Overall, I liked it. I am glad that I got a chance to read it. The next step now will be to read the first book!
The story is cute and simple and Rennillia is charming even if her attitude is sometimes a little bit overboard. I would absolutely hate to live in her undecided mind.
Then, there are some spelling mistakes between to/too and is/his. Nothing major but I think that it is worth mentioning. English isn't my first language so anyone is able to catch them.
Also, Sophia is a very well-behaved baby. All she does is sleeping and eating. I wish my daughter was like that at her age. That would have made my life so much easier! :D
The last thing I want to say is thank you for the giveaway because without it I would probably never have read it or even heard about it!
This is a well written, beautifully crafted story which everybody should read. Sembera expresses herself simply but eloquently, and her work is free of the pretentiousness one so often finds in self-published work.
was an unknown author to me when i won this book..but it is a book that has a good story line and keeps moving..it is not a super long book but i would reccommend to all for a quick
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
I became a fan of Sembera’s after reading Enduring Everything. Rennillia 1 takes us back to the beginning of Ren’s journey where she is reunited with her three best friends. Emerson, Hert and Jackson.
When tragedy comes into Ren’s life, she feels she cannot turn to her friends, so she turns to an outsider for comfort. This outsider only brings shame and abuse. Ren finally finds the courage to separate herself from this past and Emerson is there to save the day. She moves in with Emerson and gets settled before Jackson re-enters her life. Because of things said from the past, it takes Hert and Ren a little longer to reconnect, but Emerson manages to bring these two together as well. Once the gang is brought together, Ren announces her big news in this already complicated situation. Her friends are happy to help out in any way they can. Ren and Hert explore new feelings for one another and act on them.
There are many levels to this story as a new love forms. As is life, this romance story is filled with surprises and complications. Ren’s ex that she left will not leave her alone and it puts her and her friends in dangerous situations. But what bothers Ren the most is the secrets that she feels her friends keeping from her, especially Hert. This ultimately causes a stress amongst all the friends, and when tragedy hits, true feelings are revealed, punches are thrown, and Ren leaves once more. But it’s just not about Ren anymore.
This is a great read and I’m looking forward to the next book to see how the friends handle the building secrets that surround their lives and why Ren is so important that these secrets and deals have to be put in place.
This was not an easy book to review. I found it an interesting read, and I can only assume that it’s been recently re-edited because I didn’t find it badly edited. There were a few errors, but certainly nothing frequent enough to affect my enjoyment. Having said all that, I’m convinced the book was meant for a different audience. I had trouble liking any of the characters and Rennillia’s situation stretched my suspension of disbelief a little too far to be comfortable. Ren herself is a spoiled little drama queen. I grant that she’s had a tough life, but she goes through it slamming doors, crying because one of the men in her life hurt her feelings and generally behaving like a reality show diva. Unfortunately, the men in the book don’t behave much better and spend their time walking out, slamming doors and throwing punches, but they do all idolize Ren and there are no female friends to tell her when she’s being a brat. There is a housekeeper but I don’t think she has a single walk on line. There is also Mrs. Robert, but she’s the perfect little Stepford wife everybody wants Ren to be, and I often felt she was manipulating both Ren and the situation although I was never quite sure what it was she was trying to steer events toward. Although I wasn’t enamored of the characters, the storyline is intriguing. It’s the first of a series, and there were just enough questions and teasers that I’m tempted to read the next one … much like I might watch the next episode of Jersey Shore or Meet the Kardashians, just to find out where the whole thing is going. I suspect that if you’re a fan of soap operas or reality TV shows, you’ll probably really enjoy this one but sometimes, even great books just aren’t my cup of tea, and this one wasn’t quite mine.
When I started reading this book, I really connected with the characters Ren, Em, Jacks, and Hert. It made me flash back to my younger days and high school and college friends I had grown up with and who were closer to me than my own family. Their depth of feeling for each other and the fact that they would do absolutely anything for each other just brought me closer to each of them. As the story unfolds, I tended to lose that connection. Renillia, who I originally thought would turn out to be a character with strength, ends up seeming very weak minded to me. I wanted her to empower herself and hope that she does later on or I will be so disappointed in her! And the boys aren't much better! All rich, powerful, handsome men and they all want to complain about what the DON'T have! Yes, I know I'm talking about them like I know them, but the book does make them seem real in your mind. There is a lot missing from their story in this book that I'm sure is addressed in others in the series that I haven't read yet. I think in order to fully understand the characters, I need more information on their history.
The book was very intriguing and captivated my attention but I wanted more. I would definitely recommend reading this book but buy the entire series! You will be left with so many unanswered questions!
I have been waiting for some time now to read this book because I knew it was a series or trilogy. I do not like waiting in between books. I went into this very open minded, and knowing it would possibly have editing issues helped! (I can see where that would bother some) I liked the story. I found myself picturing them in Texas with the way they spoke. I wished that there was a little more back story with why these 3 boys had such strong feelings for this girl. i didn't like her very much but she did grow on me. The part of me that, will not put a book down because i just had to know what was going to happen, kicked in and I now want to jump right into "A Tangled Web". I am very proud to have known the author in high school! Good job, cheers
****update: if you are thinking about starting this series. I recommend reading the prequel "A Look Back" first. It puts a lot into perspective, and makes the other books even better!!****
The book started out as confusing but I'm glad I stuck with it and read the whole thing. Now I want to read the rest of the series to see what happens with the characters. Ren, Emerson, Jackson, and Hert were close friends in High School. Right after graduation, Ren makes a decision to be with HIM and leaves her friends behind. Her relationship with HIM is not explained in the book, but I am assuming it was an abusive relationship. After 4-6 years, Ren leaves HIM and ends up reconnecting with her friends. This book is about the plan she and her friends come up with for her future.
This is such a fabulous series. The author blends the right amount of romance, intrigue, and just down to earth feelings in her books. Refills, Emerson, Jackson, and Scott also known as Hert, have been the best of friends since childhood. The men would do anything for Rennilla. So after years in a brutal relationship Rennilla leaves and comes back home. She is pregnant and needs to choose one of her friends as a father and husband. The secrets they all keep could get in the way of any of them being happy.
I enjoyed this story and was hooked from the beginning. This story has twists and turns, drama and romance. Rennilla comes back home is reunited with her friends. Will the secrets keep Rennilla away? You will be left guessing. You will like the characters. This is a great read. Received copy for honest review.
I loved this story. It had me on the edge of my seat wanting to read more. Once I started this book I couldn't put it down. I fell in love with these characters and can't wait to read what happens next.
I received this book for my honest review / beta read. I really liked this book it shows the struggle Ren goes through trying to understand things. It shows that she's a strong woman
I received this book for a fair and honest review. I really enjoyed the book. There are a lot of bumps... twists....and turns and that gives the book a lot better outcome.
i adore M Sembera. i must admit when i started it i wondered where this story was going, it had some stark emotional scenes but i felt there needed to be more description particularly about the ex even though the book is now finished i don't know much about him or the relationship that had her fleeing. Renillia is a self absorbed whiny little witch but you cant help somehow liking her but although you like her you do question all her motives and wonder what the hell she is thinking half the time. i would have like some more (not much) description of character’s looks wise. The secondary characters had a massive part in this twisty tale that the secondary characters as a whole is more like a third main character. Ren comes to the story with baggage but so does every character in this story. There’s some stuff i kinda found majorly insane, Renillia isn't interested in Herts job until after they are married, the speed of the “getting together “ after meeting up again. I know its fiction and I'm just nit picking. Looking forward to book 2
This is the first novel is this amazing series. This novel is about Rennilla that takes us back to the beginning of Ren's journey where she is reunited with her three best friends. Emerson, Hert and Jackson. This story is a beautifully written piece with no plot holes. The character's are realistic with real emotions. There are so many layers & levels to this story as new love forms. This romantic story is filled with many surprises, twists & turns & many complications. You will find sexy romance, mystery, action packed adventure. I am so in love with this book and can't wait to read the next one & my favorite character is Emerson. A must read as you will not be disappointed. I received this book in exchange for a honest review.
Okay, I tried. I really did. But seriously, with all the grammar and sentence structure errors (and there were a lot), I couldn't keep reading. Not to mention all of the dialogue was mixed together. You had to literally read the sentences over and over again just to figure out who was talking. A total turn-off. Also, it doesn't help that I have no idea what the book is about. I've got better things to do with my time like reading good books without the aforementioned hassles.
