so glad to have ran into this series. The best Werewolf series I've ever read so far. If this book ever turned into a TV or movie series, I have to say I can definitely see Dennis Quaid as Culley. Loved all the characters (even Deke)
I'm looking forward to Dark Timber, I have so many unanswered questions.

Finished this series and was so glad to see J.R. Rice continuing the story on in a new series. These characters are ones I have come to admire and love. I was glad to see they will be starring in another tale leaving Bane County behind to the werewolves. I just LOVED this series the horror was perfect and the story was very well done! I found the split of the story to be even more enhancing in anticipation of what was to come. I had a difficult time putting these books down and found myself staying up several times to finish one or two of them. The suspense and the writing in these books just kept me hooked from the very first page to the last.

Satisfying

Mr. Rice got me a little worried as the compelling story grew in extraordinary ways - but THANK YOU...the conclusion to this gripping tale was most satisfying and believable. Well done.

Good finish to the Bane County series. With Travis and Luther following the Beast that was Richard Cain to Bane County. Where they meet up with Bryce, Jackson and Cully for a final battle with the werewolves.

I have greatly enjoyed this series. This book wraps things up pretty well and in a better way than a typical storybook ending. The action is fast, exciting, and keeps you guessing. Sad to see the series come to an end, but wait....there's a spin-off series coming!

Some definite good spots.

I read all of the books. I felt like some major characters died off too easily, like Travis and Luther and Deke. Some characters felt completely abandoned for the final two books. Also, there were a number of times the storyline seemed to dead-end and a Utterly shit ending. Having said all this, I feel like there where some Hella good parts and the first book had me pissing my pants and locking doors. Plus, the writer seems super cool and relatable. The music references where absolutely on point. I will read Dark Timber. But read it yourself bitches.

Necessary but probably rushed

This was a necessary 5th and final installment to a series I've thoroughly enjoyed. However, I found that the character development superseded the plot line development and that's unfortunate. This series hands down delivered the most amazing, enthralling and terrifying depiction of werewolf I've ever witnessed in a book. And I've read countless. However, at the conclusion of book 5, there are story subplots that are never answered and I think plenty of opportunities for scenes to be unpacked and witnessed firsthand that were missed. All in all, I think the author may have suffered from their own success. Perhaps pushing this book out sooner than needed. I do thank them for their efforts and I'll be looking for their next series

WOW! I was not sure what to expect when I started this series because I'm not a "creature" reader. This series has changed that. I thoroughly enjoyed the series and getting to know the characters! Everybody in this series is so interesting and so real! The "monster" is definitely scary and the way the series is woven together and then carries on in a new series is amazing. I have read this whole series and the first book the next series featuring Jackson Campbell and I am dying that the second book doesn't come out until October 2025. NOOOOO! I have had to go on a hunt for another creature series, but none can beat this one. Hats off to JR Rice for such an incredible tale. Thank you!
