Ava Calligan For almost nine years, I’ve juggled multiple jobs while raising my younger sister, leaving little room in my life for the magic of Christmas I once loved.
When a new job reconnects me with Derek, the ex I never really got over, our attraction is undeniable, leading us into a complicated no-strings-attached relationship.
As the holiday season unfolds and we share kisses under the mistletoe, I’m drawn back into the warmth of a love I thought I’d lost forever. But he’s broken my heart once before, and my head keeps telling I don’t need anyone. I can manage on my own.
Derek Moritz Leaving Ava was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. She’s the only woman I’ve let break my heart. Over our years apart, I’ve failed to move past her, so when she becomes the new photographer’s assistant at Blue Vista Events, I’m determined to keep my distance. However, when I learn she no longer finds joy in Christmas, I quickly fall into old habits, making it my mission to help her reignite her holiday spirit.
As the twinkling lights and festive activities bring us closer, I begin to can I make her believe Christmas isn’t the only thing she can learn to love again?
Maybe we didn’t work before, but with the magic of the season on our side, why not now?
I read the first book Why Not Both? and im happy that I was able to read Sarah Neeson’s Sequel: Why Not Now?
This book follow Ava and Derek, who were High School sweethearts. We get both their POV’s like we did in the first book.
I Love how it starts off at the wedding so we saw Lis & Spencer’s wedding POV but also Ava and Derek’s. (This is not a Spoiler as im not saying who’s wedding it is 🤷🏼♀️)
This book is Miscommuncation Trope with Friends to Lovers to Enemies to Lovers with a lot of spice 🌶️
This book could technically be read as a standalone but I would read the first book to know more about the other characters and also a little background on Derek!
Overall I really liked this book! Its as good as the first one! Neeson is such a great Canadian Author and as a Canadian I feel like its important for our Authors to get more well known!
9/10 really recommend and im super excited for the third book in the series 📚
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Thanks Book Sirens!
This is the second book in the Blue Vista Crew series and follows on from Why Not Both? Ava and Derek reconnect and need to figure out if they can rekindle their lost love.
Themes of loss and grief throughout as well as a sibling as a single parent.
This is definitely higher on the spice metre, compared with the first book.
I enjoyed the continuing deep friendships between the Blue Vista Crew, the way they all have each other's backs and are so supportive. If you enjoy Christmas, you'll love this book, as Derek works hard to help Ava regain her love of the holiday season. A cosy romance.
A second chances storyline in this second in series book of lost love, misunderstandings, and old/new friendships. Ava lost her parents at nineteen and became a mom to her 8-year-old sister. At the same time, she broke up with her boyfriend and has been juggling three jobs to keep everything afloat. But what will happen when her ex comes back into her life, her car has died, her sister is distant and she’s exhausted? Derek loves his job and his friends and business partners but has never been in a relationship since he was told to leave by his high school girlfriend and now, he’s face to face with her again. With his absent father constantly trying to contact him and the “love of his life” being so close, how can he manage to resolve past hurt without shattering his heart again? As their lives become intertwined, old feelings become burning passion, but will they resolve old mistakes, or will new hidden secrets destroy them again? Once again, the author has delivered a fantastic story with great characters and some spicy scenes. The MCs had a great chemistry, and I enjoyed how they knew and remembered each other after a long time apart. I liked being able to catch up with the others from Blue Vista and see the continued friendships and new happenings with the group. A great second book and I look forward to the third one being a Grumpy/Sunshine plot. Overall, a must addition to your TBR list. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I’ve really been enjoying this series so far, and this one did not disappoint. We pick up right where we left off in the previous book, though it’s not necessary to read it. I love the close knit, found family vibe between the four friends. It’s really heartwarming.
Ava and Derek were high school sweethearts, but when some miscommunication happened they parted ways. Now, eight years later, they see each other again for the first time and the feelings they tried to keep buried surface, but can they learn from their past mistakes?
Derek shows his love through acts of service, and we get to see that in action. He treats Ava and her sister so well and so lovingly, you want to smack Ava in the head at times and be like girl why are you being so stubborn about receiving help. It was so lovely to watch him care for her and her sister. And let’s face it Ava needs a lot of help. She became her sister’s guardian after the death of her parents and has been working three jobs to make ends meet. She’s burning the candle at both ends and in the process alienates her sister. I liked that not only does Ava rekindle her relationship with Derek, but she also does so with her sister. She comes to her senses at the end and realizes it’s okay to ask for help and it’s okay to have a loving partner to lean on.
This books is so easy to breeze through. It’s enjoyable and cozy, and I would recommend this series to friends.
𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘕𝘰𝘵 𝘕𝘰𝘸? by Sarah Neeson is a beautiful and heartwarming second-chance holiday romance that had me captivated from the first page. Ava Calligan has spent years juggling responsibilities, leaving little time for herself or the joy of Christmas. When her new job as a photographer reconnects her with Derek, the ex she never truly got over, their undeniable chemistry sparks a no-strings-attached relationship. As the holiday magic draws them closer, both must confront the pain of their past and the possibility of rekindled love.
What I loved most about this book was the way Sarah Neeson captured the complexity of second chances — Ava’s guarded heart, Derek’s determination to bring back her holiday spirit, and their sizzling yet emotional connection. The festive activities, heartfelt moments, and familiar Blue Vista crew made it the perfect holiday read!
𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘕𝘰𝘵 𝘕𝘰𝘸? is perfect for fans of emotional second-chance romances, festive vibes, and a mix of sweetness and steam. If you love a story that warms your heart and leaves you craving the next book in the series, this one’s for you!
Sweet - but also Steamy - Perfect Second Chance at First Love Holiday Story
This was a wonderful second chance with the "one that got away" story set during the holidays in Vancouver. Although it is part of a series, it is easily read as a standalone especially given the timeliness of the approaching holiday season, but the first book was also wonderful and most of the characters repeat. Almost a decade later Ava and Derek never got over each other, so when they are reconnected at a work event not only was the chemistry still there but all of their feelings resurfaced. Thankfully, the "Blue Vista Crew" is a wonderful "found family" and adopt Ava (and her sister Lacey) as their own and help Ava and Derek learn to communicate their feelings better and reconnect. The book is well written and the characters are well developed and engaging. The holiday scenery was so well described and cookies sounded so tasty I was ready to start baking and decorating. I can't wait for the next book in the series - Enjoy!
I was sent an ARC by the author and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
This is the second installment of the Blue Vista crew series, and let me just say—I adore this found family. The way these friends all have keys to each other’s homes? Cuties🥺
The tension between Ava and Derek was incredible. The will-they-won’t-they had me screaming, “JUST KISS ALREADY!” Their journey from childhood friends to high school sweethearts, to exes, to friends-with-benefits gave me ALL THE FEELS. The angst? Amazing😚🤌
But this story isn’t just about romance. It dives into tough topics like grief (from both death and abandonment) and the struggles of being a people-pleaser terrified of losing loved ones. The way the author handled these themes was so heartfelt and relatable—excuse me while I go cry🥲
On a lighter note, Derek’s love language being acts of service? YES. He’s so caring and deserves all the love. And without giving spoilers…THE PLAYLIST? Derek, I wasn’t aware of your game🙂↕️
If you love the found family trope, a healthy dose of angst, and adorable interconnected series, I highly recommend this one. And with its cozy holiday vibes, it’s the perfect read to get you in the holiday spirit!
Finally, back with the Blye vista crew! I was so excited when I saw this one available to read and review. I loved the first one, so this was anticipated. And did not disappoint! Fell in love with the Blue Vista Crew in book one, and this one somehow got even better!
This time it’s Derek’s turn to have his story. He and Ava have been broken up for 8 years, and now she’s working with a friend as a photographer during wedding – also at Blue Vista. The book just sucked me right in and kept me there until I was finished. This is a second-chance romance book which will have you rooting for them to figure things out, to being annoyed that they just don’t magically work the first time (because they are so good together), to then finally have a mini-meltdown because the book is finished, and you want more!
Can’t wait for the next one. This series really surprised me!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Why Not Now? was the absolute sweetest read. After being introduced to Ava and Derek at the end of Why Not Both?, I was dying to read their own story. They are two independent people who come together in love and growth- which is my favorite thing to read!
Derek is a cutie pie, and I love how patient he is with Ava. He is down SO bad for her and it is so clear to see that he would do anything to keep her in his life. I loved his relationship with Lacey, Ava’s younger sister, as well. It was a really lovely dynamic to see and added a fun element to this story.
I loved getting to see more into the Blue Vista Crew and their wedding business! The friendships this group has are so heartwarming, and I’m so invested in all of their love stories. I’m so excited for the next book, Why Not Us?, which comes out in February!
I voluntarily reviewed a free advance copy of this book provided by BookSirens. The opinions expressed are my own.
4⭐ 2.5🌶️ Tropes: Second chance, mutual pining, it’s always been you, angst, high school sweetheart
Why Not Now? Is the second book in the series, with this one focusing on Derek and his high school sweetheart Ava. It’s been almost 9 years since they broke up, but when Ava’s boss Cathy is hired to be the photographer at Derek’s event company, they reunite and the sparks start flying but can they overcome the obstacles that broke them apart in the first place?
Ahh, so nice to be back with the Blue Vista Crew! I really enjoyed this book. Second chance is one of my favorite tropes and this did not disappoint. I also loved the Christmas setting in the story- it was super cute but not overdone. Derek is so sweet in the way he takes care of Ava, although I wish she was more willing to accept help (but I get that’s kinda the point of the story lol). Definitely add this to your Christmas TBR!
This is the second book in the Blue Vista series, it follows Derek and Ava in their second chance romance. I loved the first book so much and had really high expectations for this book.
I was a bit disappointed in the love story. It was a second chance romance and I felt like they just fell into their relationship again. Then they had the same problems at 19 and 28.
I also expected a bit more banter between characters but it didn't have it.
I gave this book 4 stars because I liked the characters and I liked the Christmas elements.
Overall, it is a cute Christmas read but I wanted more evolved characters to fall in love with each other again. I didn't want the characters to nmake the same mistakes they made at 19 at 28 again.

After losing her parents at 19, and taking custody of her 8 year old sister, Ava struggles. Especially when her boyfriend leaves her too. So she spends the next 8 years trying to make ends meet by working 3 jobs, and giving up on her dream of becoming a photographer full-time.
When her photographer boss gets a new contract photographing weddings at Blue Vista, Ava is shocked that the ex boyfriend Derek is part owner (she’s never read a romcom before? 🤔).
She’s the one that got away. The one woman he has always loved. When she shows up at his business, he just cannot help it that he instantly feels attracted to her again.
But will the issues that made them split arise again, and will they be able to overcome them this time?
I loved this book. Great writing, believable characters and the spicy scenes didn’t feel gratuitous. Would give it 4.5 but rounded it up to 5.
Is Derek a knight in shining armor, or should I say a man who restores the joy off Christmas to Ava? Nine years ago he had to leave the love of his life, Ava. Ava has had nine years of struggles after loosing her only living parent, her dad. This leaves Ava to raise her younger sister, pay off bills, leaving her no free time. She holds down 3 jobs to do so. One of her jobs is part time with a friend of hers, is as a photographer for venue affairs. Derek has returned back to town to manage Blue Vista events. Will they reconnect after nine years? Will they discover that they are each the one and only love for each other? Derek asks himself, why now. His answer is Why Not Now? will they reunite and let each other know how important the other one is in their life? Will Ava learn to enjoy Christmas as she always had until her dad passed away? A wonderfully written romance book.
😍😍😍 *swoon* I fell in love with the Blue Vista Crew in the first book "Why not Both" (which is my favorit contemporary novel) so being back with them was always gonna be exciting for me 🤣
But throw in a second chance romance? Yes, please! Ava and Derek dated 9 years ago. Things were great until Ava's parents were lost and she gained custody of her younger sister Lacey. Things spiraled and the two split
Now, years later, she is working as a contractor for Blue Vista events- the company Derek partially owns. The sparks are still there but the two of them have to let go of the past and fight for a future together.
Filled with an amazing cast of characters, steamy spicy scenes, and great banter- this book is a great time ❤️
Ava and Derek have been broken 8 years ago and now he is the boss of her boss . Ava is working three works to raise her 16 years sister after both her parents killed 8 years ago . Derek is part owner of Blue Vista Events and when he sees Ava again he wants her back in his life because he never stoped loving her . When he realising she is not enjoying Christmas anymore he makes it his mission to create new memories for her . They agree to be friends with benefits but real feelings make things compicate . Where the reasons that made them break up worthy for the pain that they caused ? I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Something about this book just sucks you right in, and I love it.
It was so nice to see the characters from the last book again, and get to know Derek better…. I might actually love him more than I loved Spencer.
This story follows Ava and Derek who get a second chance at love after 9 years of not seeing each other. All Derek wants is to take care of people, but mostly Ava and her younger sister. Ava just wants to make sure her sister is taken care of, and give her the best life she can. Together they not only remember how to love eachother, but they learn how to be a team and I love it so much.
I received a digital ARC of this book. This is the 2nd book in the series and should be read in order. Derek and Ava were high school sweethearts but broke up 9 years ago. When Ava spots him at an event she’s working she can’t believe it. What they don’t know is that the other person never stopped loving them. Can they find their way back to each other or has that door been permanently closed? You’ll have to read to find out, but you’ll be routing for them to reconnect. You’ll also fall in love with the group of friends that this series is about. It will make you want your own group like that. I’m looking forward to book 3 in the series!
Okay so second chance romances are not my thing but I knew Sarah would deliver on this one and she totally did! Ava and Derek (plus Lacey and Abyss, of course) were so cute.
Found family is one of my favourite tropes and seeing these four best friends plus Lis grow was a lot of fun. The relationship between Derek and Lacey has my whole heart and the budding friendship between Ava and the other Blue Vista ladies is hilarious. Plus all the Christmas fun making this a great holiday read with all the cuteness of a man clearly in love. I was definitely super frustrated with the miscommunication however I also understood where each of them was coming from and the twists near the end were wild!
I am so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have received an advanced copy of Why Not Now from the author!
Why Not Now is the second book in The Blue Vista Crew series and it is seriously such a cute holiday read! ❄️☃️ One of my favorite tropes is found family and I truly love seeing all the friendships in The Blue Vista Crew grow and seeing Ava become friends with everyone was seriously so amazing! 🥹 Ava truly is such an inspirational character and she has had so much happen in her life that truly is heartbreaking. All she wants is to give her younger sister the best life she can give her. Derek on the other hand is such a cinnamon roll MMC and it truly is so sweet to see how much he wants to take care of Ava and her sister. If you love found family, second chance romance, he falls first, and miscommunication then I recommend reading this book! 🫶
Derek and Ava have been apart almost 9 years thanks to a miscommunication that left both of them heartbroken.
Now she is working as a photographer in his venue and the attractions is still there and maybe even the feelings.
Derek will try to befriend her again by trying to make her love Christmas again. And doing so they reconnect in a lot of ways.
I really enjoyed reading their story but Ava is still too stubborn for me, and how Derek wants to reconnect, from the start, with her is like insta-love and that isn't one of my favorite tropes. And that's why i must give a 4.5 star instead of a 5 star rate.
I'm really looking forward the next book in the series.
This is book 2 in Neeson's Blue Vista Crew series. A beautiful romance of lost love and second chances. Our main characters are Ava and Derek. Once high school sweethearts, when tragic events turn Ava's life upside down, she breaks things off with Derek and goes into survival mode. These two come together once again but can old hurts be healed or do the scars run too deep? A great romance read with amazing characters. Wonderful storyline that flows smoothly and a balance of sweet, heat and so much more! A great addition to this series and I can't wait for more!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
It was my first book of the Blue Vista Crew Series and I will definitely go for others of this series. And I am happy that I got it because it is perfect second chance romance, with many boxes checked: fresh and funny, sweet and steamy, pets.
The One and Only Ava meet her one-and-only ex after eight years, seven month and three days, but who's counting. Not Ava and Derek.
Loved characters and story-line - all Derek's plan for winning Ava back, for making Ava love Christmas again. So sweet and adorable. And all those mistletoe!
And, of course, adorable found family for Ava and Lacey is the reason for wanting more readings in the series. And the perfect writing style of the Author.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Oh my goodness…do NOT attempt to read this book without a box of tissues handy! I don’t know how she does it, but Sarah Neeson has gifted us with another incredible Blue Vista Crew book. WHY NOT NOW? Comes with an amazing but painful storyline; the characters are so real; the plot twists and turns make you want to grab ahold of someone and hang on for dear life; and the HEA…Be still my heart! This is such a well written story—you need to grab a copy for your TBR list today! 😍 (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and was absolutely blown away by it.) Don’t let this one get away! ❤️❤️
After reading the first book and falling in love with it i had to read the next book. Why Not Now? was an absolutely heartwarming read. After meeting Ava and Derek at the end of Why Not Both?
Derek is such a sweetheart, and I adore how patient he is with Ava. It’s clear he’s totally smitten with her and would do anything to keep her in his life. I also loved his bond with Lacey, Ava’s younger sister—it added a really sweet dynamic to the story and brought an extra layer of fun. I can’t wait for the next book, Why Not Us?, coming in February!
I really enjoyed the locale, the friendships and characters of book #1 in this series so there wasn’t much room for error in book #2.
Similar to book #1, I could believe Derek and Ava as a couple. This seemed like a situation people could really get into IRL. Different from book #2 these characters were definitely more flawed so maybe that gave them a 1-up on being believable to Spencer and Lis.
Charming easy reads with some spice! I appreciate it and will be reading on book #3 when it comes out this month.
Wellll, Sarah did it again!! I absolutely devoured this book! It was perfectly and beautifully written. I adore all of the characters, and the interconnected storyline from book one. I LOVE a real and raw second chance, everyday romance, and Sarah absolutely delivered! *Chef's kiss* 🤌🤌
❤️"Whoa now, Derek. Stop flirting with her. Then she smiles at me again, and I can’t remember my name."❤️
"Why Not Now" by Sarah Neeson is the second book in her Blue Vista Series. This book makes you want to keep reading and is a story that you fall into. Derek is a part owner of a wedding venue. Ava is a photographer that just got hired to work the weddings. When they see each other for the first time the past comes rushing back to both of them. Ava is a hardworking person and she is trying her best to stay afloat. Derek just wants to help her be happy. As they fall into their old ways they find the spark is still there. This is a great second chance romance, and I highly recommend it.
Super cutesy Christmas romance! Quick easy read. Ava finds herself the sole provider for her younger sister after her parents die. So determined to prove she can handle it and take care of everything has her burnt out and hating the holidays. Her ex boyfriend from 9 years ago shows back up in her life determined to make her fall in love with Christmas all over again! Little does she know Christmas isn’t the only thing she will be falling for again!
