~ "This book will steal your heart & have you waiting for the next one. It will also teach you to speak your mind when necessary. I do hope this situation never happens in real life! Don't miss a very good emotional read." - Whodunnit, Reviewer
~ "I love these Friessen men and their families. Was so excited the stories are going to keep on how going. Andy and Laura had a plate full with a sick child and moving to a new state along with twins. Andy has a strong personality and I appreciate him more after this book. What a man won't do for his family. Please read!" - Janet Murphy, Reviewer
~ "I'm like your other fans, absolutely in love with this family. I so wanted Gabriel to get well and can't wait until Andy's mother finally gets what's coming to her. I've never read of such a vicious, manipulative, heartless character like her before. I love how this family comes together for each other, and the hubbies, momma mia, so masterful, hunks personified. I personally could see this as a series on TV." - Arkansan, Reviewer
~ "I Loved this book! Thank You Lorhainne Eckhart for bringing the Friessens back. You make the Friessen men so alive and the kind of men us women wish we could meet. The Deadline is a touching story of unconditional love and strength." - Amazon Customer, Reviewer
*Warning: Before purchasing The Deadline please be aware the stories in this series are romances filled with passion, the ideals of family, love and loyalty and The Friessen men are strong sexy alpha males. If sexual tension, rough language, and passion at all bother you then please do not purchase this book.
In THE DEADLINE, Andy Friessen has packed up everything and moved his family two states away, to Montana, to protect his wife, Laura, his newborn babies, and his stepson, Gabriel, from the threats of his mother. What Andy doesn't know is that they'll soon face a new threat, one he never saw coming.
Gabriel is sick, and a trip to the doctor confirms Laura and Andy's worst nightmare: Without a lifesaving transplant, their son won't survive.
What Andy doesn't count on, as he tracks down the young man who fathered Gabriel, as well as Laura's estranged parents, is that a whole host of problems are about to be unleashed.

I just love this series. The Friessen men are truly Alpha men. Don't get in their way and don't disrespect their women. They may be hard headed, have to be in charge and control, and will do just about anything for their families. Don't underestimate them or their women, their love runs deep and true. You will fall in love with each and every one of them.
I wholeheartedly recommend this series to everyone who enjoys strong families, Western romance and happily ever afters. This series has it all. I do recommend you read the series in order even though you could start with any of them. I stumbled upon this series by reading Fallen Hero first, then went back to the beginning and read The Forgotten Child. I was grabbed hook, line and sinker with the entire series. Ms Eckhart is truly a gifted writer and I look forward to continuing to read her books.
A strong and loving man who loves his woman with all his heart. Who wouldn't love him, I do. The only problem is sometimes this character can smother the woman he loves, but she can figure out how to be strong to. The story pulled me in. This book is one I couldn't put down till I read the last page.
I just finished The Deadline, the first in The Friessens: A New Beginning series, and loved it enough that I couldn't wait to share it. Thie emotional struggle was nothing like I expected. I have wanted to read the Friessen books for a while but could never find time until I won this on during a release party. The series and now moved to the top end of my TBR lists. While I found Andy a little overpowering, it fit his alpha personality perfectly. I loved watching Laura's growth and can't wait to see more of this couple.
When they moved to Montana to leave behind the band memories his mother had caused, they never expected to get into a fight for their sons life. A literal fight to defeat leukemia. The search for a bone marrow donor takes them back to the town where her parents kicked her out of the house for becoming pregnant at 15 and her "boyfriend" rejected her twice. Once she surrendered to him and again when she told him she was pregnant with his child and one her own.
As if worry for Gabriel and caring for their new born twins was not enough, the "father" of her child decides he wants to be a part of the little boys life. How much can a couple handle before the even have a chance to get their new house set up.
Andy and Laura finally worked out their problem, with Andy's mother, they left and never went back home. Andy still the information that Aida left him on what Caroline was going to due to Laura and Aida. Andy will stop at nothing to provide for his family. If anybody hurts his family they have to go thru him.
Andy and Laura have moved to a new state to get away from a very unhealthy family situation. The stress of two days driving with six week old twins was capped off by arriving at a new home that looked nothing like the pictures of the house and land they had bought sight unseen. Everyone was tired and cranky and give year old Gabriel was running a temperature.
It took a day or two to get the house straightened up and to focus on Gabriel who seemed to be getting worse. They took him to the doctor and after running some tests found out that he had leukemia. He needed a bone marrow transplant fast.
Gabriel was not Andy"s biological son and they needed to test morr family members as Laura was not a match either. Testing was going to price difficult as Laura had not been in touch with her family since they threw her out when she got pregnant. Gabriel's biological father, Tyler had slammed the door in Laura's face when she told him she was pregnant.
Andy would do anything for Gabriel, who he considered his son in every way but one. Imagine how he felt when he was told by the hospital that he had no parental rights in the decision making regarding Gabriel's care. His in-laws refused testing if their two sons, even knowing what the cost was.
Nothing would stop Andy from saving his son. From not punching Tyler to hugging his mother in law. Whatever it took, he would do it.
I really enjoyed this story, even though it delt with a painful subject. The author had once again showed us that strong family values are not to be discounted.
By the time I realized how much I was disliking this book, I was already halfway through so decided to stick it out.
For starters, the heroine is one of the most pathetic, insecure characters I've ever read. We're told over and over how young she is and how she has been through so much, yet her behavior doesn't align with what the author is trying to convey. She DOES act like a petulant, immature child. As for the hero, I like an alpha male but Andy was chauvinistic to the point it was off-putting. Then the author throws in his cousin Neil, who is equally as gross.
Nevermind the plot, which is beyond the point of belief. I feel like I'm missing a huge chunk of background info so maybe that's my fault for not researching if there was an earlier book that gave some context, but from what I understand it involves some sort of murder plot? Lol... no thanks. A child who is diagnosed and recovers from leukemia in the span of a week is enough ridiculous for me.
This is the cousin (Andy) and Laura’s book. I skimmed to see what was going on (if anything with Neil and Candy.) There’s nothing- it takes place after they’re married/her hysterectomy. Towards the end Neil says he’s looking into surrogacy.
I didn’t read the first story in this series. On that note, the main character is so annoying, needy, clingy, jealous and always seems to be either uncomfortable or embarrassed about something. She’s constantly getting upset whenever Andy decides something without informing her of it first, yet, she’s always constantly looking to him to make things better. What does she expect? Yes, she’s young but she has been through a lot: having to leave her parent’s house, take care of a newborn, and provided for herself and her baby. How did she even make it as far as she did; that’s the question I want to know. Most of the time she doesn’t seem to really have much going on in her brain. She’s always admiring Andy’s good looks and the fact that he’s a good father.
How old is Andy exactly? And why did they have sex without protection if she’s so much younger than him? Was it just that she needed help?
Disclaimer: I received this book from NetGalley in return for an honest review.
A touching book about perseverance and the power of family, The Deadline follows Andy and Laura as they uproot their family for a fresh start. When the unthinkable happens and their son is sick and fighting for his life, Laura is forced to face her past.
Though this is the first audiobook/book in this series. One that continues the story of Andy Freissen and his wife Laura. Andy has moved his family to Montana , as far away from his wealthy and malicious family to have a new beginning with his wife and children. He married Laura to save her and her son Gabriel, but he’s now very much in love with her, Gabriel and their twin babies. When things seem to be settling down, Gabriel becomes sick. Leukemia has been eating him away and only a bone marrow will save him. But what happens when neither is a match and the only hope for Gabriel is his biological father or her family and siblings? The same parents that turned their back on the fifteen year old when she got pregnant. Doing so to save their face in the community. This is a journey with obstacles in every turn and one that will touch your hearts. Once again this talented author has given us a story that is very real and one we hope never affects us or those we love. I would like to add that the narrator did a wonderful job with the voices.
Wow, just WOW. My reading journey through this entire series continues....as does my enjoyment. This is about Andy and Laura. Did not think that anyone could approach the dysfunction of Andy's mother until meeting Laura's. She is faultlessly 'religious' and has elevated herself to be judge and jury of everyone else. This is not God's way. Laura's brother are warm and loving. Her father is spineless.
We meet Tyler and his mom and he doesn't make a positive impression until he signs away his rights. These folks will meet head to head with the Friessens and their need to protect one of their own. It was great that Andy reached out to his cousins and their rapid response drew him closer into a loving extended family.
About the serious illness: this was extremely well done and I am impressed with the obvious amount of research Ms Eckhart utilized in including this in the story. Many times such an illness can destroy a family, in this case it strengthened their bonds.
Wow! This story is deeply emotional and totaly realistic, it will pull at heart. The characters are wonderfully written and some of them will get to you in the most annoying way but they add depth to the entire story. Can you believe Laura's parents? Oh my! There is nothing Christian about what they did to her. Laura's mother is a terribly self-centred woman who doesn't know how blessed she is to have children. Her dad has no backbone to stand up against his wife's hard-heartedness. I love Andy, he is an amazing man who will do whatever it takes to make sure his family is safe. It's fine line between right and wrong when your child's life is at stake, and Andy was willing to blur that line to save his son. What more can say! The story is absolutely brilliant and the narrator is great too. I received a free audio copy

The Deadline (The Friessens: A New Beginning #1) was a great read by Lorhainne Eckhart. Andy Firessen has packed up and moved his family two states away to Montana. This is in order to protect his wife, Laura, his newborns, and his stepson Gabriel. His mother has threatened their safety. Unfortunately, there is a new threat that they never saw coming. Gabriel winds up sick and isn’t getting better, and the doctor doesn’t have good news for them. Gabriel needs a lifesaving transplant or else he will not survive. Andy tracks down the man who feathered Gabriel and Laura’s estranged parents, which leads to even more problems they must face. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.
A young girl has been hurt by all that she loved. She struggled to survive and support her child. Found Love amazingly thru her employers son. They move out of state to their new home he purchased with their new infant twins and Gabriel her son, who was feeling feverish and they thought he was coming down with the flu. This is the start of this story only very basically explained. This is truly a very heartwarming, heartbreaking gut clenching suspenseful mystery.....romantic thriller with The Lord Throughout from beginning to end. I loved this story Wonderfully written, inspirational it’s a gift from the Lord. I was given this in a free book giveaway and I leave this review voluntarily.
We now get the background on Laura, her family, the biological father of Gabriel. Andy has moved Laura and his family to Montana to get away from his toxic parents. This new beginning is not a happy one. The ranch he purchased is not what he expected and Gabriel is diagnosed with a disease that could kill him unless he gets a familial bone marrow donor. Laura and Andy now must confront her past. This story is so heartbreaking but ultimately there is a happily ever after.
Andy Friessen is a very Dominant male, that has a tendency to make his young wife Laura doubt her abilities as a wife and a mother. However they encounter a life threatening illness and through this turmoil Laura finds the backbone to stand for what is truly hers, and made her adversaries relent. The name Deadline is a very apropos name for this story, and I’m anxious to see where the author takes it next. Valerie Gilbert did an excellent job narrating, she gave life to the multiple characters.
This story kept me on my toes from the start, the clock is ticking and there seems to be no way to get the problem solved, in spite of Andy´s money and Laura´s will to accept the blame for everything her parents may think she is responsible for. There are so many twists and turns that I was reading as fast as I could to learn the end and if everything had turned out ok. If you enjoy the Friessen´s saga you should not miss reading this book. It´s nerve racking, but it is very entertaining and easy to read. I downloaded a free copy of this book and this is my honest review.
Andy Friessen & his wife Laura move to Montana with Gabriel, age 5, her son from a previous relationship & their twins Chelsea & Jeremy. Shortly after their move, Gabriel becomes very sick. It was then learned that he had leukemia. Neil, Andy’s cousin & his wife, Candy, fly to Montana to help Andy & Laura. Family members need to be tested to see if they are a match for a bone marrow transplant. Many people get tested; but the chances seem to be nonexistent. Great conversations, great characters!
Andy and Laura have just moved to Montana for a fresh start with their 3 kids. Then their oldest, Gabriel, who is Laura's son from before she met Andy, gets very sick, and it's a race against time to save him. Andy is an intense character, very realistic with flaws that anyone could have, but he loves his family, and is willing to do whatever it takes to keep all of them safe. Great story, that makes me eager to read the rest of the books by this author... She's an amazing storyteller!
I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobook of this title.
It was supposed to be a new beginning, but then something totally unexpected and devastating happens. It humbled this proud man, that was capable and in control. It showed how vulnerable they were, and how they also needed others to help. Great, Great story!!
Andy has moved Laura, little Gabriel, and the twins away to escape his mother. She had actually planned to have a doctor remove the babies before they were even born. A new town. A very sick little boy. One very tired mama. A handsome and loving husband who will protect his family with everything he has. Such a moving story.
Laura and Andy move their family to Montana. Than they find out the Gabriel is really sick. Andy will definitely anything to save him, even if he is not his biological son. He treats him as he is. I like the other characters too. Good story
Andy and Laura have a very sick child, with Andy not being the biological father things become difficult finding a match to help their boy. I liked the book not a great fan of the docile way Laura was. .
I wanted to cry for Laura and Andy when there boy sick. I loved how Andy each one of the extended family in their place. My favorite was taking Sue to how her grandson really was
Good story about Andy and Laura, a married couple with three children, her son from a teenage pregnancy and their twins. They go through a medical emergency with the oldest, which snowballs into a lot of other issues.
This is not the usual format story I like, buy it was still a good story
